I am 8 miles from the Newark tower and have a ham radio tower up at around 80 feet, so I am real lucky. My signal strength is excellent and have a perfect LOS to both that tower and the ones in Yorkville and Bristol. Signal is: 50db for all.

Package: 10mbit down and 5mbit up.

Performance note: At night (when I use it the most), I can get over 10Mbit /s download and up to 5Mbit /s upload. During the day, the speeds are: 6mbit-10Mbit down and 3-5 Mbit up.

Price: $200.00 per month

Contract: 12 months

Service: Excellent. I was very surprised to see i was getting an excellent signal even when the tower was cranked down to 30 feet!!!

Frequencies: My primary backhaul is 5.2GHz and for the backup it is 900Mhz. For service, 5.7GHz. (I am now an access point for this area)

Equipment: Motorola/ Orthogon

Previous INET was: Starband Satellite, Nuf said right there.

I've had Airlogic's service for more than a year now & have been generally very satisfied with it. Especially considering there isn't much if anything else available in the Mundelein area. The cost may seem a bit high, but my company pays for it so I'm not overly concerned about that.

My main area of frustration has been with download speeds. DSLreports indicate that my upload speeds are much greater than my download speeds. I have a Linksys BESFX41 firewall /router. Without this router, my download speeds are about 1m. With the router, I'm about 300-500k - quite a bit less than where I should be. Their techs are recommending I switch to a Netgear router.

Has anyone experienced slowness as a result of using a Linksys router? If so, how was this corrected?

Thanks for reading.

For 3 months I had airlogic without any problems. My calculated bandwidth was at a steady 1.2 mb/s (to the internet, not to their local servers) . But since they recently moved my anntena to a diffrent base station, now I get 300 k/s. For $ 65 a month you are better off waiting for cable. If they don't fix this problem I will be getting comcast.

When I originally placed my order, I was told that they would have my service up in 2 weeks, however, much to my surprise, my service was up in 10 days (it would have been faster if I was wasn't out of town when they originally wanted to do the install).

Right now I am using their home package with the symmetric upgrade ($10 a month), and I am getting on average 1400kbs down and around 1300kbs up. I really like the fact that they give you a static ip and allow you to run VPN.

I have been up for a little over 2 weeks and the service has not gone down (unlike SBD). If you live in Mundelein or Vernon Hills, I strongly recommend you get Airlogic's service especially since you can (or at least I can not) get DSL or Cable Modem service.

Update: I canceled my service after having billing problems as well has really poor service from them! If you can go elsewhere go!!! Only use airlogic if you have no other options!

I have been an Airlogic customer now for about 6 months. I couldn't be happier! My choices for broadband here in Long Grove, IL were none and none. I tried getting every different type, including IDSL, ISDN and DSL. My development is too far from the CO for DSL yet and ISDN, well we all know what that is like... Along came a little report on DSL Reports about Airlogic. My prayers have been answered.

I recently had a situation where my connection was dropping and I was having to reboot the modem. I figured it was just because the connection was wireless or there was some interference with my interior wireless LAN. I mentioned this to the guys at Airlogic and they were out here the next day loading some new firmware on my modem. Since then, not a single problem!!!

Easy to use and reliable. Not to mention fast. I love this stuff.

I've had cable and DSL in multiple locations before, and this service definitely blows it away. The service has been stable, fast, and reliable, and the crew at Airlogic is outstanding.

Cable's speed was unreliable, and the DSL I used had some real issues with reliability and getting connected was a royal pain. The Airlogic crew scheduled a time that fit within my schedule, installed the very small dish (smaller than a satellite dish and it is a wire elipse, not a solid piece so it's nearly invisible on my roof), and they did a really solid, professional, clean wiring job in only about an hour or two. It was a rainy day and they even took their shoes off and on when they came in and out of my house so that they wouldn't make a mess.

I took their standard home VPN package plus the Symmetrix package so that I have 1500/1500. I have no problem getting that speed, even during peak hours. I have a static IP. I've had the service for about 4 months now and everything has gone very smooth. Even during the worst storms when my satellite TV goes out, my internet still works perfectly.

The best part about the service is the latency. I always hit their gateway in sub-20ms, and most of the time I can hit it in sub-12ms. I've never had anything NEAR that good with cable or DSL. Even at my company I can't hit our ISP's gateway that fast. If you are doing any gaming or multimedia, the connection is absolutely perfect.

If you are getting broadband service, DEFINITELY go with Airlogic. If you have cable or DSL right now, it is worth switching.

  • "very stable, easy setup, fast speeds"
  • "expensive setup costs ($295)"
  • "the best solution in my area"

After a lot of frustration with trying to get fast internet in Long Grove (very near Mundelein), I happened upon Airlogic and signed up for their 1500-512 wireless plan. The Airlogic guys were very helpful and straightforward about when the service would be installed, and they were very flexible with the installation date and time (and on time!). The antenna they installed is a small, flat, white square (roughly 6"x6"x.25"), mounted on a skinny post about 1.5' tall. The radio is mounted to the post as well, inside a weather-proof enclosure. They simply ran a cat-5 cable inside the house, and there is a tiny black power-over-cat5 connector that plugs in. Once they positioned the antenna for the best reception, and I reconfigured my wireless access point channel to not conflict with the Airlogic channel, everything worked great. The speeds have been great, the connection has been stable, and I like having a static IP.

It's amazing that neither the cable or telco companies can get their act together to provide fast internet in this area (we live in Long Grove at the north edge). Their loss though... I am very happy with Airlogic.
