I placed my order for CyberStation's aDSL "Link" service on 6/13/01, I did my own wiring from the NID to a new phone jack in my home. Service was activated on 6/22/01 and my equipment hooked up right away at 1.5M/128k. My downloads have been consistent at over 1.0M and I have never lost a connection. Over all the service has exceeded my expectations by far. Great Company, Great Service, Great Support !

It took less than two weeks from time of order. Ordered on 4/2, got DSL modem in the mail on 4/13 and the service was ready to go that day too. Talk about Good Friday! It was amazingly simple to set up, and I even used WinME ICS to share the connection on another PC. Pretty good speeds. The test on dslreports.com showed around 900-1000k down. I've been playing around with it all weekend and have had no problems. I highly recommend them. And $45/month ain't bad either.

I too had this company on a pedestal until I was hung up on when calling
in to get a agreement faxed to myself for a signature. After calling to
get an agreement faxed to me some lady answered the phone and said
something to the nature of "We don't answer for them anymore" and then
hung up! What the hell type of customer service is that!
This was the only bad incedent but how many should a customer
experience.(Especially customers who are trying to signed up.)

Ask any person who has ever worked in retail or customer service and
they will say."Treat a customer right and they will tell one other
person about the good experience.Mistreat a customer and they are
    likely to tell 10 people)
And that's what I WILL DO.

    Ok,
After browsing back to this site today I saw that this was clearly not a fault of Cyberstation and I will be the first to admit that.
I called Chris Salmon back after reading his reply and he was more than willing to correct the problem. He said that they will honor the 2 months of free service and also send the agreement form to me via email for me to print out, sign and return.
And also he started the order process for me via phone.
Hopefully the rest of the installation will go smoothly.

    April 12, 2001

    Well,
I finally have a DSL connection at the house again.
The connection is extremely slow and needless to say very disappointing.
Using various bandwith monitor s like www.cnet.com and www.2wire.com and the bing program on FreeBSD I have only had speeds averaging 150K instead of the 1.5M that I agreed on.
Also the past few times I have dropped down to 43K (less than my modem which is free on Netzero) .

Wednesday night I called tech support and spoke with some of their techs. They tell me that there is a T1 that is part of the redundant connection to Dallas that is down which is ok with me.
Later that night another tech calls me back and tells me that he changed some of the routes on their T1 circuit and to reboot my system.I tell him that I have a Linux system and all I would need to do is take the interface down and bring it back up .(which I know for a fact is pointless since the only thing my intefaces talk to is their gateway.)
Once he finds out I'm on a linux system he then tells me "that may be the problem " since they don't fully support Linux.( I don't need any Linux support I need a better connection)

Next aftenoon while accessing my home machine from a BSD box at work I notice the connection is still dog-slow and I call back and they inform me that the T1 is STILL down and tell me to give it until Thursday.(today)

As of right now......Still slow.( I guess that T1 must not be too important)

I happen to be a Unix admin and after speaking with one of the network guys at work, we both agreed
that if my gateway has not changed then ther e was no need for a reboot and even if the gateway changed then I could have just issued `route add default gw ` to fix it.
We change routes here and have never had to reboot any UNIX or windows box.

    Oh well,
I'll give a few days and hopefully things will speed up.

"Quick installation turnaround, generally friendly"

Pre Sales information:

Value for money:

We have DSL at $65/month (no contract, not until we're live full time). We have a Briteport 8010, with a static IP address.

We orderd the DSL (only one speed) on Feb 10, and went "live" on March 9. However we did not get packets routed out until 3 hours after the installer left; IPC had us hooked up on the wrong pair on their end and didn't route packets to Cyberstation until that afternoon.

We were live until March 13/14, when we were down nearly a whole day. Cyberstation did not return the single support call we put in, but we got in touch with IPC who spent some time sorting out the problem. It sounded like it was a glitch in their customer database: not a great sign.

We are now down on March 20 since the evening of March 19. IPC can't seem to find the problem, and Cyberstation did some simple checks and opened a trouble ticket with IPC themselves. We'll see if/when this gets resolved. For the record, Cyberstation did not call back on the tech support voice mail I left, but did answer the phone when I called back a few times. My advice would be to blow off leaving voice mails and just keep calling back. Once they're on the phone they seem pretty friendly, although one tech suggested I turn off the modem for 30 minutes and then try to retrain it (Is that a polite way of saying go away? Tried it, it didn't help). James, the tech who did help, walked through some checks and called back when we got disconnected. Thanks, James.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here puzzled. I've got a modem with a solid WAN light on (is it trained?); IPC says my circuit is dark with an open by the CO (?); so is it SWB that has it all messed up? Or IPC can't find my pair?

I checked dslreports.com for ISPs providing ADSL in my area. I chose Cyberstation because a static IP, at least 5 email accounts for my business, and low cost were important to me. I signed up by phone and was impressed with how easy it was - too easy, I should have known better. A week later I got a call from Cyberstation telling me that my DSL order would be canceled unless I completed my DSL signup (which I had completed and pre-paid with credit card 1 week before.) After a call to my credit card company to verify that Cyberstation had billed my card, and some pointed conversation with the Cyberstation people, my original "lost order" was "found" and we were back on track to get DSL.

Upon receiving the BritePort 8010 External modem I went through about 2 weeks trying to get a DSL sync. After double checking phone lines and verifying the number that the DSL was installed on, still no sync. 1 week of waiting later - magic - WE HAVE SYNC! From that point on the installation and configuration was a snap. I am not too thrilled with the initial speed tests 253down/102up, but still lots better than dial-up 56k.

In short I think Cyberstation provides a good product at a reasonable price. If Cyberstation would work on documenting new orders and communicating via email, all initial order information and setup parameters like IP, DNS and gateway settings in writing, many of the problems I experienced could be eliminated.

This review is for Cyberstation of Wichita Falls Wichita TX

I ordered DSL from cyberstation on January 10, or at least I tried. They
have a service agreement that needs to be sent back to them. The first time
I emailed it to them, no one remembered ever seeing it. The second time I
faxed it to them and that got lost too. On the third time they finally got
it. Three weeks later I get a modem in the mail, unfortunately no one at
cyberstation bothered to look at the service agreement to see that I was
running windows 2000, so they sent me the modem that doesn't have win2000
drivers. Isn't this the point to filling out that stupid form. So next
they promise me they'll send out a new modem overnight since they screwed
up. Two weeks go by and no modem. When I finally call to see what's up,
they tell me they never sent the modem. They place the order, and I get the
modem in a week. I install it, and no DSL. The line is dead, even though
they told me that it's been hot for two weeks. I have to wait another two
weeks for the IP person to come out again and fix up my line. Once that's
done I plug in my new modem, fire up my computer and and..... I have 10 KB/s
service, and I'm 6000 ft from the CO. It is now March 14. The fastest that
I've ever downloaded at is about 30-35 KB/s, but that only happens at around
1:00-2:00 am. The rest of the time, it's hovering at around 10KB/s.
Sometimes my DSL connection drops to below what I was getting with my 56K
modem. When I route ping my computer, every bounce returns a 10ms ping,
except when I hit gateway.cyberstation.net, which usually gives back 250ms
    and sometimes even times out.
The people at cyberstation claim that it can't be their servers, but in the
same sentence they promise that they're getting more bandwidth. One of the
cyberstation techs said that he things it's my modem, so he ordered me a new
and had it sent "overnight". That was last week and guess what, no modem.

little slow right now but Andy from CST.NET has advised that more bandwith is coming and that should definately bump it up. since Im not playing online games I dont need massive speed just dependable fast connection

i got the DSL a month ago and really like it. it's pretty darned reliable, and only recently there have been a few slow times, but when i called they told me that they would be soon adding "bandwidth" for their DSL users.

overall this service isn't that bad, i'd probably reccommend to most people.

I ordered DSL back in March during spring break and a few weeks later the service was installed. I was customer #3 and at the beginning the speeds rocked, and as they have added more and more users speeds have held steady. The process of ordering and installing was good, and my equipment here at the house came in good condition and works fine. Whenever i call their tech support number i'm never put on hold and i like that. The techs really do seem to go out of their way to help their users. IP Communications, on the other hand, can be really frustrating, but that's for another review. Overall, two thumbs up!
