I too only have internet with them, and this is one of the best services in the area you can get: Hugh's Net service falls into the absolute worse ($80/mo for limited bandwidth).
Back to CommuniComm: Pre-Sales were very informative. While the representative didn't know a question I was asking about networking ports on their server, she took less than 1 minute to ask and find out. They deserve a 5 here, because ask and you receive.
Install: I've never heard of anyone else having had a problem, but for me, they did a no call/no show first day. I called and they told me they would send someone out the next day. I had to call them back next day, and they sent someone out later. They did, however, waive my installation fee, as an apology. 3, because they messed up a couple times, but made up for my lost work time.
Connection: When I first got it, first several days, I had issues with no internet every couple or few hours, for 5-15 minutes at a time. Later, the tech came and fixed a wiring problem, I assume.
They also have frequent outages, ESPECIALLY in the Cameron LA area it sounds like, as when I call the number to report anything, I hear random places sometimes, but Cameron being one area about 1/3 the times I've called. Tonight, I've been without internet for 11 hours so far (I'm connected now through my slow cell phone). They said a surge resister is being replaced about half an hour ago. Half a day for a multi-town outage, into my second month. Rating of 3, because of being without internet 11 hours so far today, and constantly hearing of town outages (but at least they have it on a recording, so customers don't have to wait on hold to find out). They did however credit me for the first month's problems, I believe, which is why it's not 2: because
Tech Support: If this is regarding the customer representatives alone, it gets a 5: The people I spoke with are all very respectful and friendly. Talking to many of them feels much like talking to a friend you haven't talked to for years. They are always very attentive, and don't try to make "BS" excuses when their people mess up, which to me, is an important principle.
Services: I really didn't know what to put here: internet is internet, and I already stated the reliability problem. But they did compensate me for alot of problems first month, so I'll count their taking responsibility as an act of service.
Value: I've had several internet carriers in different towns and states. While they are the CHEAPEST cable internet I've found, they also are sometimes unreliable: I feel sorry for people in Cameron. My wife's grandfather has Hugh's Net, and Hugh's Net still cuts off more then ours does, but it doesn't stay up compared to others, such as RoadRunner and ComCast. 4, because to me, an internet with this speed (average, really) would need to be reliable (under 10 DCs over 5 minutes a month, and be under $30/mo.
They are unreliable, so while it's a great deal, it's not as perfect as it could be, simply and only because of their connection issues.

Promised (up to 8 Meg) service. Pay attention the to the (up to) part. Because the fast speed test was at 3 AM 4.23 down/ 533 up. Most days between 3 pm and 10 PM 1.2 down/ 498 up. Now if I were paying $5.00 per month this would be ok , But at $45.00 NET COMMANDER SUCKS!! The sales folks there will say whatever it takes to get your business. When the installer shows up . Its like he s programed what to say and nothing more. After he leaves . Your trouble begains. Slow , freeze ups, No service . lost connection when your in the middle of a document. If you have not got the message yet. Go ahead get net commander. You will wish you had read . And ran from these JERKS.

Went in on a Friday, was hooked up and ready to go the following Tuesday morning. So far, we are completely happy with this. We only have their high-speed net, didnt get the TV. We have just moved over here to Tazewell from Thorn Hill, and just rid our home of the worst isp know to man, frontier communications. So at the moment we are awestruck, 35-50ms pings, 7-8mbps DL, 1.1-2mbps Up, thats around 7-8 times better than what we have been paying $60 a month for in Thorn Hill. First year is $24 per month, then it goes to $50, still $10 cheaper for 7x the isp. So its easy to see why we are so happy. My brother has been a Communicomm customer for over a year now with no problems at all. All i can say is, its nice to finally get what your paying for. You can see my problems with frontier on this site also, search for frontier, with zip code 37881, or under my screen name. Keep up the good work Communicomm!

I have the same internet and it is absolutely horrible. Ive been told by 3 of their techs its because they have to many clients for what they can provide. I'm getting around .50 Mb/s at best and my ping averages from 200ms to around 900ms during peak times. This is the most ridiculous excuse for an internet company I've seen. There cable is terrible as well, they don't broadcast anything digital with their digital cable box. Whats the point of having it. I've complained several times, and even had the general manager over Alabama call me several times. There planning an upgrade in April to an 8 Mb server and one of the techs even told me he didn't know if that would hold all the traffic. As soon as i find something else I'm getting rid of this bs. Just another example of a company taking advantage of the little guys.

Visiting my parents. They've been promised 1.5 Mb service for months. Just got it only after complaining again that the speeds were under dial-up during the day and around 256 Kb at night. They were told that they were on an 800 Kb service. Never heard of that, but that's what they advertise. After complaining again they told us to reset the modem. Would have been nice had they notified my folks, in some manner, of this need.
Now the speeds are better, some of the time. The web service was on and off tonight. My father says this happens. He doesn't use his machine for the web that much so he's not that aware of the speeds or connection that much nor is my mother and they are pretty much "go with the flow" people.
If I lived in this town I'd grudgingly go with ATT.
This is over priced basic tv and internets access.

I host a radio show over the internet which runs at 96kb/s on most streams. When I had DSL, many were telling me to go with cable and VOIP. Well, I went for cable first and put in the order after considering it for a week. When I finally got it installed, I noticed that the tech didn't hear me when I specifically told him my ethernet port didn't work and that he'd have to go through USB. I had to do that for him and it still didn't work.
This was only the first of many fights I've had with them. Part of this business is getting indie/unsigned bands publicity that they wouldn't normally get from anyone else. Well, two and a half years later, I'm still fighting them.
Among my chief complaints are the following:
1. Connection kept taking a dive for two years because there was a faulty connection...and it was arcing on my house, causing a fire hazard.
2. After Hurricane Ike, the time it took to fix it was bloody awful. It included many calls and a tech that kept coming in, doing something and saying "Okay, that should do it." and leaving without even making sure. I ended up going to New Jersey on October 21st and it still hadn't been fixed.
3. They actually issued a ticket from tech support and I didn't see hide nor hair of a tech for three weeks. I had to call again. This time, I got a tech who told me that there's nothing he could do and that my 3mb connection should sort itself out.
4. When they did have an office here in town...it was never open. Imagine walking in the heat down to the office only to find out that you have to now walk back across town, get your checkbook and mail a check out because they're not in...again.
5. The jobs done in terms of service are anything but thorough.
6. I was able to reach 96 kb/s upload speed at one point in time and now I can't even get my program for live webcasting to connect to a server that's located right here in town. When I do a speedtest now...it reads 61 kb/s for an upload speed...something tells me they downgraded my package without telling me and if that's the case, I'd be willing to join any local class-action lawsuits for the damage this has done to my 'net-based business.
Look, your best bet is to go with CenturyTel DSL. The connection wasn't always that great (those times were few and far between) but it was solid, never went down and was pretty awesome most of the time if you lived as close to the base station as I do.
I tried avoiding this but, geez, two-and-a-half years? What are they waiting for, Divine Intervention?

I have been with Communicomm a.k.a. Netcommander Internet Service now for around three years I guess. When I first signed up it was a 1.5mb service, and was way better than my former DSL service. I was happy until there was a problem. And there have been quite a few of them. They have so many outages or glitches, that I could not possibly think about getting VOIP phone service. I have since been upgraded to a 3.0mb service, and when it is working properly, and they are allowing me to have full bandwidth operation, it works well and online gaming ping times are low. That's all the good I can muster to say about this company.
There are many problems with this service. First of all, calling the local office is impossible. If I call their number, I either get a fax machine, or get directed to what I'm told, by the person on the other end, is a service not affiliated with Communicomm that is only there to assist with troubleshooting and take complaints. Not much help there.
I complained about my modem crashing after being turned on for more than 6 hours, nobody offered a replacement. Every time it would lock up, I'd have to cycle power to get it to reset. Not a huge deal, but annoying none the less. Not to mention, that's not how it is supposed to work. My work around was just to leave it hooked up to a power strip with all the other peripherals. Use it when I need it, turn it off afterwards. One Communicomm tech complained that I was doing that, I told him to replace my modem and I would leave it on 24/7, nothing happened.
Our cable was lying on the ground in my yard for almost two years as the anchor point pulled off of my house. I complained about it multiple times and never got results. Finally it took getting completely furious with them and sending multiple e-mails to them, as well as rude phone calls to get everything fixed. The neighbors cable is still hanging very low across his yard and plenty of cable lying in the ditch down the road. Well over two years after the hurricane, nothing done about it. The phone company had everything cleaned up in a couple weeks.
I have had quite a few occasions where my internet got really slow. Complaints seem to go ignored. Raise a huge fuss about it, the local internet tech clicks his magic mouse, and service is restored. A little over a week ago, my 3.0mbps service was down to a max of 400kbps or .4mbps. That is little more than 13% of what I am paying for. I do not find that acceptable. I call and complain to the contracted service. They contact the local office. A service person actually calls me. She says she sees no problem with my service, but will upgrade me to the next higher level of service to see if it would help. That bumped me up to a max of 800kbps download, about 250kbps up. Whatever she did had the appearance of an improvement, and I was assured a tech would be by to fix the problem. That was on Dec. 31st. A few days go by, no tech. I make another call, get the call back, and get asked to go to the local office to pick up a replacement modem to see if that helps. AT LAST! A REPLACEMENT MODEM. Didn't fix the slow internet, but now I can leave it turned on. A couple more days go by, no tech shows up at my house, but three Communicomm vans in the driveway half a mile down the road. I get upset and do some internet research. I find complaints that Communicomm will limit your bandwidth without telling you, if they feel you are using too much of what you are paying for. I call a friend and ask him to bring over his modem. It proved to be true. His modem got the full 3.0mb download speed with no problems. Mine still at 800kbps download, about 250k up.
UPDATE: January 7th I finally got through to a service person in Georgia, two time zones away. She looked up my account and was very puzzled to find that I was paying $51.95 a month, and my account was set at 256k. She said somebody changed it to that on December 31st, (the last time I talked to a local tech person on the phone.) She corrected the problem, but could offer no explanation or possible reason why my account was set to one of the lowest speed services, while still charging me $51.95. She was polite and helpful, which was very nice after an hour or so on the phone trying one option after another to see if I could get a person in a local office. I still have yet to hear from our local service people. I am highly considering going back to DSL.

Communicomm.com provides internet access in a reliable mannor (unlike when they first started out), however, in an effort to allow their services to run reliably, they must butcher the news service to allow you to only download a few text based messages or 1-2 binary messages. Sad to say, other than the access to the internet, I can get better service for $9.95/month on dial-up. In fact, when moving to a new house, we was told we'd have to wait 1 week for them to re-hook up our internet. In a way, I can't wait to get me a regular phone line and modem in the my room again. I can always run phone lines all over the house, and the phone company had the phone hooked up in less than a day. Now that I moved DSL should be offered again, if so I'll have to strongly consider weather I want to keep cable internet... Choice has power!
