Value for money:

I contacted Lan2Wan and asked them to disconnect me from their ISP
service as of 7/21/2002. They apparently complied and sent a disconnect
notice to Verizon, who was providing the line. However, multiple
attempts by my new provider, Earthlink, to set up service, failed. I
was told by Earthlink that Verizon's records indicated that service was
still being provided on that line. Verizon tested the line and
confirmed that they were no longer providing service. It was Lan2Wan
who had not gone through the proper procedures to update records to
indicate they were no longer providing service. I explained this to
Lan2Wan, but they rudely refused to do anything further to follow up on
the issue. Earthlink even called them and got the same treatment. When
I told them Verizon said there was nothing they could do and that my
next recourse was to call the FCC, they said, "Call the FCC." Because
of this, I was forced to disconnect my old telephone and get a new
number.
