We ordered MDM cablespeed service in early 2001. This was the only high speed service available in our area. We ordered the fastest service available at the time: 750/250 down/up. Service was installed when scheduled (less than a week later) and included running a new cable from the termination panel already on the house to the room where the computer was installed. Installation was flawless and ijncluded a static IP and Motorola SURFboard modem. (Monthly cost is $10 less if you have MDM cable TV service; we do not.)
We had intermittent connection drops after installation. After going around a few times with technical support, they sent someone out who determined the problem was the cable from the street to the house. Cablespeed installed new cable about two weeks later at no cost to us. Service has generally been solid. However, for the last several months we have numerous (3 to 5) short (Performance has been excellent, with download and upload speeds approximating and sometimes exceeding the contracted rate. Service staff has always been courteous, helpful, and generally returned calls quickly. The first-line phone people are never able to provide an ETA for service restoration. System status on their web page is never applicable to this area. Discussion groups on their web page have been closed.
Assuming their infrastructure rebuild solves connectivity problems, I'll stick with them. If it doesn't, and if DSL ever becomes available to us, I'll consider switching. Right now, the connectivity problems are a nuisance, not a crises.

ive had nothing but latency issues, spiking from 20 to 250 on internal network. Ive had techs come out they say they know they have network issues and do nothing about it. "We know we have network issues and line noise." ive been told this since ive been a customer, which is well over 2 and a half years now. Living in such a small town I dont have the ability to get another provider, so ive just been biting the bullet and trying to use this. This issue has arrived in the past but usually resolves itself after a week. Im not going on over 2 months with this, 6 calls to techsupport and 1 to CS. They came out on one of those total 7 calls and thats because the modem physically had died. Beyond that the techsupport by the cable techs themselves has SUCKED hardcore. On a sale of 1 to 10, 10 being worst and 1 being best I give Millenium Digital Media, MICHIGAN a score of 20. Would not recomment them to anyone!!!
P.S. included are these ping issues I have been experiencing. (209.153.128.4 = my dns server)

I opted for Millenium Digital Media (MDM) after learning from my new apt. complex that this was our cable provider. They have some sweet options available for service (including 3000/1000 w/static IP for $99) but I opted for 1500/256 for $45 with DHCP. Service was a breeze - I called, they sent me a self-install kit (I bought the modem separately and avoided the $5 rental fee) and when I hooked everything up, I was in business!
My download speed ranges between 2500/4000 down and 200/225 up. Not bad for cable! So far, so good - I'll let you know how it goes!
All in all, I am very satisfied and recommend MDM to anyone who has it available to them.

Cablespeed is technically much faster then our DSL service but everyone in my household agrees that it seems much slower. I would have stayed with the service but not it if is only in a room I don't want to use it in. We are switching to DirecTV DSL. I will let you know how it goes.
As much as it pains me to admit it Qwest was much better and the only reason that I switched to Cablespeed was a move. Qwest told me that it would take a minimum of two weeks after my voice service was installed at new site and removed from the old site before I could even place an order and then 15 days following that for an install. They also said I needed to purchase new equipment. All of this even though I was staying within the same central office and the new address had previously had DSL and was three blocks from the CO. Qwest DSL with my ISP oz.net was great for two years.
