I've been on the net for 15 years. Used to have to call sprint about once a month (in 95) to mention to them that the backbone of the net was down. We have a net with fixed IP's which are translated to the outside. Every ISP I have ever used has had horrible problems supporting this and they would always insist that the problems were ours. I used to have turn off their router, to prove to them that whatever they were pinging, it wasn't us.

Transedge is the first ISP Who said "oh, the way its set up now won't work correctly. Here are the ways we can set it up, and here are the pro and cons of each way". Then, they took 1min, 23 seconds and set it up!!!!!!!!!

NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY OTHER ISP! Most of them didn't have a clue.

and when we could cobble something with them, someone else would come back a few months later and "fix" it so we got to start over again.

    Competence is soooo rare

Our installation date was changed because their installer didn't get the equipment in time. The second installation date, installer called for instructions. They were instructed to install the DSL circuit in our server room. We were not present during installation. When we arrived at site (after installation), installers had not installed the circuit in the server room. We called customer care and was told it would cost an additional $200 and we'd need to wait up to 3 days for completion. We chose to run the cable ourselves. Had some problems with DNS so had tech support change router to use our DNS instead. Poor performance from customer care but exceptional performance from tech support. Hold times each time we called were about 10 to 15 minutes long.

Using TransEdge SDSL has been a great improvement over the wireless T-1 Internet connection that we has previously. TransEdge has eliminated our old worries of downtime, inconsistent speeds and lack of security. We use our DSL connection all the time in maintaining our hosting services and in developing networking business solutions. Our 1.1Mbps SDSL connection has never been down for a second and our upload and download speeds are great.

TransEdge (the direct sales division of New Edge Networks) worked through several local telco problems quickly well providing me detail along the way. Two of their techs even stood in the rain for hours checking wiring. The price for our service has been a value to us. Tech support has been quick to respond to any questions we have had and has checked back with us to make sure we were happy.

Even with the delays caused by our local telephone company I found the process to be easy for setup and I am very happy with the service!

New Edge Networks has provided us with great service. No longer are we disconnected during large downloads. No longer do we have to tie-up a computer for an extended period while we wait for 1.2MBs to upload. We are able to provide our customers and contacts with instant data. Our DSL service has enabled us to provide the type of service we like to receive prompt, accurate, and professional.

The company I went through was Syix.com. I would have posted the review for them but they are not on dslreports yet. Sales rep knew what he was talking about and answered all my questions. I have SDSL at 768k/768k with 5 ip's, 5 email's, news service and 10mb of webspace If I need it. And I only pay 79.95 a month. Cant beat that. I even got a free Intel Pocket digital camera. Right now I have my WinME system, windows2000 system and my linux box running and everything is running great. I have called tech support 3 times. The first time I got right through. the second time I got voicemail but I got a call back 10 minutes after I had called and the third time I was on hold for about 3 minutes. The service has been great and I highly recommend them.

    Rick

    Here's the deal:
I have had PacBell DSL for 2.5 years and it has been pretty good with the exception of having router problems in Stockton, CA. a month ago. I decided to order a second DSL service as a backup. Everyone knows how bad PacBell's email & news can be, but we have our own email, web and dns servers on site.

We ordered New Edge through NetStream. Free Install. I asked for 768k/384k and 5 static Ips. They gave us 768k/768k (actually tests 680k/680k from dslreports). For some reason it's a bit slow from other PacBell sites during the day, but I've only had the service for one day. They gave me 9 ips! Actually, since the subnet mask was 255.255.255.0, I checked other ips in the C block, they all work. (For now). So, I've got 5 static ips from PacBell and 9 (at least) from New Edge.

Installation was great, they called the day ahead to remind me, arrived at 8:00, and finished by 9:30.

They provided an Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5351 DSL Brigde with for ports.
NetStream (the ISP) told me that New Edge didn't share any PacBEll equipment except fot the copper. I thought this was dubious, but what choice did I have? New Edge does have their own DSLAMS and routers, but beyond that it's still Pacbell.

    So far, so good.
