$126 per month "Value for price, not much downtime, local, excellent tech reps" "Mediocre TV offering compared to others in NEPA, broadband speeds haven't hastened in a while" "The better of the terrestrial broadband duopoly for this area, avoid TV service though"

For a long time I was waiting for Verizon DSL to come to our area. I was on AOL dialup and it was starting to crawl in mid-2006 down to speeds around 14.4k. However Verizon still hadn't installed a DSL switch close to my house and they still haven't to this day. So I ordered Adams cable internet in August 2006. Their order process was straight forward and I was installed up to the cable network within 3 days from ordering. I was given an RCA modem and it has worked great. I haven't had tech support come since the first day, so my experience has been a good one so far.

Have the total home package (TV, Internet, phone) now for 3 months and speeds have exceeded as advertised. Advertised speeds are 5 Mbps down and 768 Kbps up. I am getting +6 Mbps down and +1 Mbps up with a Scientific Atlanta DPC2203 EMTA. So far all is well. Now if they would start working on improving their TV service that would be excellent.
4/5/10
Same package, actual broadband speeds come within those advertised, which are 5 Meg down, 1 Meg up. Disappointed with HD offerings though, most channels are over compressed (they use HITS Quantum) and Adams continues to shelter analog only customers with 67 analog channels. Their pricing is under control at least for a duopoly provider.
6/1/11
Same package -- broadband speeds have stayed put, still 5 Mbps down 1 Mbps up. TV service is still the same but cannot be trusted to work 100% even in good weather conditions. Not many risks taken by this business, would not recommend for the technically literate looking forward to emerging technologies. Solid broadband and phone, television infrastructure deteriorating though.

I am impressed from the time the order was taken to the time I began surfing the net at 2meg. Not only was everyone I spoke with willing to talk to me, but never did I feel pressured, or ignored. Being from the city, impressive isn't even the word that I would use to describe. Try comcast or adelphia, same service almost $20 more a month. I have nothing but great reviews for Adams. The installer was helpful, and knew a lot about the service, plus, there is no charge for modem rental what-so-ever, and the price is the best price for BROADBAND out there, hands down.

a month or so ago, the bagel virus was released and the RAV anti virus software that echoes was using was not catching it. they talked to RAV for 2 days trying to get resolution. no luck. result - after those 2 days, they dropped RAV and got X-BitDefender. problem solved. how's that for "no fooling around" service

about 1 days "Very reliable, No other local cable service compares." "There are no bad points. so far so good." "Best service in the area for the price. Can't beat it."

The service is 2MB @ 2000kb/sec download and 768kb/sec upload advertised. It seems to stay right in that range most of the time. The cost is $34.99 a month. Thats very respectable when you look at the prices of the other available services in the area. My particular speed is regularly above both of those numbers and thats after the bandwith is split on the router. I don't think you'll hear any complaints fromn me any time soon.

about 30 days "Good Reliability and throughput" "ONLY AN 8 GIG MONTHLY BANDWIDTH LIMIT!" "Good service if you don't do a lot of Video Conferencing or downloading movies, music, etc."

Good service, but I'm a little nervous about the 8 GIG bandwidth restriction. Videoconferencing with Windows/MSN Messanger eats it up.

$40 per month about 7 days "Reliable Connection. Went out once in 3 months for a short period." "Not as fast as I'd like. Limit on how much you can download." "If you really want something faster than Dialup, get it. Remember there is a limit on the download."

I am using the 512/128 plan. I always get the 512 rating, never slowes down. The install was 90 dollars total. I had to pay 29.95 for the install, 40 for the first month, plus a 15 dollar reactivation fee because I didn't have cable service at the time but did in the past. The install took about 2 hrs, which wasn't to bad. I am using a Linksys router with my Surboard 4100 modem. I have never had any problems with my setup. The only thing I don't like is the 8gb limit. I figured if I had broadband I would be able to download things I need. I downloaded a Linux Distribution and that took up alot of this limit. I really like the service but the limit is a real pain. Maybe in the future they would look to either get rid of the limit or at least raise it to something else.
