I have been with Datasync for over 5 years now and am generally pleased with this company. Originally my DSL hookup was greatly disappointing. I was never able to achieve speeds greater than 750 down and 200 up. When contacting Datasync through their corporate offices (I-55) I was told that test showed the problem was with BellSouth. BellSouth comes out puts their tester on the line and says there is no problem. We do this for a couple of years believe it or not. Then just for the heck of it, after hurrican Katrina which appeared to change a lot of things, I tried again. BellSouth comes out again and says there is no problem. Datasync tech guys got really upset and I think somebody explained to the BellSouth techs they really shouldn't play with electricity unless they know how to use it. BellSouth comes out again and lo' and behold, with evil looks at me and a tech who seemed to know what he was doing a problem was discovered. Now I hum at better that 1.0 mb down and better than 250 up. Not the speediest but my hat is off to those guys at Datasync who refused to pass the buck.

The service indicates 1.42mbps down and 256kbps up, I've done a couple of tests, ofcourse the first one was without any tweaks on the machine, a horrored 128kbps up 200 kbps down, after running a tweak test and getting things changed it instantly reported 1048kbps down 210kbps up. I was happy with that, I managed to do 2 more tests but everyone on dslreports must of been using it because I've had the most difficult time catching it when it wasn't busy. I was kinda hoping for something in the 1100kbps down area and 230kbps up, I'm only 6000 feet from the CO... I picked the multi-host account which is $60 a month because well I dunno, I could of got the singlehost and bought my own router but didn't want to wair till I got paid, they just gave it to me and will bill me later. The order and install process was pretty good, filled out the single application for provisioning, and within 11 days I was using it so this was very pleasing to me. Equipment is some of the best, Alcatel Speed Touch Home ethernet, and a linksys BFR41 router/hub, Datasync only provides static ip so for those who want to run some dedicated servers don't have to worry about it changing. So far no bad experinces, I got the equipment home, tested the modem for sync, got sync, hooked it to my nic, configured the network settings and was on surfing.. then disconnected, hooking the modem to the wan port on the router, and port 1 to my nic, configured the router for the lan and the external addressing and within 5 minutes I was up and running through the router. After a couple of days I started having serious speed problems and multiple re-syncing of the modem, then at one point it would clear up for a week but I'd have to reset my modem because even though it didn't loose sync no traffic would go through it. After several things tried it turned out to be very poor inside wiring at the house and once we solved that the connection has been very stable. Had it now since March and so far no serious problems except for one outage back in june which lasted a few hours, I believe that was a storm which knocked out the service.

For about a year, I had BellSouth DSL. After unsatisfaction with connections, PPPoE, and tech support, I decided to look elsewhere. The only other DSL ISP in the area was regional ISP Datasync. They offered the service for the same price as BellSouth ($50/mo.) for 1.472Mbits/s down/256Kbits/s up, yet offered static IP addressing. This, in and of itself, was not of critical importance to me, but I figured that it would increase connection stability as compared to PPPoE. I was right.
Setup was $200, minus $50 for using own equipment (I already had an Alcatel SpeedTouch Home, the same modem they provide), and minus another $50 for signing a 12-month contract. That brought the setup fee down to $100. I ordered the service on a Friday at about 4PM. The following Tuesday, I had sync, and the next day, I called Datasync and received my IP, gateway IP, etc. I hooked the modem up to my P166 running Coyote Linux, fed it the IP and gateway, and haven't lost my connection in over 2 weeks. Nothing short of incredible as compared to my previous connection, on which I incurred disconnections as often as 3 times a day.
I can't comment on the technical support, as I've not yet had reason to call them.
I haven't had any issue with the DNS servers, but I can't comment on mail and news, as I use my company's servers.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with Datasync. It has definitely bridged the gap between what I used to have and what broadband should be.
