Pretty good deal bundled with Home phone and Internet. I don't do a lot of downloading, so the "Lite" package meets my needs. No problem with the caps either. member for 20.2 years, 2464 visits, last login: 10.8 years ago lodged 15.5 years ago
Extreme Plus package, spec is 18mbps down 1.25mbps up. Connection does 14mbps at best, and during most hours of the day does less than 9mbps. So you might as well go with their 10mbps package. Plus they are charging 25$ for extra usage, so its all crap anyway member for 19.9 years, 46 visits, last login: 15.5 years ago updated 15.5 years ago
Just signed up For Rogers home phone the Basic services cost me the same as my old aliant home phone But becuase all of NB is local I am saving 23.00 a month on long distance as i almost never call out side of NB. The Voice quiltiy is far better than aliants and I only have to dial 7 digits for anywhere in the province. 1 small issue is that visual call waiting is no working but they believe that it is a compatability issue with my dual handset cordless phone and they are working on fixxing that. All and All a good deal and a great service. ***Update*** With what appears to be an upgrade to 100gig cap The services goes back up to A++ in my books, Im not happy with the cap but it will let me go back to using the services like i used to as 100gigs was what i normaly used. *****update***** With the additon of the new caps I have been a little more than unhappy. tech support has been rude to me when I tryed to explian that I use more then the cap on a regular basis. my ratings will stay all the way down until i get some info on making something avaliable to heavy users like my self. *****update***** Another few months have gone by and I am still happy with my extreme connection and I have had very little down time and speeds have been rock solid. *****update***** As i promised it has been a month and everything is still 100% with my rogers connection, I am going to go over to there Voip services as soon as it is avalable. *****update***** Well i Finaly bit the bullet and orderd Extreme and I can say im Ertremely happy. The speed is consistant and i have not got less than 4.5megs for the point i signd up. all is going well i will up date againg after i have had it more than a month. ****Update***** Another year about to pass and I still have nothing bad to say about Rogers serivces, As a matter of fact I just signed up for the Long Distance package They offer to bundled customers. Well if all keeps going well when they start doing Voip ill be signing up for that as well. ________________________________________________________________________ I signed on for Rogers 2 years ago and it has been going strong the hole time. I have only ever been down once it was solved by tech suport quickly and I was on my way. Non-the-less the install went well the installer got everything hooked and worked. I orderd the high speed express 3.0 meg connection and I have always recived that speed. The first modem I was given wa s the ericson pipeline and it worked well, about 3 months ago I got a letter that i could upgrade my modem to a motorola SB5100 and this has also been working well without any problems. Lastly DSL was an option for me but I had a friend in the building that had DSL and he was getting about 1.0 meg connection out of it soI said why not I'll give cable a try no contract so if i didnt like it I could pick up DSL. But becuse my speeds are always faster than his i keept my cable. Also my friend on DSL switched and To cable and he is much happier now. But like anything give it a try if it doesnt work for you try the other guys. ___________________________Update________________________________________ Tried Aliant high speed (Bell DSL reseller) in short didnt work out for me did a short review glad I didnt cancle my Rogers high speed. member for 19.4 years, 638 visits, last login: 14.4 years ago updated 15.6 years ago
Tech rep didn't show up on the appointed day. Got the cable internet connected 3 days later. They promised a $30 credit for the missed appointment. I had ordered their "Express" (7000kbps). I got their "Lite" (1000kbps) instead. Their customer service confirmed that my account specifies Express. Their tech support said "your contract hasn't been updated". When I asked "why did I get Lite in the first place?", the reply was "I don't know". Tech support "updated" my contract within minutes, and now I'm consistently getting approx. 6800kbps/270kbps, across the continent. I wonder how many internet users actually check their download speeds to see that they're getting what they pay for. I wonder if Rogers gave me 1mbps instead of 7mbps on purpose, thinking that I wouldn't know the difference. member for 15.6 years, 2 visits, last login: 12.8 years ago updated 15.6 years ago
UPDATE: Someone asked me for an update since the original was written over a year ago. After a few months of the $100 service I switched back to Extreme. Most sites I dont get more than 7Mbps and newshosting I now get 10. NOT worth double the price for plus - the impression was that the speed would be that high on all sites - not so, it depends on where you connect to but most of the time it was no faster than extreme. I am NOT happy with them finally implementing the bandwidth caps and tested it out - I would have been charged an extra $25. A better system would be no monthly fee and just pay for what you use. ALSO, there is no easy way to check your usage, it doesn't show up on your home page you have to log on to rogers.com, and go through several links to get to view internet useage. The pop up warning in your browser once you go over X GB is also an annoyance and they are modifying the look and feel of the original web page by doing this. I've heard GOOGLE is going to sue them as the warning pushes the google bage down by about 1/3 of the screen so it doesnt fit right. I have updated my review scores as well. regards - Bruce I switched up to Rogers hi-speed extreme plus from hi-speed extreme and the switch was done while I was still on the phone with Rogers. At the time the max I could get was 13Mbps but after playing around I have managed to get up to 15.5 Mbps off newshosting (news servers) and some of the speed tests on here. This up from my previous 5.3Mbps. So $56 for 5.3 or $100 for 15.5 ? Works out to a cost of 10.6 per unit on hi-speed or 6.5 on high speed plus. So the bandwidth is cheaper, however the 90GB/month cap could be a drawback for those that exceed it regularly. Extreme had a 100GB/month cap but I have never seen that enforced unless you regularly exceed it. Over 90GB costs $1.25 per GB, to a max of $200 a month. As for the cap, they include both up and down traffic in their calculations. member for 21.6 years, 367 visits, last login: 14.1 years ago updated 15.6 years ago
What other options did you consider for broadband super high speed. What SPEED/package did you order, at what monthly price? ultra How was the order & install process? fairly quick What brand/model was the supplied equipment? docsis 2.0 motorola What good or bad experiences most struck you? blocks vpn...has some dns redirect thing. member for 15.9 years, 33 visits, last login: 12.4 years ago lodged 15.6 years ago
I have been with Rogers hi speed express for almost one year. The ordering and installation went very smoothly, and I have had no issues about service during that time. Although the service I am paying for is for 3 mps down, I have been consistently getting 6500 kps down and 600 upload. This is more than I actually need (not complaining), and the 60 GB cap is no issue for me. So mark me down as a happy camper! member for 15.6 years, 1 visits, last login: 15.6 years ago lodged 15.6 years ago
In January 2008 I switched all of my Bell services over to Rogers (Home phone, Internet and TV services). All services have worked very well and even though there was a minor billing error on my first bill (about $20), it was fixed right away with a 10 minute call into Customer Service (and it actually was fixed on that first call). I have everything bundled together with my cell phone plan for added discounts. I suppose there might be slightly less expensive options, and some giving more bandwidth included, but for my needs, this is a very good service for a competitive price. member for 22.1 years, 6153 visits, last login: 8.2 years ago lodged 15.6 years ago
i have just gotten Rogers Hi-Speed and wow its fast no matter what time of day it is i constantly get 2.2 - 2.8 d/l and 320-360 u/l i pat only $44 a month its totally worth and it advertises 3.0/384 i had Bell b4 and the tech support is HORRILBE plus i had very slow speeds i switched to Rogers and i am very Happy Customer very friendly tech support and technisions __________________________________________________ UPDATE: 09/03/04 I've had Rogers for 3 months now and everything is still good hope it stays this way..speeds have been getting better!!!! 2.7-2.8/350-400 u/l passed u/l cap sometimes i love it it hasn't gone down at all since I've had it and haven't need to use Tech Support either __________________________________________________ UPDATE: 11/17/04 Had some problems with my ping times (150ms+) but it seems to be fixed a little and online gaming is not lagging as much any more, other then that everything has been ok..and I hope it stays like this!! UPDATE 1/28/07 We'll it’s been some times since I've last updated my review, but besides getting changed from a 70 IP (which was almost max speeds of 5) to a 74 IP which now I’m getting a little less or what I used to be getting, not a huge issue but wish Rogers didn't somehow change my IP. Other then the fact that my IP has changed and speeds is .5-7 slower then what it used to be, everything has been stable and good. Ping times have been great as well 20-70 in online games and aside from the price increases, everything has been good so far and I hope it stays this way. UPDATE 09/01/07 Been a few months now, and Speeds are up o 7 mpbs and 512 up. price went up a bit as well, as usual thats rogers for you. Internet is still reliable, and fast getting real world speeds of 6.0-6.5 which is pretty good, i was getting better but what can ya do. Torrents are throttled which I hate since I do use that alot. It's ridiculous how rogers throttles this stuff, and gets away with it. Caps are also in effect as well, which i think sucks, if I could go back to Bell I would, but speeds with them are not good since I'm too far from the CO. All in all everything is good, and hope it continues. UPDATE 12/11/07 The throttling that Rogers does sucks, and they should be throttling what I do. Also getting a new IP of 99. Which gives me slower speeds then what i should be getting I dunno whats going on with this new IP but my speeds have suffered form it. Other then those 2 complaints everything else is fine, although I wish I had my old IP back as my speed. As of now my speed is cut almost in half of the advertized 7 that I used to get. I cant go back to bell since they suck and I'm to far from CO so this is all i got. All in all service is still reliable. UPDATE 08/01/08 Service has been solid this whole time with rogers, so cant really complain about that but Left Rogers due to throttling and having a 60GB cap as we'll as paying $44+tax every month, Went to cheaper solution, with a bigger cap, and better customer service. member for 20.7 years, 2707 visits, last login: 5.4 years ago updated 15.6 years ago
