My Other Reviews

·Comcast
Moved...Took Aristotle right along with me to the new house. They now have a city wide wireless connection, kudo's. I can't use it [Out of range] but others can enjoy not only this service, but the dedicated response to issues.

Best customer support I have ever had on any product, been down three times since the original sign up in 2000, the first was a NewEdge problem, the second a DSLAM issue and the third a dead router. Never been down longer than a few hours, even with the aforementioned issues. I was also on Vonage, so it was mission critical to have stable bandwidth and service and I get it! My Daughter Home schools, so the value and worth for up time, speed and cost is relative to my expectations.[Update]

Time is counting down for service, NewEdge pulled the plug on Jacksonville and Cabot, not profitable enough and didn't bother informing anybody, the ISP networker to boot.

How an ISP should be?
I have been an Aristotle dial up customer, since they opened their doors and have had ALL other services in this area; aside from Satellite.

I'm on SDSL -Aristotle.

As a home user you will pay for SDSL, but consider this before you decide on your needs as a home user:

1) If you have more than one computer hooked, then that's a very good reason to have Aristotle SDSL.

2) If dedicated service & support is something that counts, then this is your only choice.

3) If you spend more than 90% of your time on the net, like most in fact do when
you fire up your system -This, again is your only choice. Most people who have a computer, use it for the NET; Be it for surfing or research/Kids at school. Most
people don't realize how much their computer is used,on line verse "anything else"!

4) This is Little Rocks #1 ISP provider and I know,I was also one of the first customers for SWB ADSL, B4 they sold it To AT&T and then to Yahoo. Also a
Comcast customer -Not bad for the price, but no real service and the neighborhood thing, gets old really fast with high latency.

Stretch out and enjoy your cities best ISP, because it does not get better than this. I do IT for a living and have never been happier with an internet service provider, actually any service I pay for; this I'm happy to pay for.

The service would have been connected earlier, but I had just moved and the line had not been provisioned.

[Edit] Price drop. Most ISP's increase, don't they? 12/10/2005. I know I have a good deal.

Update -Still can't find a better ISP provider, worked on many systems and networks using broadband and can't fault Aristotle one bit! It's now OCt 28th, 2007 and my opinion of Aristotle has not changed, excellent company and support.

Cheers

This is an update, SDSL Aristotle still lives, but I have to admit to an anxious feeling of when I might lose it, Cabot and Jacksonville bit the dust without warning last year. I have no opinion change and have had years of great service. Wireless is alive for those that can get it. June, 2008.

I have outlasted some employees of Aristotle, shame really. I miss that personal touch, but there is still one that's holding on.

Update 10/05/08

Aristotle is history for SDSL, though I had written this, apparently did not take. I'm fairly happy with the conversion to comcast, in terms of internet service. The downside is cost verse the alternatives; I don't watch much regular TV, I do watch a lot of movies. Can't have comcast internet without over priced basic TV service and the very annoying added fake charges. I'm on Comcast’s 'Special' for internet right now $20.00, add in basic TV (Required) the monthly bill is $103.24. I'm debating AT&T and doing without a TV subscription. I don't mind paying for internet, I DO mind the extraordinary TV cost; along with TV spam and worthless channel selections.

I got an Efficient 5851-012 SDSL Router, static IP addresses.
I've put up with SW Bell for three years, until they finally jacked up the price on me. I'm looking forward to the upstream bandwidth of SDSL.
