    1.5mbs down/512kbs up

    $39.95 they installed

Waiting list was good, was told 2 months, got it 2 weeks early

2 dynamic ip's addr( acting like static though)

I've have Telus ADSL for a few months now, after completing registry tweaks with the help of DSLreport.com and trial and error(NO HELP WHAT SO EVER FROM TELUS TECH'S) the techs didn't even know how to add numbers to a person's registry setting's to get the proper speeds for your package. I have increased my download speeds from 468kbs to 1.2mbs(no lie). But NOW after 2 months of good speeds, ping rates are starting to go up now ON MY LINE, I thought I was the only one who used this line, I am the only one who uses my phone. I used to be a stable 39ms, but now it's getting as high as 130ms. If I wanted 130ms ping rates I would have stayed with my 56 dialup which I got 109ms ping rates with. Ping rates are still reasonable but hey, "I'm paying for it, I want it". Now I called and asked SALES, they referred me to the TECH dept., I have been trying for the past TWO days to get through, but a guy can only put up with that stupid voice recording for so long, "thanks for holding, your call will be answered faster than dialing again." WRONG, it don't get answered at all. And if you DO need help about advanced ISSUES, they can't help you. In the long run, Telus ADSL is VERY good, I've stated my issues as you just read, they just need better tech SUPPORT.

High ping rates that went above 1000ms, have been solved, problem with Sprintlink.net and I guess a bad router(S)

DON'T get cablerocket if you live in the Grande PRairie area and can get TELUS, they just absolutely SUCK and in town support is null.

Ordered 1.5Mbit/512kbit basic service using QuickCOnnect pkg (do-it-yourself with no on-site installer) -- purchased C$309 3COM modem & C$30 NIC -- get C$159 credit on ADSL charges and C$5 off monthly charge so only C$35. (C$ = US$.67)
    Process was:
    1) Wait on a list
    2) Get e-mail to register
    3) Call customer service, order service, get ID/Pswd/e-mail; give credit card
    4) Purchase ethernet NIC and 3COM ADSL-Ethernet modem
    5) Install NIC, modem, put supplied filters on analog devices on the line
    6) Wait 5 business days for ADSL
    7) See green ADSL indicator on modem after only 4 days!
    8) Complete registration online to activate service
    9) Connect to DSLReports.com to get tweaks and run tests.

    Service is dynamic IP (DHCP)

Vendor is Telus (BC Canada) Details covered in the panels. Good value and solid help. No snags. Slow speeds in evening hours. Tried cable and this is much better and cheaper. 2 Static IP's supplied. Self-install ran fine from manual. Waiting list was 2-years plus, though.

Rogers@Home claims there .10 Mb/s service is 100 times faster than a analog modem . I used to live in Toronto and obtain speeds of excess of 2.6 Mb/s Up or Down with my Cable but since I moved to BC Robers@Home just got worse so I couldn't handle it. BCTel (Telus) was the way to go. So to make a long story short, after spending 2 weeks approx with Tier 2 support and having my connection pampered for optimal speeds my top speeds where 1.1Mbps downstream with the 72 dollar package (this was the only package available at the time) which claimed I was suppose to achieve 2.5 Mbps speeds. I waited sometime and switched to a new 42 dollar package which put me in the proper 1.5Mbps speed. Well there was not much to complain I couldn't achieve 2.5 Mbps speeds due to the distance to the CO so great... I was set, wrong! after a good 1 year my speed tops out at .51 Mbps downstream. UUUGGGGHHH I scream... So I call up Tier 1 support and say listen... this is what happened before.. this is what's happening now.. I get put on hold by MR. IMGOINGTOKICKYOUINASSSOON comes back to tell me oh anything above 50Mbps is acceptable. I pull my hair out and literally want to beat the guy in with my fist at this point. Later I confirm this with a friend I have in Tier 2 Support. Anyways, this is my story... What I don't understand is WHATEVER HAPPENED TO DEDICATED CONNECTIONS!!??? If I had to pay 100 dollars for a Dedicated 2.5/3.0 Mbps connection I would... I wouldn't even argue if I had to wait 1 year... Whatever happened to a fixed user base, so if you exceed XXX amount of users you say we are accepting NO more users at this current time. This A) Says your dedicated to your current Cx Base and B) Says your not a greedy bastard.

    Sincerly,

    A FAITHFUL TELUS Cx

P.S. So you say you have a 700 Mbps pipe to the internet ? I got faster speeds when your pipe was 450 Mbps!!

I have the professional package ADSL in Kelowna, BC. At first I was at about 2 megs download, when I was supposed to have 2.5 megs. After complaining a lot(they must have a huge record on me), they did something and now I get about 2.8-3.5 megs so I can't really complain about that speed.

I must say that the dependibility of the service, for basic uses, is incredible. I'd say I've had about 97% uptime since I've got it. Before, when I had Shaw@home, my service would go down every week for days at a time. Accessing my mail was 50/50 that I'd get it. So, I'm very happy. They're webmail service always keeps me in touch with my email wherever I go. I have a roaming telus dialup account which is great for testing peoples inet connections. With my Win2k box, I can get about 400-500 KB(that's Bytes, not bits)ps.

Notice how I said basic uses, like web browsing. The main reason I have a speedy inet connection is because I like to play games. So do my roommates. As of late, I'm guessing because of the students in school using napster and such, my ping in games has gone from 20-100 ms to 3.5 seconds(3500ms). Mainly because of substandard sprintlink routers that telus sends their packets through. I've talked with tech support about 5 times now about the problem, and either they tell me they're doing work, or they tell me that they can't do anything about the ping times. Personally, if I'm paying 75 bucks after tax for an internet connection that guarantees speed, I want speed. That means ping times to me. 3.5 seconds extra too a webpage makes a big diffence to me =)

Otherwise, when my ping drops to normal speeds, I'm incredibly happy with my service. I'd say got for DSL over cable pretty much anyday.

I live in vancouver, BC. I got my ADSL line in February of 1998. Since then I've had about a week of downtime. About 5 of those days was due to me moving. The service has been excellent and since I moved last month, I was finally put onto the new network and my transfer rates have increased by about 25%. I have nothing but good things to say about tech support who have helped me a couple times with prompt service and they seem pretty knowledgeable. The email support is kinda slow (2 - 3days if at all). I have no complaints about Telus, in contrast to some friends who have had Rogers Cable (since moved on to ADSL).

I ordered Telus' HomeConnect ADSL service and picked up the package at a Telus store in Calgary. The connection was promised in 5 days but actually took 7 days. No service call was required I just plugged everything in myself. The main problem came when I logged on to register my computers and get an IP address allocated. I was never told that the password to that site was a telus password not my password, and several of the phone support people didn't know either. I have two computers (one Win95 one Win98) a 3Com hub and the 3Com ADSL modem (supplied by Telus).

I previously had two lines with a 56k dialup modem. I am getting consistent downloads at 1500Kbps and uploads at 500Kbps. Telus provide 4 microfilters for the analogue devices on the line. I used a single filter at the incoming connection box making all of my old line one inside the house a filtered line and connecting a straight through connection to my old line two which I use for the ADSL line. As I have at least 8 devices on the analogue line including a security system, two satellite TV receivers as well as three phones, answering machine and a couple of other modems this was the easy way to do it and everything works perfectly.

I can recommend the Telus QuickConnect ADSL as a quick and easy way to get connected at a reasonable price.

I switched from cable to Telus ADSL earlier this year, and have been
very happy with it so far. The speed is consistently good, and I'm
having none of the problems I had been having with cable (eg., mail
server outages, slow news server). Only once did I need to call
Tech Support after install, and that turned out to be a hardware
problem with their modem -- which they replaced.

The 90 days from order to on is misleading... when I finally got
fed up with my cable company's service, I called Telus and found
out that my exchange was not ready for DSL yet, but was going to be
soon. I put myself on the waiting list. Several weeks later, they
notified me that they were now ready to go in my neighbourhood.
I could have had in install within two weeks of that time, except
I needed a Saturday installation (not being able to take time off
work to have it done on a weekday), and the first available Saturday
was several more weeks away. About half the 90-day period noted above
was waiting for DSL to become available in my exchange, the other half
was waiting for the first available Saturday.

I have the 2.5Mbit package from Telus and constantly score test results of 2.2Mbits on this sites speed tester. When you consider overhead it is bang on what I am suppose to receive. My browser usually reports between 260-280 kbps all day long even during peak hours. Great job Telus, by the way I heard rumors of them being in the process of making changes to the RADSL system in order to bump up speed. Anyone know if this is true?
