ISP: www.inet2000.com
Location: Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada
Price of the service is $49 / Month (Canadian$ - so about $35 US$ Equivalent)

I was using Inet2000's dialup service for a few years and was pretty pleased
with it overall. I liked the reasonable prices and the services was
reliable, but I had the 'need for speed'. I'm 18 KM out of the city (about
12 miles) so ADSL & Cable are not available. I called Inet2000 and they
told me about the options available where I lived. Really, it boiled down
to Satellite or Fixed Wireless, however the satellite service is a hybrid -
one way service, so it would have still tied up my phone line.

They explained that the Satellite options would work for me for sure, since
I already have the type of satellite dish for TV service, but that the Fixed
Wireless needed to be able to 'see' the tower and if it couldn't, I was out of
luck. However, after talking about my location, they felt it might work out,
since I'm on a hill and in a two 1/2 story house. From the top bedroom
windows, we can see the city lights, so they decided to do a 'sight survey'
so see if I had reception. They were here three days later and the tests
with their laptop went well. We then arranged for them to come back the
following week. They cancelled that first install date and I thought 'OK,
here we go!' but they showed up right on time for the second install date
and all went well.

The installation was pretty good - better than the Satellite TV guy had been
a year ago. They just seemed more interested in having neat cables and left
very little mess behind. It also did take about three hours in total, so I
guess that the Satellite guys do so many installations that they are more
rushed or something. I don't know, but in any case the install went well.

The installation & cable was $249, but that also came with three free months
(at $50 / month) so the install netted at only $99. For $49 / month, it's a
really good value. My dialup was only $19, but if I wanted to install a
separate phone line, SaskTel would have charged me $190 to do that and
another $18 / month just for the phone line anyway. This really didn't cost
me much more.

I should also mention that one of my neighbours wanted to get the Fixed
Wireless as well, but he couldn't 'see' over the trees. To get him hooked
up, they would have needed to install a tower at his house and the
installation was expected to be over $1000. He decided against it and had
Inet2000 hook him up with the Satellite option instead. He's pretty happy with
that to, so I guess each to their own.

From a technical standpoint, I love my wireless. I have a 2MB service and
it has been very reliable. They had a power supply or something blow on
their transmitter and were down for an hour one time, but other than that,
it's always on. As far as speed, I get close to my 2MB when downloading
things from the Inet2000 site, so transfer rates as high as 170 K Bytes
if it's coming from their file server. When I go out to the
internet, my speeds are usually in the 40 KBytes down to 80 KByte range,
with 100K occasionally. Sometimes of course, I only get 10-20KBytes
depending on the site I'm on. Once on a .com.tw (Tiwan) site, I got only
1.2K/second downloading some firmware, so it still depends on where and what
I'm doing. However, overall, I average 40-80KBytes/second on my downloads
so I'm thrilled with the speeds. It's way faster than the 3-5K I'd get with
my modem anyway.

So, I'd give it a 5 out of 5 from my experience. It's a good value and
works really well for me. I've had no real troubles, so I can't tell you
how good the tech support is, but I know from my dialup days, Inet2000 was
always very friendly and helpful.
