When I moved to Cedar Rapids, Qwest allowed me to pre-order my telephone line but not DSL. On the morning of my move, a Tuesday, I called Qwest to order the Qwest Choice DSL Deluxe package with Avalon as my ISP. The package offers ADSL at speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps down / 900 kbps up at $49 per month ($28 to Qwest for the line, $18 to Avalon for the Internet connection, and $3 to Qwest to rent the Actiontec GT701-wg modem/router, although it is also available for purchase at $60). The next morning, Avalon's manager called me to confirm my address so that the setup instructions and order form could be sent out. I received the paperwork on Thursday. Since I wasn't able to get the paperwork back in the mail that day, I took it to Avalon's office on Friday. I dropped off the paperwork at 2 pm and returned home to find that my new modem/router had been delivered. By 6 pm, the line was operational. Haven't done a speed test yet, but the modem's status menu shows that the line is trained at 1536 kbps down / 1024 kbps up. Internet access by multiple computers using NAT worked immediately.

"Everything except Qwest" "Took a long time for installation, but that was Qwest's fault" "Amazing DSL service"

I could not be any happier with Avalon Networks. Qwest had told me that I couldn't get DSL at all, so I was on ATT@Home cable modem for a few months. After continual problems with ATT@Home, I reinvestigated DSL in my area and found Avalon Networks.
According to Qwest I still couldn't get DSL (even though I was under 1200 feet from the CO), but Avalon Networks worked to find a way, and I have DSL despite what Qwest said. Their service staff is some of the most knowledgeable I have seen in an ISP.
I have one static IP and they allow servers so I am able to do everything I need and want on my DSL line.

AVALON ROCKS!! Avalon Networks got me DSL! I can't say enough good stuff about their efforts in pushing the CLEC/Telco to get their butts in gear. It took a long time, but my SDSL 384k connection is solid all the time. And their tech support (which is not 24/7) can't be beat.
I got a static IP, 4 emails, 30MB of space, & promised latency of less than or equal to 50ms. Speed tests during peak usage times are 320 (give or take 5). I've been using the service for 3 months.
