To Whom It May Concern:
I wanted to write this review as I know how important they are to my business. My insurance business has been a client with Skyriver communications for the last 4 years and I have been extremely happy with their service. I strongly recommend them to anyone who needs internet connection. We have never had any problems and if there were any small issues they were handled and fixed before we even were aware. If anyone would wish to contact me personally for a recommendation I am always available.
Thank You.

For the past three years I have been regularly patronizing a hotel in Old Town San Diego that has been using Skyriver Internet service. There are the normal high load periods at the hotel which drag down performance but the hotel is supposedly buying 3mbps service. I have never ever logged faster than 1.024mbps down, same up even in the dead of night or morning when the hotel was mostly emptied out. In addition, service drops to zero quite frequently and can be down for hours. This property is near a defense contractor which is part of the MILSTAR project and near the harbor where there is a lot of high power communications equipment in use. This may explain the many outages of Skyriver service. Hotel management brought us - the guests and defense contractors ourselves into meetings to help them sort out the problems because Skyriver was no help at all. All Skyriver did was offer a higher performing tier of service at a higher price and then could not deliver on it. This is also a line-of-sight service that can be interrupted by a seagull flying through the beam or a plane landing or taking off from the nearby airport.
With all of the RFI/EMI, birds and planes in this part of town, any reputable company would have walked away from this sale because it is a disaster in the making and that is what has happened. Horrible service and terrible tech support forced a change to Cox Communications at this property which is under way. This is my only experience with Skyriver but when tech support is so bad that a hotel has to ask its guests for tech help, it's a pretty bad company.
Comments:
 | | Physical wire? If this really is as big a deal as you say, why not get a physical line to avoid line of sight issues. Certainly a fractional T3 would solve the issue for a hotel? | |

This is about an unbiassed opinion as you can get. We had Skyriver in 2002 for about a year. In San Marcos Ca. we were told are line of site to the antenta was excellent. We had nothing but problems I can honestly say that the service was no more then up 75% of the time. We then went with an all in one integrated product where they give you phone and internet on the same circuit and it worked very well. We then moved a couple years later to a new office in 2006 and we had limited choices we talked to Skyriver and they indicated their service was was better then the past something to do with the ohm or uhf signaling on the new microwave antenas they also said that where the office was located that we had clear line of site two not one but two antenas. We went ahead and had them install the service we told them it was imperative it works since we also use the circuit for VOIP The service has been in for 5 months and I can say its still horrible. every day with out fail the intercom goes on in our office with someone saying is the internet down and then you get another page saying yeap as usual. The service is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY intermitent if you need the service for mission critical servers or web sites with decent traffic dont do it.

I am in ontario. I can't get DSL. At first I thout this service would be better than DSL. Especially since I was paying 3 times what DSL Costs. But I was only getting 1.0 M down and 512 K Up ( they advertise symetrical speed ). On my DSL in Corona I was getting 2.0 M Down and 1.0 M up. I was only paying 69.99 in Corona here I am paying 249. Now comes the worst part. Over the last 3 months I have been down several days. And thew connection has been intetrmitant. You can't get through to tech support. And the local reps are powerless. They just go back to the coprporate office. The bottom line is there isn't much else. But I have found a good wireless carrier in OSWI net. They got me hooked up in 2 days and, they are local ( corporate office is close by ).

I ordered 1.5 up/down wireless broadband internet from SkyRiver.net. It's cheaper than a land line T1!!
The install was delayed because of all the rain we've had recently, otherwise, it would have been installed in 2 days.
The installer was on time, and very helpful. He broke a tile on my tile roof, and even replaced it with a spare tile I gave him, which I really appreciated. Otherwise, the install went without any problems.
I've had the service now for about 2 weeks, with no problems. I have always received my 1.5 up/down or better. I run my own e-mail and web servers, so I don't know anything about their web or e-mail hosting. I've had dialup, DSL and cable modem internet service, and this is the best connection/service I've ever had.

In a nutshell they are good when they work. But reliability is not their strong point. I've had problems on and off with them, and while their tech support is courteous, they do very little in the way of solving my problem.
They don't follow up with a problem until its fixed, only until you stop contacting them.
I have had a packet loss problem on and off for a while now, with no solution. It is wreaking havock with my VPN, as well as just regular use.
With that kind of reliability forget running any sort of business services or VOIP.
Long term I think I will contact someone within range of DSL who is near me, and run the connection wirelessly to my office. After all, isn't that what skyriver is doing? Except I will get 10x the bandwidth for less than what I am paying now. Obviously not a solution for everyone, but it should work out for me.

about 1 days "$99/month for 1000kb upload and download, but I am getting 7500kb upload and download" "None! No problems." "Getting more than I am paying for and better than T-1, DSL, and Cable put together!"

I live in a private neighborhood. In my neighborhood there is no DSL or calbe. I would never get cable. I looked around for another way around and I got Wireless High Speed Internet from SkyRiver. I ordered a wireless 1000KB download and upload connection at the price of $99/month for a 12 month contract. However, my speed is more than what they promised it to be. My speed right now and ever since I got SkyRiver connection is 7500KB download and upload for the price of $99/month. That is 5 T-1's, that is 25 DSL's, and that is 150 Dial-Up's. 5 T-1's range from the price of $3,000 to $4,000. Now I would compare my speed to Adelphia Power Link, but they always change. My friend has it, he said it was 260KB download/110KB Upload for about 25 minutes and then it went back to 170KB Download and 35KB Upload. Adelphia is coming to my neighborhood. Now I told everybody in my neighborhood to get SkyRiver. A lot of people want to get it and they say the price is great. I even told them that when I ordered the SkyRiver connection, they were at my house the next day and finished instaling. Wow, took less than 1 business day, but more like 2 hours. This company has proven itself to be a high quality company. They give a great product, more than what you are suppose to get at a very, very cheap price for what you are getting. All their employes are very polite and cutious. SkyRiver is the way to go.

First of all I am paying $99/month for 1000kb upload and 1000kb download. Now I am getting the speed of 7500kb upload and download for $99/month. If you want to see my speed test, go to the speed tests thing and type in this zip code...91362.... I am the only guy with SkyRiver my domain name should start with 66 and something on. That is it, thats what you asked for, those are my speed test results. Also wireless is able to go higher than what you have, only wire is not able to. You can't seend 500mb through a T-1 line, but my wireless on top of my house can reach that high. Also, someone mentioned i was a sales person. I am not a sales person. I am a customer who is now going to help his private neighborhodd to get the same deal I got and SkyRiver said they would be able to do that.
Also someone said that SkyRiver was not working well in LA, Oxnard, Ventura or whatever. SkyRiver said they were upgrading their systems and putting in new sites around areas in the year of 2003. I get emails that tell me from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM, which everyone is asleep, that they will be upgrading. Plus if you have a problem, you call them and they fined out whats going wrong. The SkyRiver installer had two radios already programmed and one was working but not at the right speed. It was 750 kbs. It needs to be 800kbs and more. So he put up the second one and then I started getting 7500kb.

about 1 days "Fast service, much faster than I thought" "unreliable, down often" "A good choice once they work out the bugs!"

Signed up for SkyRiver on a Friday, they called that day and scheduled the install for Monday. Couldn't believe they were going to get it installed in just 1 business day. Monday they showed up and got it all installed in just a few hours.
The speeds are really good, much better than I thought they would be. I have residential service and the 1mbps up/down is very nice. I would definetly recommend them to anyone thinking of getting this service.
**UPDATE ON 09/30/2003**
The service in my area is very very flakey. When it works, it works really really good and I have no complaints at all. As a matter-a-fact I would definetly recommend them. But I have had my service not work for 15 to 20 minutes at a time every few days for the past month or so.
I called Tech Support and they replaced my radio and were VERY good about it, they came out the very next day, but unfortunately that didn't fix my problems. But the problems they are having they say are because of not enough equipment, equipment that they are trying to upgrade, and too many users through the only router for my area. There are always excuses for why the service is not working, but all I know is that I didn't have these down times with my $42/month cable modem. Hopefully it gets better soon, and they said all these problems will go away once they get more routers installed. Hopefully it's not just an excuse to get me off the phone.
**UPDATED ON 10/19/2003**
Service has been really bad the past week, SkyRiver claims they are in the process of upgrading and replacing a bunch of hardware and that should fix the problem. On Thursday it was down for almost 12 hours (according to my Line Monitor from broadbandreports.com) but after that it has been up perfect for 4 days now. Maybe they replaced something that finally failed.
My biggest complaint is that they don't keep users informed about upgrades and scheduled down times. If they have to replace something or some hardware goes down, at least send an email letting us know that it "was down for such-and-such a reason" or "will be down at these dates and times for upgrades and repairs".
Hopefully the worst is over, I'll keep you updated.

This is my personal journal for my experience with the Wireless ISP SkyRiver Communications located at »www.skyriver.net -- From what I can see, this is the first review for this ISP.
There are only 3 choices for internet connectivity in my area: 1. Dialup 2. Charter Cable 3. Wireless
I have had Charter for over a year. They overcharge because they know DSL is not available. I pay $110 per month for 1500/128. Only recently has wireless moved into our area so I decided to give it a try. Research yielded SkyRiver as the best choice. They have no skimpy bandwidth limits like a lot of wireless ISPs, and their packages have the same upload as download speed, which is a huge plus.
(Mon June 16, 2003) The start of my experience. I got a call back from SkyRiver explaining all the normal stuff such as pricing/speed etc. They told me that the higher speed packages were not yet available in my area and that the fastest I could get was the 1.0 Mbit up/down package. I was told I could get two 1.0Mbit lines so that I could combine them using a load balancing router to get combined bandwidth of 2.0 Mbit up/down. The cost would be $100 each, for a total of $200 monthly, $99 setup. They told me to expect installation within 3 days.
(Wed June 18, 2003) I called to check on the status of the order and was told that installation would take place next Wednesday June 25th, little longer than I expected but still faster than DSL or Cable install time. They told me I could have a block of 8 IPs for free since I was ordering a fair amount of services. So far very positive experience. I have been in contact with the same person throughout the whole process and I have his direct number which he answers immediately anytime I call.
(Wed June 25, 2003) Can't get signal at my location
