$45 per month about 1 days "good service for the boonies. expanding company: 4G coming soon." "it's wireless... sometimes slow" "recommended over DSL if you're in rural AZ"

I've had the service for about a week. So far I like it a lot. Today was a cloudy rainy day and I seem to be experiencing a little slow down. I also moved my computer (closer to exterior wall though) and have full bars, but that could be a source of the issue. Will review again after a few months.

I've had commspeed since 2001, they have always been helpful and worked with any problems that I have called them about. Tech support have spent over half an hour on the phone before now trying to fix problems. But recently I call after 8pm and the tech support have "gone home". What good is that?
24/7 tech support and their pricing are the 2 main reasons I have stayed this long. No isp can give you service without some problems arising sometime, but when it happens it should be fixed asap.
I think cutting the hours for the tech support is a bad idea!
Overall I would recommend them to others.

"Easy install. Cheaper than DSL for advertised speed. No contract." "Mid-day network saturation, never hit advertised speed. Weather degrades performance." "Excellent alternative if the only other thing you can get is bottom-tier DSL."
| Pre Sales Information: Install process: Connection reliability: Tech Support: Services: Value for money:

At our place of business we only have two options, DSL or Commspeed, both at 1.5M/256k. Commspeed is actually a few dollars cheaper than the DSL would be after adding a static IP and the modem.
Install is a breeze, just plug in the modem and that's pretty much it. Another thing that's great is that there's no contract, so if cable ever becomes available, we can switch without getting penalized.
The speed is ok. During peak hours it'll usually drop down to about 1M, but at times during late afternoon or early morning we'll actually get faster than what we're paying for. I've seen our speed be almost 2M sometimes. Uploads don't seem to be as affected and remain at or above what we're paying for. Latency can get a little high at times, over 100ms when pinging servers ~100mi away. Weather also has an impact on quality, bringing the connection to a crawl during bad storms.
Overall, I'd say that we've had a pleasant experience with Commspeed, and I would recommend it to others in similar situations. Though if you can get anything faster, such as cable or a higher tier DSL, I'd definitely go with that instead.

about 7 days "Install, Flexability" "Block port 25" "worth it if you do not use own mail server"

Once the system was installed (too a long time to get someone out) we were hot! I had asked the installer about static IP and he said to call C/S. I called and they set me up with a "fake static" it is set up as DHCP with a no expiration lease.
I went rounds with management about opening port 25 for my mail server. Bottom Line was the did not feel safe with opening that port in thier firewall. Not sure why that is a problem for them as it would open MY public IP to the world on port 25...
Other then that... all is well.
6/11/07: Have not been down in a long time. I am having trouble with inbound 80 on my website now.

I really like this service, I have had the speed promised. I used to use another wireless service but the speed was unreliable, Commspeed has given me what I am paying for. Plus my VOIP actually works. My only complaint would be the installer who had the dish off by about a foot, I easily fixed it myself. Other than that I have had no problems. I gave tech support a 3 because I have never used them. I have the 1024/256k for 59.95 a month. I will never go back to my previous service. Thank You Commspeed for being here in the boonies.Plus as I have said I can also tell Qwest goodbye.

I have been on Commspeed for about 4 yrs and they have been quite good to me. I have been so happy to be off dialup as there was no high speed service before Commspeed came and its a delight to not deal with slow modems I haven't bothered to check my speed very often as I could tell it has been faster than dialups ever were. When I found my speed had dropped to modem speed I complained and got a tech to my house fixing it the very next morning. I call that good support and service in fact excellent.
It is after all the internet and you can only download or upload anything as fast as the modem on the other end so if at times thing have kinda seemed sluggish I have blamed the other end of my connection. I do not get dropped at all. I can't see blaming this isp for funky goings on out on the internet that might give us problems. I have been through 3 service providers and they all had problems of some sort and some had problems that weren't forgiveable and at least two had rude unhelpful support personel . They were the ones that grew so big they no longer felt a personal enterest in customers. Commspeed has grown and yet they still are nice to me. I wish them well.

Sure they have a few problems and bad people, but what isp, or business doesn't? Not many that's for sure, but overall it is a good isp and I would recommend it highly to those that need a fast connection.
