"They answer the phone"

I absolutly hate making a company complaint. But this has gotten to the point where I feel I need to give people a heads up. I really hate doing this since II have referred several people to this service as well. But no more referrals. In fact, I am looking for other options. Please note I have been with this company for about 1.5 years, so it is worth your time to read this post.

My service has been consistently slow. Aerosurf should know me by first name now I call so often. Every time I call, if I am lucky enough to get a tech on the phone, I am told to check for viruses and reset my router and to call back. I do, then they check and surprise they see my service is oddly slow. I can set music to this consistent scenario.

Then they tell me they will investigate and call me back, and they never do. Meanwhile the service speed goes up and down enough to make me hesitant to call again. I used to get great ping rates for online games. Those days are gone and my ping goes from a nice 85-100 to suddenly over 800 or 1000. It is never consistent, but flys all over the place which is actually worse than slow but steady. Game servers kick me off. One minute I can access Yahoo or Sportsline for Fantasy Football, the next I get page not found. I run my Fantasy Football league and can't log in while all other members can! I need to get a modem and a dial up ISP...that is sad!

I also work full time out of my home and the access can literally kill business for me. There have been countless times I have clients on the phone but can't access my web-based information.

If you are looking for high speed internet, I strongly encourage you look around thoroughly. I really can't afford to change my ISP since I will have to reprint letterhead and business cards, but I can no longer afford a service that isn't consistent.

For fun I checked my speed on here and one time I got a download of 900 and an upload of 75, the next 4 tries it couldn't complete the test at all..I let it run for 10 minutes per test attempt. This is just a neighborhood FYI for fellow internet junkies that need speed.

Update: I just tested my system 6x at 10 PM PST on Monday Night. My results were are follows (download / upload):

    335 / 5

    1022 / 32

    450 / 60

    377 / 17

    619 / 13

    367 / 60

I also had 4 tests that never completed and it took me 3 minutes of load time to open up this review page. When I wrote the first review page, I tried to save twice since I got posting errors. This is ridiculous. Each time I managed to complete a test, I was told the upload is very slow or to quote "Your upstream result was very slow! .. not good" These tests are all within minutes of each other.

I've used Aerosurf for over a year and they are, in terms of customer
service, the most ignorant company with which I have every dealt. I am
so interested in another option! Too bad they haven't had much
competition. The service is adequate but if you have a problem, you
better be prepared to make several calls. When you actually get to speak
with a knowledgeable person, don't expect to be treated like a customer.
I thought the customer was the one who paid the bills and kept companies
in business? If I ran my customer service like Aerosurf, I would be out
of business in 30 days. I don't think they'll ever change but I will.

Talk about being let down! I signed up for service with a local WISP Topline last year and was experiencing speeds of 1000/1000+ all the time and 2 months into service Aerosurf bought them out. I received a call one day and was told I had to have my antenna re-directed to their site and system re-configured the next day or I would be out of service. It was nice that they gave me so much warning that this was happening (NOT). Besides that I have never seen those speeds since. I have never been over 800/128 since and am typically in the 128/28K range. I had ISDN before Topline and it SMOKES this service. I met with the installer shortly after the change over and they could not find anything wrong but did change out my antenna. Since then it is like riding a Roller Coaster. Sometimes it is okay but most of the time it just plain SUCKS! I don't do any downloading just mostly EBAY'ing. I finally got frustrated and called them this week on Wednesday Morning to complain that my speeds are non-existant 28/0 and was told someone would probably get back to me by the afternoon. I am back to dail up and it seems fast to me (Not good) It is now Saturday Morning and still have not received a call back. That is really bad customer service to say the least. From what I understand (talking to others locally) they just keep loading down the T1's they have with no end in site. I asked how many users they have on a T1 and they would not give out that info. All I want it is service that is consistant and at a descent speed. I wish Topline were back.

UPDATE!!! May 1, 2003, Well, I finally dropped this Service and went with Blazen Wireless and it ROCKS!!! After months of dwindling speeds and several weekends without service I figured it was time to pull the plug! The final straw was the Thursday-Tuesday Easter Holiday weekend being completely down again. I called into Aerosurf and let them know I was down all weekend and was told by the girl on the phone that they knew that they were down (oh well). I informed her that my speeds were now slower then dial up (46 down/29 up) when it would test and was told someone would look into it. I asked that someone contact me about this continuing problem being that the last 4 times I have complained no one ever called me back. The girl on the call told me that she could not “make them call me back” so I knew I was not getting through. Of course no one ever called me back and I picked up the phone and called Blazen Wireless. Martin from Blazen Wireless came out and "HOOKED ME UP" and I am back to reliable service again like I had before Aerosurf took over from Topline. I can not believe Aerosurf claims they 4mb Down / 1 mb up? Who are they kidding. The claim there is no throttling yet they have NEVER been over 700k even when I first signed up. So I signed up with BLAZEN WIRELESS for the middle of the road package and test speeds several times a day. I have NEVER seen it dip below 650k and most of the time I get over 750k. Finally someone who knows what they are doing. If you are looking for service in the Temecula/Murrieta/Wildomar area, look up these guys! ALSO they do NOT limit how much you can download a month like the others I looked into.

"Higher start up fees than listed on DSLR"
"VERY happy with this ISP...Cable and DSL take a hike!"

Value for money:

I had Aerosurf installed on 9/6/02, and have been extremely pleased to this point. I paid a little more for the ethernet option as opposed to the USB modem, but my connection is more reliable. The connection speeds quoted on the DSL web site are 700/700. So far, nearly every speed test I've conducted using both Linkline and MegaPath show 1100+ both up and down, with a high of 1300+ both ways. During peak time, I have on occasion gotten 800 or so, but no complaints here.

The install was quick (1 hour), with 3 very friendly installers running the line from the antenna on my second story roof, through my garage and into the office. No software to load or hardware on my desk. I just plugged the ethernet line in, opened IE and off I went at what seemed to me the speed of light. After years of waiting for DSL and cable service, I am one happy customer!

I've only called tech support once for help configuring their email to Outlook Express, and they hooked me up in aboout 5 minutes. The staff and installers were terrific. My only complaint is that they need to update their info here on DSLR to include the $75.00 installation fee.

All in all, I finally have broadband that is fast, reliable, and an ISP who takes pride in providing excellent customer service. Oh, did I mention that my wife is happy to have the phone back?

Keep up the great work Aerosurf ! The people in the Temecula/Murrieta Valley Thank You!

Well, I've spent the last 3 years pining for cable or DSL. I moved in to Wildomar with the promise from the cable company(now AT&T Cable) that service would be installed "by the end of 1999" ... Sometime about June of 2000 they changed that to "soon." For 6 months, once a month, I called and they told me "wait 3 months then call back."

DSL was a joke. At just over 5 miles from the CO, it was completely out of the question.

    So I waited... and waited..

Well that wait is OVER. AeroSurf have just made me very happy. These guys are doing what all the tech sites are just talking about. Their equipment went in fast, and the installers were very professional. The speed is awesome, getting just under 1Mbit on transfers from all the big sites. Ping is 50ms to my favorite gaming servers. I'm in heaven!

A special shout out to (sorry I forgot your name man) the installer who went into my attic and came out covered head to toe in white insulation. All this for little old me.. the customer.

Their tech support people worked with me to get my Linux firewall working properly through the bridge, and away we went.

Oh and also, ZenMaster... hook me up with an invite to one of your LAN parties. I may be an old geezer at 24 years old, but I love CounterStrike and RTCW. I probably live right down the street from you man!

As I stated in my first post, Jason of Aerosurf is the man to contact if you want extremely fast and reliable high speed internet service. I am the IT Director/Engineer for a very large Property Management Company (Pan Pacific Retail Properties) that is based out of Vista Ca. I ordered the business version of their product which consisted of 3GB a month, LinkSys Router, small roof antenna, and a Cisco Bridge. I was concerned about the limit, but Aerosurf works with its business clients to adjust usage limits based on there needs (gamming, and large file sharing programs like LimeWire is what they are trying to curb with the limit). As of today I have had no problems with over usage and I currently have 2 DNS servers, 2 Web Servers, and 8 workstations currently online. As the IT Director/Engineer for our firm I am responsible for a total of 8 Branch office networks consisting of over 1,500 users. With the AeroSurf product, I am able to completely manage and monitor from my home via 8 separate VPN tunnels all eight of these networks. The speed that the AeroSurf network provides (never below 800kpbs), not only blows all 8 of my AT&T and Covad DSL connections (384kpbs) out of the water, but it is also 10 times more reliable than my DSL office connections that I pay twice as much for. Over the last month I've only had one instance where Aerosurf went down, and after contacting Tech Support at 10:00pm I was back up in 5 minutes. Try getting that kind of service from any Tier 1 provider. Anyway, Jason and the guys at Aerosurf are doing a hell of a job and I highly recommend this service to any one living in the Murrieta/Temecula area. Time from order to install is usually less than 3 days, and the install takes less than hour. Once the install is complete, you are up within minutes. As a business client with the static IP option you have full control of your equipment and can configure it anyway you please.

I have news for the AT&T Broadband and Verizon DSL sales teams. Your days of jacking our monthly fees for cable and phone service to supposedly support a non-existent infrastructure for high speed internet access to our neighborhood are about to dry up in our community. In the age of DirecTV and Aerosurf, it brings me great pleasure to inform your demographics team and the residences of my area, that we do have superior alternatives to products that you may or may 'NEVER provide. I would like to wrap this up by asking the AT&T Broadband demographics team what they were thinking when they provided internet access to Lake Ellsinore over 2 years ago and have yet to provide us with the same service? Just compare the average yearly income of Murrieta residence and Lake Ellsinore residence, and that alone should be enough to support my claim. As stated by a fellow Murrieta DSLReport member, 'AT&T and Verizon know where they can go , and the residences of Murrieta and Temecula now know that they can go to Aerosurf to get SUPERIOR high speed internet connection.

Residence of Murrieta/Temecula feel free to write me if you have any questions concerning Aerosurf. I can be reached at rick@pprp.com.

"Fast! Reliable! Stable! Easy! Cost-effective! Did I mention Fast?"

"Call these guys up and see if it makes sense for you."

I called on a Thursday and got an appointment for installation the next Monday. Three guys showed up, crawled up on the roof and through the attic, fished cable through the wall, and BAM! in about an hour it was on. I'm sharing the connection with 4 computers through ICS on a WinXP machine.

This is 802.11b technology, just like your wireless LAN except with an outdoor antenna. You point at a neighborhood pseudo-palm-tree or similar antenna structure, which relays your signal, etc., etc. I'm getting 800-1000 kbps at all hours of the day and evening. Very reliable so far. The people all seem to know what they are doing.

You can buy the equipment (Orinoco Gold USB-attached radio, and external antenna) for $200, or lease it for $20/month, if you wanna make sure they stay in business and continue to deliver as the customer base increases. The "residential" installation is to one computer, but you can share it with Internet Connection Sharing and a local LAN, even a wireless one. That service is 49.95 per month, and has a quota of 1Gb traffic for the month, which I'm finding will be somewhat low, even for moderate use. There are "business" packages available, with higher quotas, and with a connection directly to the LAN, rather than through a computer with ICS.

IP is dynamic, but static IPs are available. There are lots of possibilities here. I know a neighbor has a VPN to his workplace through Aerosurf. Hmm, wonder if I bring my own antenna to Starbucks if it will work there???

After a year of searching for some broadband in my area, I was ready to start my own Fixed Wireless ISP. While in the planning phase, I ran across two companies that recently started in the area. I decided to give them a try.

I left a message stating I was interested in ordering service Monday morning. I didn't get a call back until later that night (around 8PM or so), but they were very friendly. I was interested in their plan B, $69/month, no equipment to purchase. Technical features include USB client, DHCP, unlimited email account, and 1GB bandwidth/month. They said the could install me in 2 days. Being a network engineer myself, I asked if they could just install the external hardware and leave my computer to me. They were very accomidating of my request.

Wednesday came and sure enough they came and installed an antenna on my home, a USB cliet gateway inside and saying I got a great signal. Well, I went home to test and I couldn't get connected. Left a message for tech support and went to bed as it was already midnight.

The next morning I called again and they answered stating they were just expecting my call. They noticed I had not been authorized for their network the previous night and they had just enter me in not 5 minutes before my call. So, I tried my connection again and sure enough I was connected and flying.

For those interested, they do offer static IP's, more bandwidth per month, ethernet connections and they said they allow servers on their network.

Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and the service has been very good. So far the times it has been down have only required a reboot of my PC and I believe most of that is hardware related.

    No support at all

I have had the service for over two years. I had a fire and was out of the house for 7-8 months but still had to pay. Couldn't even put me on hold and extend my contract. Now I have issues and I can't get in touch with anyone. I email and call and leave messages (can't get a live person) and I get no response. I have decided to switch to another company because I have to reboot this service about every 15 minutes and can't get assistance to correct. I find there is basically NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT day or night.
