My package combined with Max TV service is supposed to give me 1.5 DL and 386 UL. However, when I have my second Max TV box turned on, it eats up my internet bandwidth without exception. Cuts it by 40 per cent consistently.
Wireless router included with service is susceptible to 2.4 Ghz phone use from you or your neighbours. Not only does it cut internet service, but also TV service because the central modem is disabled.
Bit Torrent use: Running a Bit Torrent program on SaskTel internet causes major problems. It will turn off the high speed modem and have it reset itself over and over, usually every ten minutes or so. This also disrupts your TV service! I have to use Bit Torrent only over night while my family is sleeping or they get very upset.
Skype and Joost are also not reliable because of the Bit Torrent issues.
Needless to say, I'm very unhappy with this service.
(It's the 2Wire modem/wi-fi module that gets confused during phone calls or Bit Torrent operation.)

I would understand if they decided to limit the download and upload when people use file sharing programs but to cut the connection completely is just disgraceful. Absolute rubish.

I have used Sasktel for my ISP since they came into my town with dialup 4yrs ago. Since then I upgraded to highspeed the minute it was available.
The gaming servers I use are in Chicago and I found that my ping route was taking me first to Vancouver and then back to Toronto before heading south. The extra 2000 kms of travel was explained "as the way it had to go". Then last year it all changed and was heading straight to T.O., which was great. For the past 3 months now it has gone back the other way for most of the servers but not all and due to some high latency issues in San Jose (which last all evening everyday until 1-2 am) it is unusable. The frontline tech I talked to said there is nothing that can be done and suggested I try switching to Access which is a cruel joke as they are the only provider here.
Not sure what else I can do, I included a couple of tracerts as examples

I'm updating this review because after a lot of research, and attempting a number of suggestions by reputable websites and reputable people, I've come to the conclusion that the speeds I'm getting are to be expected. Unfortunately, I've seen no noticeable increase in download speed under any situation/program/time of day since I've installed it. Maybe I had my hopes up unrealistically. (Certainly my improved UL speed has helped out others, so in that sense... yep I got my money's worth.)
SaskTel has always given me great service and in comparing it with Access Communications I would rate the service higher in terms of less down time (I used over 3 years ago.. so that may be changed by now also). I'm a strong believer in supporting Crown Corporations when there is one, so it would take a lot for me to leave this ISP.
I must say I still would have hoped that SaskTel would have had their help desk educated in the area of tweaking to make the most of a high speed connection (though, perhaps they wouldn't want to get into this in case someone ended up screwing their computer somehow and blamed SaskTel for it). A referral to sites like this one (at a "Do at Your Own Risk kind of warning) would have been helpful though. (**To this date, I haven't been able to find out how far away I am from the CO, the hub. When I call they don't know what I'm talking about.)
Lastly, having their installer come in and run a speed test by checking the download speed to their local site (something I gather most companies do)... I still find that practice rather deceptive since, obviously, the speed which their lines get to their CO is bound to be faster than the average internet traffic speed on any day at any given time of day.. I mean how many of us go to SaskTel's test page in a day.....(Frankly, if I had known that's how the guy was going to test the speed I would have saved myself $45 and passed on it.) It just seems a bit deceptive to advertise a great UL/DL speed and then be told "well that's the speed that we get to our local site".... (Like I said, I do understand that depending on the site you're going to, how many "hops" to get there, the amount of traffic on the net at that time, how smoothly the packets move.. etc etc are factors.. I just think.. .man, shouldn't I see noticeable difference SOME time? Like 2am even?) (I guess there was such a huge difference going from 56k dialup to 1.5mb downloads that I expected to see an equal or greater noticeable difference with the 5mb DL 640 UP speeds.I guess my expectations were unrealistic based on what I believed I would get from their ads.)
Oh well, you live you learn.

Down 1500 Up 128 on basic high speed package. Uses dynamic ip's.Speed Stream and Westel modems. No USB connections to the modem. They have a self install package that is fairly easy to understand. If you get high speed lite you get 128 up and down. Pings are disabled. They say it is because people wern't protecting themselves against the blaster worm and they won't re-enable it. Arranged to set up interent 2 months before and then got self install and they didnt' tell the installer that I picked that up. It costs $5-10 more than Cable and Cable is 1meg both ways. Had problems with service and they said there was nothing wrong on their end and they would send someone to the connections to check and as soon as they did it worked but they still claimed it wasn't their fault.
