It would be great if packages with HDTV could include the extreme high speed internet package.
Being limited to 4 TV jacks is somewhat inconvenient in a bigger house but nothing overwhelming to worry about.
The price breaks on bundles is the best and I can't say enough about how great the customer service; especially considering the population growth in our province.

    My Other Reviews·SaskTel Saskatchewan
I have Sasktel Max over a year and half now with no problems yet so I am happy the way the service performs since I got it from day one.

There is no PVR and High Def yet but they will be offering them this year, so hopefully I will be able to try them out and see what they like.

I like to have everything on one bill and I get bundle savings for signing up to this service.

I ordered High Speed Basic Self-install which is advertised at 1.5megabits/sec download speed, yet, I always(unless I am downloading from a slow host) get transfer rates in the 500-600kilobytes/sec range. Just did a speed test on Speakeasy:
Download Speed: 4984 kbps (623 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 523 kbps (65.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Talk about bang for the buck lol And there is no cap, I download around 30gigs a month with no over charges, so I am happy, alot happier then I was on my last ISP which had slower then advertised speeds and a 5Gig download/1gig upload cap.
I pay $22.47 for the first 6 months and $44.95 after that, before taxes and that stuff. And the self install is very easy!

I had Sasktel Highspeed Classic with Max last year and part of this year and the speeds were pretty good... average 150 KB down, but I wanted more.

So I signed up for Plus... for only $10 more you get way faster speeds, 4Mb down, compared to 1.5Mb down, and I am extremely happy with it.

Any of the speed tests I try I get 5Mb and over consistently.

Because I am a university student I get High Speed Plus and Max TV for $50 so I would say thats a good deal.

I am really satisfied with their install time as well. When I ordered it there was quite a bit installs going on yet from University students so It took longer (a week) but when they told me Tuesday then showed up on Monday, hey, all the better!

The trouble I had when switching to Plus from Classic though was the tech people saw that I got Plus on Tuesday and it was hooked up on Monday, so my account and speeds were still classic speeds, fixed the next day though.

I heard horror stories of it taking weeks to get ADSL from SaskTel. I signed up on a Saturday, and was hooked up & running the following Wednesday (Horizon in S'toon). The only problem I had was that someone was using the IP they gave me. It took a day or two to figure it out. Since then, all has been good.

I used to have Shaw@Home, but I really noticed a slowdown in the evening. It felt slower than 56K when viewing web pages. I guess everyone on my block has cable modems too My ADSL is very stable. There are no annoying slowdowns.

Also, they have no more contracts! I go month to month!

"Availability ... excellent coverage in major Sask. Centers; Very reliable."
"Time off work to arrange for splitter install,"
"Very satisfied customer ... no complaints here!"

I ordered SaskTel's Basic High Speed Service (1500 downstream/128 upstream - 45.99/month) in November '99. The package included modem rental, 4 email addresses, and 4 MB of webpage space. It took only 4 days between order and service (wow!), but friends who've ordered the service more recently have had to wait 3-4 weeks. SaskTel also offers 2000/384 and 3000/640 services, either static or dynamic IP. Details & prices are listed at »www.sasktel.com/highspeed/index.html.

The only downside I can find with the installation is that I had to take an afternoon off of work in order to arrange for the installation. A SaskTel technician came to install the ADSL splitter, and the service dealer (Dot.Com) was by 2 hours later to install the Ethernet NIC (included in installation fee, which was waived as part of a SaskTel HighSpeed promotion), modem (Alcatel 1000 ADSL), and configure the PC. The dealer ran into one problem on install (wrong IP sent with the modem), but this was cleared up with a quick phone call to SaskTel tech support.

The service has proven to be very reliable ... since my installation nearly a year ago, I've only had one service interruption that I can remember; the line was back up about 10 minutes later. Since I applied the RWIN tweak mentioned here at DSLReports, I've had consistent 1M+ results in the speed tests, and get 1.44+ Mbps throughput to local Saskatchewan servers. (That's actual data throughput after overhead, not just ADSL line rate.)

I would sometimes run into problems connecting with SaskTel's mail servers (Sympatico), but these symptoms dissapeared about four months ago. Since then, I've had no problems with the service; with the exception of occasional high ping times to a couple of US-based games servers. They also do not 'officially' support multiple PC's over the same ADSL line, but a SaskTel service rep explained to me that, in order to share the connection between multiple computers, they recommended putting a second Ethernet NIC in your main PC and configuring it to run as a proxy server.

Currently, SaskTel is the only option for anyone looking for ADSL service in Saskatchewan - I can't comment on their local cable-based competitors, but I can say that, in my opinion, SaskTel ADSL is a strong, reliable product.

    Interesting Fact:

According to their website, SaskTel was the first telephone company in North America to offer high-speed internet service using ADSL. (November '96)

I'm a heavy internet user so i needed something faster than dialup. I first tried the local cable company with a cable modem, what a mistake. The other option was ADSL from my local telco. ADSL is only avaible in one speed being 1.5Mbit/128kbit. this was faster than the cable! with it installed now i do get the 1.5Mbit speed from it large files just zip right along. standard service uses a dynamic IP but for a few dollars you can get a static one. install was ok, took about an hour to set everything up including droping a new line in my house. I am very happy with my ADSL service and the price is very nice also. I'm never going back to dailup again.

For those of you who read this that are from Regina get the ADSL service instead of cable...
