Ordered the service and within two and a half weeks we were up and running. The service has been great so far. The only thing that has been a slight problem is that when the service has gone down it was down for most of the day. But I still think they have a good track record with our company.

The equipment that they provided works great.

When Bell Atlantic (Verizon) came to do the circuit termination he put a RJ11 Jack in our datacomm room. With in 3 hours of the jack being terminated the DSL.net service was active and working.

I then called the DSL.net install service told them what was going on. They then did a stress test on the line and gave me call back saying that everything was good and we may go ahead and use the service. For this case they did not have to send anyone to Vermont to do this install.

"amazing wiring subcontractor on original install, no downtime"

"medium performance(high speed)/high reliability provider"

4 site review. Installed in scheduled time. Wiring subcontractor (Williams Communications )had to bring line from three buildings away in this multistory medical complex. Total install including testing was done in two hours. No downtime since install, which was done in early august .

This was installed at one of our clients. Any referral fees from vendors are given to our clients. We have clients on three other dsl vendors and two cable firms, each at a different point on the price performance scale.

Back in march of 2000 dsl.net had problems with another link being routed properly which kept us from putting it in production for one month . Order took 4 monthes to install, which I attribute to Bell Atlantic needing their own offering out first (I know from other sources that dsl was possible at the time of order). Must actively review options in contracts. No problems since we went into production . Downtime on that link was 1 minute 34 seconds in total since March. Had several hours of late night downtime.

Other sites - some coordination problems with Verizon. No longer see Williams Communications subcontractor . Setting up of business services is sponradic and frequently requires extra effort. Good once setup on their end.

    Update on 4/17/01:
Increased speed from 784 to 1568 about two months ago. Previously was getting up to 97% of rated speed. with a low of about 70%. Now getting 80% of rated speed maximum, althought using VPN locally will push it up to 97%. Typical rated speed utilization of 60-70% as measured by the router. I have seen it fall to 39% [in multiple computer download from sevreal high performace sites] . Previously this was blamed on undercapacity in NYC as a result of pickup up many clients from dead DSL firms. Also observed change in network structure. Was supposed to be solved with increased NYC capacity. Now suggest as being within their performance obligations . Waiting for test site in NYC on their net to verify performance problem not between Charleston and NYC (they may just have my bandwidth chocked down, or link may not be able to handle my speed). Also have not gotten multiple dns entries for web site corrected yet, but I have not fully pushed them on this.

Previously rated all 5's except value which was a 4. new values for last two
    months.

Even though speed is dropping ( now better than last month, especially at 784 or less sites), reliability remains at 100%, thus perfect for VPN.

My hat is off to DSL.net.We were a Flashcom victim and our switch was

Tom Topping, was and continues to be extremely helpful. We could not
have hoped for a better company to provide our dsl services.

We had a Flashcom deal in a small office in NYC. It never worked very well even when Flashcom was a viable company. When Covad finally allowed other ISPs to take the Flashcom customers, they steered me towards DSL.net. The process couldn't have been easier and they were extremely knowledgeable. It did take an extra two days to convert the circuit from the original schedule (I think this was really a Covad issue), but I was kept informed during the entire process. The tech support given to me for reprogramming the router (Flowpoint 2200) was top notch and right on the money! We kept the original circuit speed (1.5Mbps) and pricing dropped slightly from Flashcom and now the service actually works! Highly recommended....

Pasadena,Los Angeles,CA
$345 per month (12 month contract)
SBC
CLEC party: Covad
"Sales person was very helpful. She really made an effort to get things right"
"Very poor customer service and tech support on weekends. If you go down on a Saturday, be prepared to wait 'til Monday for fix."
"Sales people are helpful, tech support after hours and on weekends is non-existent. Install not yet completed."

Value for money:

My old DSL provider, Fastpoint Communications went backrupt and will cease service at the end of this month.
Per the customer letter I received from Covad, they identified an ISP that would take my account. (DSL.net)

DSL.net's salesperson was extremely helpful. I mentioned to her that I need to route my own portable
Class "C" network thru the DSL connection. Although she didn't know exactly what I was talking about, she
diligently checked with the engineering staff and they said it would be no problem - They would advertise the
routes to my Class "C", the only thing I would have to do is to arrange for the old route to stop being advertised.

I faxed my paperwork in on a Thursday, and lo & behold on Friday at 5:00pm my connection totally goes down.
I became very frustrated at not being able to reach ANYONE at my old ISP (Fastpoint) to see if the problem was
on their end. I became even more frustrated at not being able to reach anyone at Covad who could tell me if the
    ISP switch actually took place.

To make matters worse, upon calling DSL.net's tech support, I was informed that they could not check into
ANYTHING related to my account - I would have to call back on Monday. I tried calling their tech support several
times over the weekend and each time I was greeted to the same answer. This seems strange to me, since one
of the reasons I signed up for their service was a note on their web page (and also on the ISP info page here),
    that states:

"Our dedicated Network Operations Center is working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year proactively
monitoring your connections. The center is always available for fast trouble resolution.
Please call us at 1-800-455-5546 for assistance with any of the following:
    [ text deleted]
    Coordinating customer installs
Reporting problems or service interruptions "

Now, my problem appears to fit into both of the above catagories. I think one of the things that should be
noted for ANY company that advertises 24 hour customer service is that they empower the customer service
reps (or at least give them resources) to handle customer problems 24 hours. Just having a person answer the
phone 'round the clock, but who is unable to solve problems, is useless. I also think the DSL industry needs to
take a hard look at coordination issues in general. (with the CLECs, ISPs, LECs, and, of course, the customer)

I guess one of the lessons to be learned is that in addition to reading the ISP reviews here, try calling their
tech support number on a weekend and test their responsiveness.

I signed up for a 12 month contract, but unless I can get going very soon, I will cancel with them and go with
another ISP. As for the contract, I believe I can get out of it, due to "breach of contract" on their part.

Before I dialed that 800 number, I knew NOTHING about DSL...and then I was told I had to be in charge of ordering it for our clients, OUCH! We had gone through many different companies and shopping around before calling DSL.net, and I was never given any contact to call back if we decided to go through that company...Finally, I stumbled along a DSL.net postcard I got in the mail, dropped them a line, and was (quickly I might add) connected right to a person who acted like they gave a darned about my company...

The first order I placed was for 5 locations, and within almost TWO weeks one of them was completely setup. Every step was explained to me, as far as the process, and what would be happening, and I was given a status of my orders almost daily, I was really kept informed...Our client is really happy with the entire process...and so is my company. The customer relations makes DSL.net worth it, not to mention the DSL side of the deal.

Frederick,Frederick,MD
$109 per month (12 month contract)
about 30 days
Verizon
CLEC party: DSL.Net
"Only place that even offered service where I live, multiple static IP's"
"Ended up with IDSL instead of SDSL. More expensive than ADSL but work pays for it..."
"I would recommend them."

Tried SDSL first - pre-qual was iffy - they said they would try. When bell finally tested the circuit they said it couldn't qualify. I wenbt back to dsl.net and asked about IDSL and after some research they delivered. End result was IDSL (144k/144k) for $109/mo. and $100 install. It's been rock solid since the install and I have 13 static IP's. Negatives during the install were that they didn't notify me of the inside install date but the tech called me and I was able to meet him without putting it off. Overall, I'm happy. It's not cheap but work pays for most of it. I replaced ISDN where I was paying about the same per month in total and got an always-on connection at a very slightly faster speed -- i was mostly interested in the always-on and static IP's anyway...

My provider DSL.Net,Inc. - They have jumped through hoops for me - they got
my website up and running in a matter of hours so that it would be available
in tandem with a press release. Even when they needed info and I wasn't
reachable they found someone in my company to work with and got everything
rolling with out my help. Talk about proactive. This is the high water
mark for customer service. So refreshing! Everyone was polite and
professional on top of it all. PGR Media in Providence, Rhode Island
