Back in March 2009, I bought my Motorola modem at Walmart; it was already coupled with Comcast self-install kit in the same box. I think I paid $55.00.
Hooked it up, called Comcast to activate it, they offered me 3 months at half price, and then I saw Google's logo.
I have had zero downtime since then (8 months ago) that I've noticed.
And trust me, I'm not joking about that.
I've had DSL before, more than once, at different addresses. DSL always would stop, or pause, sometimes. Not with Comast highspeed internet.

I was, nearly ten years ago, a beta tester for early cable internet service in my community. The company was then MediaOne, and had partnered with the city and a large company to wire the city for broadband. Those first days were great: $30/mo, UNCAPPED speed (the node is right outside my window). The original install was by a team of bright guys who were interested in setting me up correctly.
As the provider changed from MediaOne to ATT to Comcast, pricing went up while speed caps went down, reliability went down, customer service slid off the western hemisphere, and my frustration level went up.
At this point, I pay for the highest tier: 8800 DL/768 UL. As far as speed goes, I'm nearly as happy as I was nearly a decade ago at nearly twice the original price. Since Comcast is a de facto monopoly here, I have no competitive choice for broadband internet, which certainly colors my opinion - I expect a high level of service since I have no alternative other than dialup. The service goes down rarely, so except when I choose to talk to customer service, I'm pretty happy.

I ordered the $19.99/month for 6 months deal plus $70 for cable modem plus $24 of miscellaneous fee's on the first month's bill. That totals $35.66/month. This deal advertises a rebate for the cable modem. The cable modem rebate requires 2 copies of Comcast bills. The rebate expires 3 months after service starts. You have about a 2 week window to fullfill the rebate.

I was with DSL for years and wanted more than 6mbs. ATT Uverse was delayed since I had non-ATT DSL so I opted for Comcast with their 22mbs hype. WOW what a huge mistake, I have it 10 days and 3 different evenings I have huge service interruptions and slowness. IThe cable modem will drop off line sometimes, other times I run speed tets and barely get 1-2mbs download out of 22!! While their cutomer support is easy to reach and in the US, they are quick to blame anything other than their service! Needless to say I have UVerse on order and will give up some of the the bandwidth to get back to a reliable internet connection. I am amazed how Comcast survives with such inferior infrastructure!

Update 11/9 Comcast finished their analog repos in October and subsequently added about 40 HD channels to our lineup, with more hopefully to come late November or early December. I'm very content with what we get, and this review has been updated to reflect that. Go Comcast!
Update 4/20 Comcast is rolling along now with adding HD and analog repos. It took them a few months, but they added 12 HD channels in the past 2 weeks. MLB HD on 4/1, and 11 HD channels on 4/7. Just announced this past Friday, MSNBC and TCM are moving to digital only next month. Consistency is great, more HD expected. We're getting there...
Update 12/30 Comcast is doing some analog repos on 1/27, I expect to see new HD channels added after that date. I'll update my review once they do add new HD.
However, I do have GREAT news on the internet front. Comcast never ceases to amaze me. They've bumped my speeds finally to 12/2, and Docsis 3.0 is available. Now, to only convince my father to let us upgrade to the Ultra tier....
Update 12/7
Can you believe it? Still only 26 HD channels. Comcast can shove it for all I care, Verizon bumped up Woodbridge for the FiOS roll out from 2010 to mid next year so I'm jumping ship and will be paying the ETF when FiOS is available on my block. It's the 21st century Comcast, not the mid 1900's! They've failed to step up to the plate, and I'm reflecting my review to show that.
Fast forward to August 26th.
We still only have 26 HD channels with none coming on the horizon. What gives? Comcast sucks. The triple play is great and all, but they suck when it comes to HD service (of which I have 2 HDTVs). Changing my review to reflect that.
Edit 2/16/08: Comcast Technician came out to diagnose VoD problem. Checked out the work that the contractor had done, said it was crap and he was going to report the contractor to his supervisor. Tech will come back tomorrow to run a 2nd dedicated line into our house to fix the problem.
Edit 2/5/2008:
Alright! Install went great, the tech was REALLY nice.
He gave me a free amp and installed it along with rewiring a certain area by the splitters.
I gave the tech free reign in where to put the eMTA and wiring, he really enjoyed that. Put it and made sure the wiring was clean and neat. Got everything on the CDV end working within 1 hour or so (the people on the phone were taking forever to pick up to activate everything).
The internet was a different story. For some reason they put my modem into a walled garden mode. He couldn't figure it out why it wasn't working (didn't know then it was getting the walled garden config file). Put in a service ticket for someone to come tomorrow. Later I went into the logs of the modem and saw the wrong config file, called Comcast. had them remove the modem, add it back and send the right config file. All fixed
All in all so far everything is great. I get all my channels that I'm supposed to, CDV voice quality is just as good, if not better than Verizon POTS. Internet works just as it was before. Amplifier works great.
A++ for Comcast. I think I'm going to be staying with them for a while now...
______________
Had no other choice besides satellite broadband, too expensive for that. Have 6/384 for $42.95 with PowerBoost, Self Install Kit from Best Buy (free modem!)
Have a SB5120 that I am noticing is faltering a bit. Maybe have to replace it soon. Comcast tech support really nice, have helped me a lot when I needed it.
Current stuff I have with them:
HSI Performance Tier, Digital Preferred Cable, 2 STB's (1 HD, 1 SD). Ordered Zee TV at $12.95/mth
Total cost per month comes to something like $148.xx after all the fees and stuff.
Had Comcast come out and replace the splitter at the pole for digital cable problems, noticed my internet speeds have SKYROCKETED. Now getting full PB (12mb down, 1.5.mb up), awesome and stable internet connection. Modem has also righted itself somehow.
Totally worth it. Go for it if you have the choice!
Edit: I will be getting the Triple Play on Thursday if Comcast can port my number over from Verizon. Otherwise I'll switch to a double play and Verizon Freedom Essentials. Will post back Tuesday or Wednesday updating phone porting situation.
Oh yeah forgot to add Comcast bumped us up to either 6000/768 or 6000/1000 for the performance tier.

Comcast Cable internet was recently upgraded in my area (20112), allegedly going fiber between transmission hubs. This upgrade boosted DSLreports speed tests to around 20/4MB. My wife and I both work from home and VPN to our place of business simultaneously. I definitely noticed an improvement in performance and stability and have had no service outages since the upgrade.
Cons for Comcast are the same I've experienced with every other cable company, customer service. If you can deal with the waits (5 hour windows), no-shows, canceled appointments, the "Oh, I don't do that you'll have to reschedule with X department" etc. to get it set up, the performance of the service is better than anything but FIoS.

We had always used Frontier for our DSL and phone services, until the advent of 4mb Comcast Cable internet! After which, we canceled our Frontier account and that was the first day of freedom!!!! (freedom from contracts, and freedom from outages)
We now have HSI (16mb @ $29.99), CDV (Unltd. @ $14.99), and Cable (Premier @ $42) Installation and service calls have been a breeze, with friendly technicians and prompt arrivals. We currently have DCX & DCH HDDVR's, along with an Arris TM602G to handle our internet and phone.
