I contacted the sales office on 4/12 and they scheduled my install for 4/15 between 12 and 2. On 4/15 the tech was knocking on my door at 9am asking if it would be ok to go ahead and get started. Wonderful!
He was an informed Tech, but he didnt want to deal with setting up my service thru my router as he claimed they were not supported. After a bit of trouble and a box swap he got me a signal and left the router for me to deal with.
I called Knology and after 2 transfers and an hour on hold got a tech to take the mac address for my router. Was told it would be about 15 minutes, 3 hours later I finally got service.
Tested my speeds and was coming in 400-800 down and 100-200 up. I was promised 3m down 300 up by the sales office.I called back tech support and they said that my speeds would pick up shortly.They never did.Five days later my speeds were running 300-1100 very erratic with huge drop offs and loss of connection. Again I called tech support and after another hour hold was told they were working in the area and it should stabalize shortly. They never did.
A week, five calls and ten hours of hold later I convinced them I had a real problem and they scheduled a service call for 4/26. A new tech comes to the house swaps out the box and can not get it to lock up a signal, checks the lines and pole behind my hose can not get a signal there either, three hours of trying to get a signal he finally gives up and tells me he will have to refer it to Maintance, and they would get it fixed within 24 hours. The following afternoon I called for a status and found out maintance had not even started my ticket yet, but was assured they would have me up and running in no time. The 28th I called back at 3am and after waiting on hold for an hour was told that maintance had indeed found a serious problem but they werent sure how they would fix it but that they were working on it, and that I had a tech scheduled to come to my house between 11-2 on friday morning. Friday morning I once again call Knology and asked for a status on my open ticket and was told there wasnt a ticket. I asked how that could be that I was expecting a tech anytime and was informed no tech was scheduled for me and that they were not informed of any problems. I explained the situation and she scheduled me a tech between 2-5 and told me to contact billing they would credit me a free month for this inconvience. Well the tech has now come and went, and once more bumped my situation to maintance. He did manage to get me an internect connection of 264/64 ( better than nothing ) but he told me not to get my hopes up because the comments on my file did not look good, he too told me to contact billing for a credit for this nightmare.
I contacted billing and after 35 minutes on hold they credited me a whopping $18, for the past 15 days + whatever else I still have to deal with. Oh joy.
Frankly all I can say is stay away these guys arent even close to what they advertise even when they are working. Gads what a nightmare
Well Knology Maintance was suppose to come out and contact me to let me know they were actually doing something , and still no contact.
Been running this since the tech managed to get me a signal friday.

Got an IM here from someone saying they would look at my account on monday. Frankly Im sick of people " looking ", FIX IT!

The installer was on-time. I wanted a line run to the closet so he ran me a new line from the box right into my server closet. He had no problem hooking up to my Linux router and waiting for me to configure it and test. I believe the current quoted speed is 2000/256 but I constantly get 2400/256. I can't really comment on tech support as I have never had to call them. For $35 a month there is no better deal in Huntsville and the surrounding area.

I was an Americast cable customer. I gather Knology bought them out in my area. I moved, and decided to switch to a cable modem from my DSL. I contacted customer service. To move my service and get setup for cable modem, I had to spend at least *45* minutes on the phone with the customer service department. Be prepared for LONG hold times and tedious processes. This part could really stand to be worked on.
Setup the install for a Monday. Happened to stop by the new place the preceeding Friday, and found they had come out and tagged the door.
Called back to Customer Service (another 10 minutes to get through) and was told it was an error they came by because the install had been CANCELLED. I asked why, they said it was because my SS# did not match. I asked why no one had simply called me, and they couldn't offer an answer.
They offered to reschedule the install for the next Wednesday. I had taken Monday off, so that did not work.
I finally had to contact a supervisor (another 10 minute wait) and they were able to get it re-scheduled for Monday.
I was happy with that, and prepared to keep quiet at that point.
The installer finally showed up on Monday, although he was fairly late.
I told him I had the computer setup, but it was not where it was going to be (It was directly in front of my back door for goodness sake!) and that the TV in there needed a line installed.
I noticed after he left that the installer did NOT leave any extra cable to move the computer, so apparently they felt it needed to stay in front of the back door, and further, that he didn't hook up the television!!!
I had to call BACK to customer service (Another 10 minute hold time to get through), and they said they would need to get me through to ANOTHER supervisor.
At this point, the best comment yet came out of the Customer Service rep - he said, and I quote "The person you need to speak to is not here right now. You will need to call back." There was no way I was going to go through all that waiting again, so I told him I'd give him my # and they could call me back.
So far, I've never gotten a return phone call. I do NOT plan on calling them back.
This morning, as I was getting ready for work, a technician knocked on my door. He said he was sent there as there was a problem with my install !!
I told him no one contacted me, and that I was leaving for work. The fix is scheduled for Monday.
At this point, I've no idea what or if I will be charged for all this. The last customer service person I spoke to said I would normally have to be charged if they send a service tech out a second time, even though it's not a well done installation.
We will see.
Overall, some aspects have been good. Customer Service is VERY poor, with terrible communication. I did like the fact that phone numbers are easy to get to on thier web site, and that even though it's been hell to get through to them, once they finally DID decide to do something, they came out and did it.
Speeds have averaged 700-800k, far less than advertised. I shudder to think of trying to call them to find out what that is about.

Knology was a decent ISP. The speed was around 240KB down, and like 35KB up. The service didn't ever go down while I had it, so I didn't even have to deal with customer service -- a definite bonus.

I ordered the whole package-phone,cable, and high speed internet. First the installers had no clue how to run the cables. First they drilled holes in the soffit then they just ran cables around my yard. Called the Columbus number for service. Very rude. told me I had only been a customer for a few weeks. Acted liked I had not suffered enough to deserve any service. When on there Corp website and sent a complaint. Got a response that all the cable would be buried and everything would be finished. That was 4 months ago. Still have two cables laying across my front yard under my fence, around by pool around my gazebo and back down the other side. have to move them every time I have the grass cut. Have sent out 3 different crews. They all say someone else will be back to bury the cables. I am to busy right know to have it all removed but the next chance I get it is gone. Stay away from Knology!!! The crews are sub-contracted and not employees of the company. they do not care if your job gets finished.

Download speed advertised at 1500K but I always get 2000K or above. Upload speed advertised at 256K and is consistent. It would be nice to have an option to increase upload speed if wanted by paying more or having tiered pay plans.

I had Comcast, and Knology had been in my neighborhood for a while, and one day adding up the bills, my wife and I figured we give their bundle a try since it would save us about $40 overall. I was a bit apprehensive since I heard horror stores about their phone.
Cooridinated the install on a weekday, since we wanted to keep our phone #. The salesman didn't try to push any extras on me, which was nice. The guys showed up right on time and ran the new drop and switched the boxes. I didn't want 5 boxes on the side of my house, so they took off the comcast one and put theirs on. They even ran another line for my computer and hid the cable in my siding.
I had an RCA modem so they didn't have to charge me for one (saved $4 a month). It took a bit to get the modem to lock in, but it did, and my speed is a little lower on the download, but double upload. I'll just have to do some tweaking (suggestions are welcome )
The TV install went ok too, and since they have Toon Disney on basic, my one year old has something to watch. Now, if Bellsouth will ever get around to releasing my phone # so I can switch my phone, I will be really happy.

I live in West Knoxville, the Cedar Bluff area. I have Knology Cable Internet access and love it. It is extremely fast and very reliable. Knology advertises 1.5Mb down and up to 256 KB up. I almost always get over 2 Mb down and 256K up. I have not noticed any significant drops in speed or increased pings during peak times (like someone I used to use, Comcast). I use my connection for VPN connection to home and work. I also use my Xbox live connection. Knology is not available in all of Knoxville right now. They are rapidly setting up new areas daily. I would highly recommend Knology to anyone that can get it

I ordered a cable modem when I realized I could bundle internet and cable for approx $10.00 more than I was paying for AOl and Cable separately. My connection speeds have historically been all over the spectrum form absolutely poor to just above rated levels(1500/256). Note: I have not been able to find where they actually rate there speeds in writing. The numbers above were provide by the technician himself and confirmed by a local competitor(Comcast). Overall Knology is just acceptable.
Cost= $ 49.95 along $ 39.95 with cable tv $29.95 with cable and phone
