I am a retired cryptologist. I've been into this kind of stuff since the teletype. EASYSTREET is now a prospering corporation catering to larger audiences, and I thank them for letting me have my account back after...well...I COULDN'T PAY THE BILL ;-}}}}}}}. The techs are STILL SUPERB. Banker's hours on residential...it is totally cool of them even to provide it!!! Yes, things got screwed up with QWest (can't pay their bill either...geez, is there a depression or recession going on? Surely for me.)
To come to the point, I threw my dell in a dumpster and got a penryl iMac and after 6 months of psychosis returned to easystreet. This is my recipe for tech-sanity. Yes I ordered 7mbps from QWest and Easystreet had me down for 5mbps. But techs got is right and I'm getting a solid 5mbps download from Easystreet proper. DSLreports can only test the crowded backbones, so my speed tests are not 5mbps to XEROX PARC or almost anywhere. Now for the "things" I could and will mention per dslreports suggestions:
OPTIONS: thought NetZero was cool, but if you dare read my review of them. SPEED: i'm getting 5mbps to easystreet over distributed fiber, they have a bandwidth meter at their site that isn't lying. I pay for 7mbps. But then, I grew up on a 10 character per second teletype. Yes I'm an old fart!!! Ergo, I CAN'T BE TRUSTED 'cuz... ARGUING ABOUT THIS IS DUMB, GRANNY'S CORVETTE IS FAST AND SAYING YOU'RE PAYING FOR 7MBPS AND GETTING ONLY 5 is like saying, well, your car COULD GO FASTER...why don't you drop some premium gas in it and ruin it. I mean, dude, this is VIDEO bandwidth and then some!!! And at the price of regular gasoline, not premium. 5th ammendment on cost. Send 'em the check. or nothing. Yes, the billing lady got pissed off when I refused to be a corporate customer, but... GRANNY prefers his CORVETTE DSL. Kids, take if from an old fart and ask your teacher what a NAVY Corvette was...some sort of fancy boat I guess ;-}}}}}}} AS for "the grid" and wireless, they can LEAVE ME ALONE. I'm a ham. So's the CEO of easystreet. Finally, "cryptologists don't read each others mail nor do they do wireless."
Heck wit the rest of the suggested questions/responses, Penryl iMAC + Easystreet is what I've got, I friggin LOVE it, so if you don't like me leave me alone.

I have had Easystreet's DSL service (968/800, 8 IPs) as long as it's been offered -- I was one of the earliest customers. I had some Qwest-related DSL problems at another location in the early years ('99-'00), but haven't had any trouble in the last 2 years. I always get 95% or better of the advertised speed, and on the few occasions I've had to call tech support, I've had a generally good time.
My only complaint with them has ever been the one time during the Code Red scare, while installing a new server, that server became infected during hte installation process and before I could download the patch from MS -- Easystreet's techs cut me off at the router without telling me! Several minutes of scratching my head over that one. And I wish I could get them to set the reverse lookup on my IP addresses to my domain and not their silly internal addresses.
But generally I think they are very good, especially in comparison to what some of my friends have reported with Paciifer and others.

Easystreet has recently stopped serving residential customers. Glad to be a legacy rate payer for many years. Sad that I cannot recommend them to other residential customers. All that being said, the SO/HO package is still a great price at $47.45 per month currently broken down to Easystreet @ $24.95 and Qwest @ $22.50 as of 10 Aug 2007.
My current bandwidth is >1.0 Mbps and that's plenty for me. The Cisco 678 that was originally supplied through Qwest has worked flawlessly for years. It is bridged to my Linksys WRT54G via fixed IP address which is standard. If/when I need it, Customer Support is available 24/7 by phone. I recommend »www.Easystreet.com as top drawer

Well I used to be a qwest.net customer and was satisfied but when they tried to switch me to msn.com I cringed. Anyways the customer support was great. When I called easystreet to find out more about their service the lady on the phone was very nice and helpful. She answer my questions and gave me several montly plans to choose from. I ended up getting the same 640k down 256k up I had with qwest for the same price. The nice thing is that it comes with a static IP which I would have had to pay extra for at qwest. The only draw back was that it comes with only one email address. Additional ones are $5 each. I still don't understand why these cost so much.
The time between cancelling the qwest account and a activating easystreet connection was 8 days. This included 1 and 1/2 days of no service. Most of the delay was due to qwest. But I will say that easystreet was unable to finish my account for a day becuase they were upgrading something. All in all the install was easy I did have some trouble configuring the modem but some tech support got it running great.
So far I am very happy with the service. With qwest I had to reset my Cisco 678 often. Three weeks into my service with easy street the reset I have done was when I installed my router. I have yet to lose service. The speed has average about the same as with qwest. About 560k down.
A couple other notes: The tech support is great! The phone rings a couple times, you choose DSL support and someone answers. Almost no waiting, lot of times the same person answers! I have left messages with the escalated support and they have always been returned. Plus you can pay with electronic funds transfer to avoid signing a year long contract, and you can choose the date they charge you. I like these custom customer possibilities

Qwest had the DSL line 640/256 up and running on the date promised; but they built the circuit to their own Qwest.net instead of my choice - Easystreet. Price is $29 for ISP with static IP / $55 for DSL line. Very easy to install Cisco 678. Took Qwest 8 days to redirect the circuit. Easystreet support has been very reachable and supportive with the Qwest problem. Since I provisioned the line instead of through the ISP, I had to ride Qwest to get it fixed. Qwest tier 2 support has been helpful, but they couldn't do the change ISP order. Easystreet appears to be a good ISP......Recommend them!

I have had ADSL via Easystreet for about a year. I originally inquired with GTE to get the service and selected Easystreet as they have 24 hour customer service and seemed to over a product base, therefore suggesting they are a little bit larger and more stable ISP. After spending a few days waiting for my self install kit and having a conference call with both Easystreet and Gte I was able to get my service up. I have 768 x 128 and have had very few outages. For the most part I get what I should expect as far as bandwidth is concerned and everytime I have needed to call tech support for an issue I have found out that it has been Verizon issues.

The EasyStreet staff was very helpful in working with Verizon (GTE) to get the DSL Line established, they corresponded with the telco directly to give them the information they needed and had my account set up within a day (a lot more than I can say about GTE which took over a month and still had several intermittent connectivity problems).
I have called their technical support group three times due to connectivity loss and was helped each time (at no time was this the fault of the ISP - but rather it was due to problems with GTE).
With a year contract by ISP costs came to about $19/month (and $32.50/Month for the DSL line goes to GTE/Verizon)
Overall I have been very happy with EasyStreet. Perhaps my only criticism is the fact that the basic residential account prevents me from accessing my system while I am away from home. I would have to pay a higher monthly fee to upgrade my account to get that ability -- so far this limitation hasn't been painful enough to get me to shell out the extra $$).

I ordered 256/256 service with Qwest as my telco. I got in a little early in the game, and it was later that they offered the free modem deal. So I ended up paying $300 for the Cisco 675, aaargh! I self installed, which was really no problem. Service was started a couple days before the promised date. My speed was always way more than the 256k I ordered . Later, qwest gave everyone 640\256 service for the same price. My actual tested speed runs between 80 and 85% of my rated speed, so I'm happy with the connection.
Outages have been almost non-existant. My latency is a little high, but my telco line is pretty crappy old stuff. I have a static ip, and have no restrictions about running a server. If cable ever becomes available in my area, I probably will give it a try because of the superior download speed. Of course I won't have the option of running a server.
Tech support has been very good. I have recieved good service both over the phone and by e-mail. All and all a good experience.:)

When I first got Easystreet almost 2 years ago, they were really the only ISP here offering DSL besides US West. So I went with them, service was instaled and working withint the week. For the first 18 months or so I only called tech support once and thats because one of my IP's was malfunctioning and was not working. That got straightened out after a week or so and service stayed steady. Then I wanted to upgrade my account to a Business line. So I got the Corporate DSL. Then got an email with my 14 new IP's and how to use them.. something funny there, the requirements to use those IP's was that I would need a 700 dollar router. That was something they didnt mention to me, so I cancled the corporate account a day later and went back to my enthusiast account. Then the next month I got a bill for almost 300 dollars!!! I called, they said they got it fixed and supposedly they credited me for the mistake. No credit ever came, so I just dropped the subject. Then the next month, what? a 150 dollar bill?!?! I called at least 5 times leaving messages before they finaly called me back, they say the fixed it, again, but they didnt offer credit. All was good. Then a downtime came that lasted a few days. No reason as to why it happened, they blame the telco but on my Easystreet dialup service, I couldnt get out onto the net wither, even though it dialed just fine. Clearly Easystreets fault yet they deny it.
And for the next 2 months 150 dollar bills came, I called numerous time to get it fixed, no replies. Then, they e-mail me with a threat about me port scanning my network. I rgulary run port scans on about 500 IP's. Those IP's are ones that I own on other networks. I run portscans every other week on those IP's to make sure no weird services are running (no trojans and such). But, I decided that after 2 years of scanning, and never detected a trojan, that things were fine, so I agreed, and halted my port scanning (even though port scanning is NOT outlined in thier TOS as wrong).
And here I am, month 4 of the 150 dollar bills, while they should only be 80 dollar bills. And no reply from them, no nothing. Service has actualy gotten a little bad too, my ping times are going up, and download speeds are going down. After several tech calls they say it must be "my computers fault", even though my frien who also has Easystreet has noticed ping increases too.
For the last month Ive been looking for a new ISP to get out of this shitty arrangement I have wiht Easystreet.
For a while, Easystreet was fast, reliable, and fairly inexpensive, but since they wont let me use a regular individual account, I have to pay 80 for a SOHO even though I offered to take down my server as long as I could have the individual account.
Easystreet has got to be one of the worst ISP's I have had to deal with, MSN is actualy better in the support department.
If your looking for ISP's, stay away from this one unless you are HEAVILY business oriented and plan on doing co-location there.
