This is a 10mb package that is capped during peak time. (advertised as uncapped) Typical speeds have been as low as 0.2mb need I say more?

    not a fair review

no it is not capped it is managed, i get 20mb 24/7 as i never go over the 3GB limit between 4pm-midnight

clean your pc of spyware and get a firewall that dosen't leek connections and you might find its better.

ask TS if you dont know whow to do this you'll be amazed at how many open ports you have running you didnt know about

    @co.uk

    i disagree

ever since virgin took over telewest, the service is disgusting.. unaceptable in fact.. rather than upgrading there network, they cap if you go over limits (far from unlimited useage) so they heavily over subscribe as many customers as they can get...

virgin media is now an utter shamefull BB service, they got rid of all telewest management and got there own krew in who dont know a single thing.. there premium rate call line for tech support is in india to people who barley speak a word of english, who read from a book, and things like throttling isnt not in the book...

    there a complete joke..

    Virgin AKA Telewest

Absolutely agree with Marty99999999. Crap since Virgin took over...

Since RIchard Bransons empire took over - this service has gone from the best to the worst - there is just no need for traffic shaping, just upgrade your servers - yes this costs money - but do you think the internet is just to check your email's??

Well had a day off last week and decided to download a file from the net - hey presto VM have now introduced new traffic shaping technology!!

So if you take there new 50MB service and download inexcess of their agreed amounts your throttled back a total of 75%

why pay for a substandard service? why give you that speed and say sorry you've crossed the threshold...!!

I want to go DSL now - found a TitanADSL »www.ispreview.co.uk/review/products/586.html however I have to pay for a BT line installation!!

    Waste Of Time Internet

I have been with Virgin since the very early NTL/Telewest days and up until last year never had a single problem with it.
Then one day i started to get a lot of Disconnections on games, net pages crashing or taking ages to load. After continuing to report this since October last year and 34 phone calls later, i finally got a call from a senior technician to admit and confirm the is an exchange traffic overload problem in my area, and surprise surprise its been faulty since Oct 2008.
Now for the great part, getting to this answer has taken me to their Indian call centre on numerous occasions where they all spout the same " Have you reset/tried a new modem" drivel. In short i now have a massive internet Packet Loss and connection issue which wont be fixed until.... October 2009!!!!!
I cannot believe the cheek, and have been offered no refund, reduced rate or anything. We have basically been told by virgin we are free to look elsewhere for a new ISP. Which is what i am in the process of doing, poor service from a BIG company.

Package is XL (supposed to be 20Mb/s) I'm lucky if I get 1Mb/s to 2Mb/s
Costs £60 somthing per month (including phone package)
    Terrible customer service
    Techsupport hasn't a clue

Overall out of 10 I'd struggle to give it 1.......
