Pre Sales: I spoke to a very friendly lady on a Thursday night and was so pleased with the service I ordered Friday morning (after some thought).... I was very pleased with their service, mainly because I have a computer upstairs and downstairs and she told me the installers could run CAT5 cable to both computers as long as i provided my own hub or router (I verified this with THREE of their tech support reps to make sure this was accurate). BIG selling point......
Install Co-ordination: The following Tuesday the trucks rolled into my driveway. VERY nice and polite installers. However, they made me aware the on this trip they would only install the service on one computer because they had not recieved the rest of their equiptment yet to the wire install....and they told me to call in two weeks and make another appoint and wire it for us... no big problem.... I still have one fast computer.....
Connection: ALWAYS have speeds above advertised....
Tech support: Almost all of them make you feel like you worth their time.
Mail, DNS... : DNS has a small delay..... but not that bad.
Overall its a great service! I would reccomend WOW to anybody!
(Update 8/27/2004)
Their hold times are vastly improved from when I was calling them in 2002!

For the past two years i have been struggling trying to get DSL... no one could get it to me. Then wow came out and then I got them right away and its been great. Back when they only have 600/300 i had them and was meeting the ..... i forgot the word. But now with the 2meg/500kbps service i am still getting 1980-2022/510
this is the best ISP in naperville if you have or can get it, and have WOW cable tv.

Ordered Wide Open West's internet cable (along with digital cable TV) as a WOW Hotbox customer (non cable customers will pay more of course). I ordered the advanced service (1.5/500) for 35 dollars a month (at my time of writing installation and activation was free). Static IPs and extra emails are extra. I ordered the dynamic ips and one email address. Called them at their 866 number and they accurately said the techs will arrive between 8-12am on Friday. Tech came around 11am, installed a new line into my room, an ethernet card and a cable modem on my Dell 933 MHz machine and took only an hour.
Service went offline for about 30 minutes that same day. I called tech support, and they called me back the same day saying it was a server problem, which i found nice of them to do. I had to change my registry settings in Windows to optimize the cable modem (I highly recommend it). Now everything runs smoothly, although I'm not sure about how resolving my ip goes about (my ip won't resolve in IRC).
Generally I think this is a great service, and noticing my friends had trouble with their service for the last couple years, I'm glad I waited for WOW to come. I've done a couple of tests and they actually exceed their ratings for advanced service.
I'm definitely a happy camper.

After months of Comcast service (or lack of) and no other alternative but dial up, I was anxiously awaiting WOW's Service to come into my area. Even if they only gave me have of the 1500/300 bandwidth they advertised I would still be 3 to 4 times faster than Comcast. (Closer to 10 times faster between 6pm and 10pm).
Well they didn't dissappoint me! I called the first day it was available in the area and installation was 3 days later. On 3 occassions I've called them, only once did I wait on the phone for more than 2 rings. The speeds are consistently 2000/475 (regardless of time) which is well above what they advertise. Imagine that, a company that gives you what you pay for and actually a little more just to be safe. Some other ISPs should take a lesson from this.
Maybe when everyone switches over, the system will bog down but for now this what the internet should be. Actually, courteous service, professionalism and getting what you paid for is what all businesses should be.
Good Job WOW.
