I am From the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx. Around January 19 2002, it was decided I was going to get Optimum Online. I went to the Wiz in Co-op city, went up to the Optimum Online counter, and within 45 mins, i was out with everything I needed. I came home, and hooked everything and was online quickly. With a little tweaking, I get up to 8 Mbits down, and on average 1Mbit up. On Mac OS X which I discovered later, I could even get these speeds with no tweaking necessary. Optimum Online is a very strange service. You love the speed and you know its better than everything else but you get pissed off at Cablevision anyway. The Mail isnt that great, the Newsgroups just plain suck, and you have to constantly cap your upload or cablevision will do it for you.
Even with these bad sides, it is still the best out there...

While I certainly get 101+ I don't get it all the time. For reasons unknown it fluctuates between 70-101+. Since Ultra is new Field Ops is coming out here to check this out. Upstream is nearly always ~15.

I have been with Optimum Online for a while and have always been satisfied with the level of service they provided. The price is somewhat reasonable and the boost discount for triple play subscribers isn't bad either. I just did a speed test and it was over 23000 Kb/s down... What is like most is the fact that it's one of the fastest residential connections that you can get in the united states.

My net was out for 1 week with intermittent issues during May. Problem was due to congestion on the network. Techs notified me that a fix was rolled out. Issue was resolved satisfactorily.
I really appreciated the fact they took the time to tell me what was going on. I like the service I received from contacting the techs at the OOL Direct Forum. I can compare my outage experience (2007-2008) with Charter HSI in West Covina, CA, they were awful in resolving my issue compared to OOL. They had me down for 2-3 months there.
Pretty consistent Internet service in Bergen County for the past decade. I've had OOL in Closter, NJ and New Milford, NJ. I've had OOL since year 2000.

The service is worth the money. I have boost and am very happy at this time witrh the consistency of the speed as well as the reliability. In 5 years I think it has only been down 2 times. Worth the money,. Thinking about going to Ultra!

well i moved from one area in the bronx to another, and before i had mci, and verizon for, internet and telephone, they were both reliable no doubt.
But after moving i decided to try something new, so i saw on tv, the commercials for the optimum triple play. But at one point i hesitated because i didnt know how the service will be, so i went to dslreports.com and did some research, after reading many reviews, i didnt know what to do because, some say its good and some say its bad. But i decided to give it a go.
So i called and ordered the triple play. So in 2 weeks, the techician came.
I Told him to install everything in the living room and then later i could move it to a different part of the house. He said its okay.
So he installed all 3 services. In about 30min everything was set. I paid him some money and he left. So first i checked out my tv, i got all the channels i ever wanted and more, then to telephone its the exact same thing as landline except i have more feature and a much larger calling range. Then i did some speed test on the internet. I had only 8mb out of 15, at first i was disippointed. Later on i checked and it was around 12mb, good enough for me. He left me with a voice enable, webstar modem.
Now 2 month later i still have optimum. But then i notice alot of lagging on my tv, so i called they will be coming next tuesday. But i do alot of torrent downloading. so i signed up for boost 2 days ago. After i did a speed test i got only 8mb, then i bypassed my netgear wpn824 wireless router, and the speed was 32mb down and 4.5 up. Now i was really impressed.
So far i havent been capped or anything. But i really recommened boost. Its overwhelmingly fast. I dont know how fios is yet. But i might give it a chance in a few years. Other than the problem with the tv, the voice and internet is fabolous.
For those who dont believe me heres some proof:

Since Verizon FiOS is not available in my area yet (but all around me in a five block radius), I went with Cablevision's Optimum Online because my Verizon Online DSL was horrible and took forever to repair. After having OOL for over a year now, I can say that it has been a great experience. I always reach speeds of 16 Mbps Download and 3 Mbps Upload (probably because everyone on my block uses satellite, including me) and the price was agreeable, even before I got a triple play package (forced to because Verizon's Voicewing was shutting down).
Ordering was fast, especially since I knew the OOL numbers by heart. Installation wasn't all that great. They had to drill another hole in the front of my house and they could have done a better job of handling the wire to my room (they drilled in a divider wall when it could have been routed in the doorway). But in the end, it was worth the price because the $45.00 I was paying Verizon for 3 Mbps Download/768 Kbps Upload was nowhere close to being as good as the $50.00 Optimum speeds. Since then, I have upgraded to the Triple Play and I'm saving even more. Highly recommended if Verizon FiOS hasn't come to your area yet!

This was a self install with Voip. I went to the sales office and just had them activate the modem and 1 DVR.
Nothing but smooth sailing since the turn up date, 9 years ago.

I've been an ool customer for over 10 years now and it's been a great ride, sometimes bumpy. When i did have problems it was usually my home wiring or a splitter/cable outside that had gone bad. ( I think I've had 4-5 appointments for techs to fix issues over my years of service). Of those one was an old tap / main line when i moved into the new house (When the tech did the install he pointed out that the main line was quite old and should be replaced and preformed the work in a matter of minutes) The other two were related to environmental/storm damage to the outside cables/splitters at the old residence.
I started out with purchasing a 3com cmx at the wiz and finding the excitement of board band. That modem lasted a long time until upgrading to a sb3100, sb4200, sbv4200 now on a sbv5120.
In my past residence i always get 90% of better of *upto* 10mb then 15mb after the upgrade. Here at this residence the last 4 year I've received the same if not better performance.
Dsl is in the area but it's slow and over priced and tends to be unreliable in the areas I've had experience with mainly sbc/at&t. But the reputation of optimum is what brought me to the product and has capture my business indefinitely.
The Voice over ip service is top notch.. Very little if any problems with voice quality in the new residence but that was when I first moved in one issue in particular was my tivo was unable to dial in to the service because of the a codec issue, that was resolved swiftly.
I've Been capped a few times.. once here twice at the other place. One instance I downloaded a Linux dvd via bit torrent and left it open for days at full throttle. I sorta wanted to test the limits, but in the end it was used it to solidify a theory i had. Big thanks to cisco for awesome documentation on that.
In conclusion I'm Extremely happy with the service and support provided

Have had optimum online since late 2001 and have loved it! No complaints! The free wifi is a great value add also! When their Ultra tier loses the ridiculous $300 activation fee, I'll upgrade to that!
