I have only posted an isp review here once and it was pretty short. usually i just come here to view the horror stories and laugh at the comments people make when they are po'd. anyway..

I was a flashcom customer when i was notified they went bankrupt(many of you know of this). Covad(i new ISP i think, but a long time dsl provider) also emailed me about a 'saftety net migration' where they would transfer my dsl from flashcom to their covad isp. So begining of march/end of feb i registered with covad and their 'migration' service. it took 1 day for them to migrate me from flashcom to covad and so i was basically connected with covad a day after i registered to be 'migrated'.

After i was connected the first thing i did was check my speeds with their Covad PPPoE(yes PPPoE, a change from flashcom, but i am used to it) Software. I got decent speeds in the high 300's, i was not angry even though their plan is 608/128, i was getting c. 50 kilo bytes a second which, again, was about high 300's or 400+. it was just fine for me though, no complains.

Then the next day i was feeling slow(DSL WISE). So i checked my speeds at dsl reports...250 kilobits per second!?!?!?? i checked again..roughly same speed, again, same. then i tested downloading netscape from their fast ftp. SAME!

I called covad and there was NO hold time, i complained about the speed and they said they would put in a ticket and try to get it fixed. the next couple days i got the same speed, i was ticked now. then i checked my speed a couple days more later. 384 from dsl reports!!! checked a download from netscape's ftp...51k/s!! i am so satisfied now it has not gone down since(although it most likely will, heh). I changed my software from covad's to WinPoeT and i get more steady speed with this. For a new ISP Covad does great and their tech support is ace.
