I don't really understand all the bad press Cableone gets. I have used their internet service at three different addresses in the central Arizona area and have always gotten the speed I was promised, with almost zero interruptions and more than decent technical support when I needed it. But I do have networking experience so I can usually troubleshoot my own issues. I think a lot of the problems people here describe can be attributed to their own lack of technical experience and patience. In addition, highly active users - read, gamers - b*tch about their line speed no matter what they get. They need to build high speed networks in their homes to maximize the provided speed, or get a T-1 and stop complaining. Nobody promises eleven megabits.

"I've never had extended outages of service. The download speed is usually consistent with the package."

Currently on the 5mb/500kbs package at 60/month. I have been told that starting in October it will change to 8mb/???kbs at 63.5/month. Hopefully they increase the upload speed as well. The one HUGE problem I have is with the latency/ping times. They actually use to be fairly decent until about 3-4 months ago. When tracerouting a Chicago server, the packets will go to Denver, Dallas, and then back up to Chicago. Previous pings of around 45ms have gone to over 100ms. The frustrating part is when you call tech support and they fail to put you on the line with someone who knows what your talking about...they'll just tell you to power cycle your modem until your face turns blue. I know of a few other people who have called and gotten the same ordeal. I strongly encourage anyone in the Fargo, ND area with service to call and complain. The high latencies really put a damper on VoIP, video chat, virtual network connections, streaming media, and online gaming.

We've been CableONE customers for about 4 years now. When we lived in our Apt. the internet would go off for hours at a time, and the tech support was unable to figure out the problem. We would have a tech sent out to us but they could not find anything wrong. After formatting the computer and reinstalling everything, we were still unable to get a stable connection.

Now, that we have moved into a house in a different town, we have had some bad experiences with them again. Downtimes, high ping and now with the caps being set in, it's like throwing away money.

We are going to switch to Qwest DSL with their 7Mbps package to try them out.

This company should be a "last resort."

"dependable service"
"sometimes a little slow"
"better than ma bell"

In central Prescott, I had a choice of Qwest and Cable One. In fact, I had Qwest DSL for years but got so fed up with their (overall) service, I quit in disgust. Comparatively speaking, both DSL services are about the same. Cable seems a little faster... I am in a bad spot so cannot get wireless here.

I live in an area where CableOne has a monopoly. There are no other cable service providers in the area, so CableOne does not feel the need to improve at all. I have had issues with CableOne in the past, but recently it's been getting worse. I've been having outages on a DAILY BASIS. We do not pay $50 per month for internet service that's down about half the time.

When it works right, i love it. However, it's been lousy for the last month. It would get really slow, if it connected at all, during the early morning until around 6:00 PM. Then it would start working right again, fast as ever. I have spoken to the service dept. in Phoenix a number of times and since the last service call this morning it,s working great. I hope it lasts,( I'm getting tired of calling them). They did something outside and now it works. I have been using this service for 2 years and it's been great. I hope they keep things straightened out. By the way, the modem they supplied in a Motorola SB5101.

I ordered the entire package, which included Cable TV, 3.0 Mb Broadband Internet, and, VOIP telephone service, each for only $29.95 per month. The speed is always more than acceptable, the TV has not had an outage, even during severe weather, and the phone service is excellent!!!

When I called "Ma Bell" to cancel my old service, they tried to talk me into staying with them, but, I simply described the package, that CableOne was offering, and ask them, if they could beat it. The salesperson told me, that they couldn't even come close!!!

    I have NO complaints!!!

So, not wanting to go with DSL because of past experience of constant disconnections and my not being a huge fan of the phone company, I looked for the cable internet provider in my area. CableOne was it. I signed up, and set up an appointment for installation. The installer guy called me ahead of my scheduled time and asked if I wouldn't mind him arriving early (how often does one hear that request?!). He was here in no time and was a friendly and competent fellow. A short while later, my wiring was ready.

I went online to activate the service, and it was pretty easy. The only snag was that I had to call and get my MAC address set up, but that was a smooth call. After that, I had fully operational internet! Woo hoo!

Since then, the connection has been awesome. The line has gone out maybe twice in 6 months, and for a reasonably short amount of time (I think a small amount of outages are to be expected...only when it becomes a habit of sorts does it become a potential problem...no problem with these folks).

I signed up for Vonage for my phone service, and because of my confidence in my CableOne service, I have full confidence in an always-on phone line...and so far, so great!

Their promotional deal when I signed up was $29.99 per month for the first 6 months, with a 1.5 (1500) download and 200 upload speed...which, by the way, due to my constant speed testing using various different sites, has remained constant and true to what I have been paying for. At the end of 6 months, which was just a day or two ago, and as I was informed when I signed up (I am a big fan of such communication, by the way. A lot of people and companies stick to the minimum amount of information and leave one to flounder down the line), the rate goes up $10 to $39.99. The cool thing is that not only does the rate rise, but the service bumps up to the next level. So, now I have a 3.0 (3000) download, TWICE what I had a few days ago, and a 300 upload speed...for only $10 bucks more! Of course I have been testing the speed, a LOT, since it bumped up and so far, HOLY COW, it's fast! Right on target with the speed! Freakin' awesome!

Needless to say, I love my CableOne service! It rocks! I would hug it if I could.

    @cableone.net

    are they really all that?

You must not do much downloading or uploading or you would not be so satisfied. if you mostly web surf, then yes you can expect a consistanty awesome speed; but try and test them on their so called "unlimited" usage and you may think about it in a whole new way.
One thing you failed to mention about the low introductory price.....if you decide you want to upgrade from the 1.5 to a higher speed plan.....they Will Not allow you to upgrade until the six months is up........go figure. Cableone needs to clarify their terminology...

We are very happy here since we got our Cable One. We were on dial up and used Qwest for a total of $83 a month. Now we have better phone service and awsome internet speeds for less money for 6 months, then it goes up a little. We live in a tumble weed zone and dial-up was 25k at best. I get test speeds up to 1700 all the time. We have had service for 3 weeks and have had no problems. None. Our only concern is the power outage affecting phone service but a battery back-up for the modem would give us a few days.

Ps I dont use Cable one for TV, they stink. We Have Directv.
