Must be good to live in a medium-sized community. Had CableOne Internet for 3 years. Always good speed, periodically increased at no increase in price, currently 3 MB/s down consistently. Support from local techs & admin fast, courteous and effective. I pay for, expect and receive excellent service. And no, I don't work for CableOne, and have no friends or relatives who do.

Cable one came out within 3 hours of signing up for service and I was up and running. They also replaced the underground line going to my house which was in pretty bad shape. A great experience so far.

Well i just moved to Long beach Mississippi and we order the 3000/300 Tier on Thursday and the lady said once we picked up the modem from the office that it would be turned on. so Friday we picked up the modem. had to set up computer and such so didnt plug in modem till Saturday. so i plug everything in. nothing happened... so we went outside and found that cable one only had hooked up 2 Cable outlets outside to my house. so i had to unplug one outlet and plug the one in that is hooked up to my modem. so another words i gotta get a 3 way splitter to split all 3 Cable outlet. but once i plug it in. it went on line. and im gettin 2200/280 so far. its still pretty fast. and im so happy with Cable one so far. so if your thinking of trying them. Advice you to do SO! they are great.

UPDATE 10/20/04

I think they have finally fixed it. I've had nothing but great pings last 2 days and the download speed seems to be what is advertised and perhaps higher. Lets hope it stays like this

I used to have their 3000/300 service in another city and i was really happy with it. I moved to Boise Idaho and things have gone down hill. I first got the 3000/300 line but after experincing speeds of 600/300 i thought hell i should just save money and get the 1.5/200 line. Hardly ever do i ever even come close to the 1000/200 line. If you are a gamer such as myself forget it. I ping on average 120ms to the first hop! That is the router somewhere down the street and i am hitting 120ms to it! You may say "that is just during the peak hours" Hell its 11PM right now and i am averaging 100ms to the first hop when all the "real" isp's will get 10ms. I have called their tech support 5 times and they tell me that there is a repair ticket issued for this and they are working on fixing it. Hell they have been telling me that for 2 months. How long does it take to fix something like this? I used to be a big supporter of cable one, now i don't think i could even recommend it to my enemy.

I am tempted to go to cable ones office and tell them i want to cancel it even though i am on a contract. I signed a contract for a service, which i am obviously not getting, what is it to keep me in contract?

This is the ping i get to my first hop! Do i have 56k or is this cable? I am not sure help me out!

i oredered the internet cable bundle with the modem rental is 98.95 a month. thats 3mb internet and digital plus. when i go to speed test sites my connection is usually between 3.1 - 3.3mbps. witch is amazing. all in all i love my cable internet but the only problem i have is with their technitions. they dont have the slightest clue on what they are doing. I had a problem with my internet because they were changing out the server and no one knew what was wrong even though my town and the town next couldnt connect. the Pheniox home office didnt know what was up and niether did the local office that was working on the problem took 4 days for them to figuere it out and tell me why i wasnt getting internet...but besides that its a great deal.

I have had great service with Cableone! I used to live out in the country and had a awful problem with intermit connection problems, after 12 calls and 4 guys coming out, they found a bad connection on the poll! Since than I have moved into town and have had nothing but great service. I had a down time for about 12 hrs because of a bad splitter. All in all, great service, great speed.

I use 1500/200 and it is very fast. As soon as I signed the contract my hi speed was turned on. I use a Motorola SB5100 Surfboard modem, that I bought at Best Buy for $60. On pluggin I was running in hi speed. I didn't have to set up anything. The sign in page came up to the cable co. I set up a password and login and that was it. I have a built in ethernet card, running Win98se, and it was nothing like setting up my first dial up modem that had to be set up manually.

Cable One finally announced cable modem availability in my area. I was already a DSL customer (with earthlink0, but could not get past 720kb/s downstream at 12.8k feet from switching office at $52/mo. I stopped by the local office in the beginning of May, picked up the equipment and had everything hooked up to my DI-624 wireless router in a matter of minutes. I have been getting between 2.2Mb/s to 2.8Mb/s on this thing! Since I was already a cable customer of theirs, I got a bunch of additional digital channels and 2 cable boxes for $102/month after taxes/fees/whatnot. This was actually ~$10 cheaper than the combined cost of DSL and original cable I had. I also like the idea of no contracts, so I could cancel at any time (but I really don't see that happening anytime soon ). One thing I did notice is that if there is a power bump, the cable modem reconnects immediately without rebooting (compare to DSL!!!). I now have Vonage VoIP and the quality is excellent over the cable modem. My current setup is: cable coax --> cable modem (Motorola SurfBoard)--> router (D-Link DI-624 Rev. C2)--> computers (1 wired and 3 wireless) and VoIP box (wired, of course).
