$75 per month "I have never actually got full speed on this line...but, I do admit that it is quick. My upload is always good." "Takes forever for tech support to figure out a problem. Have to take matters into your own hands." "Decent service when it is running"

This review is simple.
Speed is always an issue when you service isn't preforming as expected. Now, if you were getting decent service in the past and suddenly your service drops down, I suggest calling tech support and tell them your problem...most likely they will send out a tech, or do some check on their end.
Speed varies from day to day...but I don't think I have ever had that bad of a service here.
My problems usually take about 2 weeks to repair if they do at all.
Anyhow...not exactly a great review...but decent...

Contract price not specified. "Super fast inet speeds, were able to move my install earlier by rebooking voip with no hassels" "So far so good, had issue with one box activation but one call to tech got it fixed." "I work there but only been in the service area for about 5 months, I'll keep it honest and unbias =P"

When setting up the installation I left it a bit late and due to having to wait 5 business days for the phone number to activate I was going to be getting my 3 services about 3 days after moving in. So they were able to take out my voip install and get me installed the day of moving and rebooked my voip and had that running the week after. So far so good, havent had any issues!

The Good: Fast installation: Service tech arived on site and installed the mode, made sure all was functional before departing.
Good speeds: 16 Mbit down, 1.5 Mbit up, excellent for a self-run server operation.
Good Tech support: support recognizes that you've gone through troubleshooting steps prior to calling them and doesn't try passing the blame onto the customer. tech support investigates service outage queries quickly.
The Bad: No 24/7 service techs: This is an unfortunate for an otherwise good ISP, I made a support call on early sunday, tech was sent on Monday.

**Update - Performance issues continue to the point were connectivity can be affected. I would recommend trying the other options available in Niagara before signing with Cogeco.**
I've been with Cogeco on-and-off since the service was first offered in this area (mostly on). I left for about a year when the service in my area became laughable. The following that year, Cogeco re-installed all the cabling in my area and I gave them another chance. And as expected, performance was back and so was the connection reliability that I had first experienced.
Today, connection reliability is good but performance is lacking once again. The advertised rates are almost impossible to reach unless you typically surf between midnight and sunrise during the week. Weekends can be a total write-off.
If you should bother calling tech support with performance complaints be ready for atypical scripted support . . . unplug this, clear that, swap your modem, etc.

$60 per month "when it's fast, it's fast" "when it's not fast....it's extremely slow, and this happens fairly often" "if you want an always on, reliable service, look elsewhere, if you have no choice, suck it up"

been on cogeco for 2yrs, and there's no end to pblms. high latency, frequent disconnects, you name it, but when the speed is good, it's hella fast. The advertised speed is 10M, but speed tests never go above 6M, and most of the time, it's around 4.5M. Customer support is friendly and tries to help, but their knowledge is fairly limited, and what they do A. reset your modem. B. send in techs. I tried Bell, the speed is worse, but consistent. Well, I use both now..

Cogeco was a pretty good ISP, once. Fast speeds, helpful representatives here on BBR... then, things changed. A cap was introduced. People started receiving bandwidth warnings. Although this was an unwelcome change, it was a "soft" cap and it was easy to avoid further warnings or cut-offs by limiting your uploads.
Times have changed. In September, Cogeco decided to harden the cap and start cutting users off who went over the limit by 20GB or so. Your first two warnings arrive without much bandwidth left to utilize. Be very careful. Curiously enough, they made this switch without warning. Cogeco reps and various users claimed it was fully in their right and that we shouldn't moan. Whatever. That doesn't justify neglectiging to treat your customers with respect. People didn't even have the opportunity to prepare.
If you or your household are into online media, forget it. Go with another ISP. Sure, you'll get slower speeds than on Cogeco, but IMO that trumps having to constanty "worry" about how you or your family choose to use the internet. Being cut off is no joke in this day and age (VOIP, business transactions, etc), it's a crying shame Cogeco doesn't seem to give a damn. Are there other options besides cutting people off? Absolutely. Does Cogeco care? If they did, then this fiasco wouldn't have happened.

$50 per month "FAST, and has always been very reliable here." "60gig cap on the standard package, still plenty for me to download music and such." "If you need a ton of bandwidth, not good.. Otherwise, exceptional."

Overall Cogeco has been great for me over the years... Compared to the speeds from Bell and other DSL providers available to me in my area, it's no contest, cogeco blows them away.. The only downside now is the enforced 60gig bitcaps but thats plenty enough for me to download my music and porn... Now that a lot of the bandwidth hogs are leaving for Teksavvy, it should make for better service all around... Have fun with that horrible technology in DSL..

pretty good for the price, but I am seeing myself reaching the cap before the end of the month often, but I guess I have to learn to work around it.

$48 per month about 7 days "Very fast, stable" "CAP" "Hardly worth it now that caps are enforced"
| Pre Sales information: Install Co-ordination: Connection Reliability: Tech Support: Services: Value for money: (ratings match consensus)

Update: Now that Cogeco has updated their policies to enforce a hard cap of 60GB combined, I'm really considering other options. I find that is too little even without doing any sort of P2P activity. Our household uses almost 1.5GB a day, and that's not counting P2P.
It is a pity, since the 10mbit and stability have been really nice.
