Got DSL this DSL link over 2 years ago. It's been fairly stable, although there have been 1 or 2 problems that are more than likely related to impedance that they have not been able to track down properly. I'm on the old Netspeed 202 equipment so I get the 2.5 down by 1.0 Mbps service with 5 NAT addresses on the 10.x.x.x series.

Installation was great, the Telus guy was knowledgeable, although their tech people have no idea how to fix a problem that I've already diagnosed and know to be an issue.

It would be nice if they could provide me with external IPs and have the delegated to my DNS server on my other DSL line for reverse DNSing. Oh well, can't have it all..

Overall quite nice, too bad they don't use much of the Netspeed 202/Cisco 675 equip anymore since the speeds are better.

My name is Ron McOuat from the Greater Vancouver BC area. I got the only service available when it first came out (Jan 1999) which is now called the Professional service (up to 4MBits). Several friends at the time were telling me the competition (cable) was delivering service worse than 57.6K dialup during the busy evening hours and their TV ads knocking the phone line as technically unfeasable galled me. I get 3Mbits download at 4500 feet from the CO. The installer upgraded the line termination, installed and tested without a hitch. The first day the DNS/DHCP server went down for an hour and I have had one more outage of DNS/DHCP servers since for an hour possibly. The modem is a 27020 Mainstreet from Newbridge, a dynamic IP which hasn't changed in months is provided.

My name is Myles and I live in Calgary Alberta, I've been a Telus subscriber for a few years now but just ordered the $40/month 1.5Mb/512K RADSL earlier this year. I had to wait 6 months for my hook-up due to the popularity, but the installation went smooth even though I use Linux. I've been very happy with their service and the speed is excellent with the 3com modem. Tech support wasn't needed in my case, so the fact that they don't "officially" support linux was moot - however chances are that sooner or later you will speak to someone there who will admit to using Linux regularily. I've talked with several over time

Recently switched from "Videon" cable modem to "telus.net" ADSL.
Videon mail service unreliable, cannot connect at least 50% of the time.
telus.net is ROCK solid, I regularly achieve 200Kbps download speeds from any site anywhere in the world, my plan allows for up to 2.5 Mbps download speeds (which no one ever seems to get). Excellent remote access and terrific National (Canada) coverage for dial-up access which is INCLUDED in the plan. My plan includes Domain Hosting.

I have had Telus' ADSL service for about 4 months now and i just love it. I have the $40 plan, 1.5/512. I get better than those speeds because i'm just a block away from my CO =). Only thing is i think i could get better speeds if my copper wire wasn't 20years old =0. I gave the install co-ordination 5 stars because when they came and set it up, everthing went smoothly. Only thing i didn't like is that i had to wait 6 months for it. They would tell me "your neighbourhood will have access next month", but no. Connectioin reliability is greet. Only once have i had the service go down due to vandalism at the CO. One of their main cables were cut i was told. Tech support is better than usual, most of them know something bout DSL. The value is a lot better than Roger's Cable, because with DSL you get constent speeds, but with Cable it just keeps fluctuating. Only good cable i heard was the one in Surrey, BC.

My pings are great too, if you play CS you should know the server Lavalamp located in Kelowna, BC. My avg ping on that one is 20-30, the lowest i've seen it is like 15.

I would recommend this ISP to anyone living in BC.

    Jo

I live in Victoria, BC, Canada and have had ADSL for over a year now. When I ordered it there was just a 4Mbit/s package, but they have since introduced other packages. I stuck with the Professional package (which has the 4Mbit/s bandwidth). I am a few kilometers from the CO and my initial speed was 2.4Mbit/s. After doing some registry tweaks I have increased the speed to 3.2Mbit/s. I have had no disruptions in service, it has been rock stable. And I agree with toqueboy about cable... they are liars. I have tested my speed against many of my friends on cable, and I always beat them by a large margin. And on top of that, they have stability problems. The install went smoothly and I have had no problems with any of the equipment. My IP is dynamically assigned, but has only changed once since I got ADSL.

I've been subscribed to Telus (Edmonton) ADSL service for over 2 years and I am relatively happy with the overal value. As my monitoring reports indicate, their performance is rather spotty and not up to their advertisment. I've never received a downstream rate of close to 2/3 of their promised rates of 1.5Mbs and/or 2.5Mbs (Except when I accessed their homepage). I gave it a 5 stars rating for best value because their service is reliable and that helps. I still wish that the speed can be improved. After all, I installed aDSL based on the only reason of constant speed rating of DSL service over the unpredictable speed of cable service.

I signed up for Telus adsl in Vancouver BC about five months ago.
Nothing but happy with it. Forty dollars a month. Killer pings. And only
two service disruptions. One lasted an evening and I have no idea why,
the other time it was down for a day and a half, but, i had technicians
swarming. Turns out a backup generator at the CO fried a bunch of
filters on the individuals connections. On the original install, as an
added bonus, no cost, the telus tech upgraded some equipment and rewired
the security system that bypassed a ground and coulda been fried. Thanks
telus. I get consistent tested speed of 1.3 Mbps. So happy with this
service, especially when i hear the woes of my cable toting friends.
    Screw you Rogers Cable.
