I have been with wonder wave just about form the beginning. They provide prompt service when there has been problems. If ComCast is anything like their Cable TV the outages would be unbearable. The folks at wonder Wave are courteous and willing to help. I would recommend them to others with out a problem.

Ordering the WonderWave wireless broadband service was easy by calling the local number. I had to call a couple of times for an initial site evaluation. Intallation was scheduled for about a week later. After the installers put up the antenna on the roof, there was no signal. Finally the decision was made to go with a 36 foot mast to get above the large oak trees in the yard. The installation cost went from $250.00 to $570.00. The techs stayed until about 8 P.M Saturday night, but I had to leave. The reurned 9 days later to finish the hookup (after several phone calls and cancelled appointments). They finally got me up and running. The had to come back to finish cleaning up the install and hook up the lightning arrestor. I have a Static I.P. with a radio reciever on the mast decoding the signal to a Cat-5 cable that plugs into a standard LAN cable jack.

After a couple of months, I lost service. This was due to leaves on the trees blocking the signal. After another $100.00 for an amplifier on my end, I have been getting a very reliable signal. They finished up all the other odds and ends when they installed the amplifier.

If I have any problems, I usually get a prompt response from Wonderwave technical support. After some initial trouble getting everything done and working right, the service is very reliable. Cable is now available in our area, but I had that in Waukegan, and it was very unreliable.

I give Wonderwave kudos for going the extra mile to get my system up to snuff, and they are always upgrading the system to improve reliability.

Had the service for about 6 months and absolutely love it. When I first moved out here a year and a half ago, I was disappointed to find out that the telephone company(who's line out here are $#&), and the cable company didn't offer broadband. Little did I know that Wonderwave was brewing up their own Wireless broadband service. Late last year I realized there were signs in the area for Wonderwave internet and thought to myself that they must be a dial up company. So I never looked into them until one day just after christmas, I was having trouble with my dial up account from the telco with really slow speeds and was fed up. I drove out to my friends house who has cable broadband and started searching for other alternatives. I looked into satellite which was very pricey and sounded cool, and then I remebered about Wonderwave. So I went to their website and noticed that they offered wireless broadband. How cool was that!!! All this time they offered broadband and I didn't even know it. I signed up for a site survey just after the new year and I was up and surfing in a week. I finally had 256/128 BROADBAND. These people are great!!! The owners are very friendly and whenever there is a problem they are quick to respond. The past few months there have been breaks in the service but all do to upgrades with their equipement. The only other problem that I have really had was as the leaves were coming out, my link quality was suffering. With wireless you have have to have a direct line of sight and leaves were blocking the path. They came out and raised my antenna and replaced it with more powerfull one and I was back in the game. Not to mention that the new antenna is awesome. All my friends say it looks like I have a space command center in my house from the way the antenna looks from the road!!! Its a great conversation piece. Anyway, that's my story and if anyone is looking to get broadband in the area should really consider Wonderwave. Even if Cable or the Telco company come to the area I will definately stay with Wonderwave. I like the fact that when you call the phone is answered by a live person. Not to mention they are just on the other side of the lake. No teleprompts to go through, and they have been quick to respond when trouble arises. I give them an A

I've had wireless for about 1 1/2 years now. In the beginning it was the best stuff I ever had! Now as it is a year or so later there is a LOT of people on it, more lag spikes, and not enough bandwidth to go around. I used to use this for gamming back when I first had it installed game pings to Chicago where around 35-40 ms now they are anywhere from 140+ and now if they do go down to sub 50 they NEVER stay constant.

Tried to play a game last few hours the SPIKES are so bad its like having dialup once again...

Absolute crap! Every time a phone rings the net goes down. Every time it rains signal weakens, Every time someone downloads it lags so bad. You also NEVER receive any type of credit for any of this. I would also like to point out the remarks the ISP gave me for my postings here.
[QUOTE]
In the future, be careful what you say on public bulletin boards, or
your service may be disconnected permanently.

Sounds childish of them don't you think?

WonderWave called me the other day and stated if I keep posting remarks about there service here I would loss my internet with them. As I recall posting on these forums is well within my rights. I would STRONGLY reconsider going with WonderWave as an ISP. If you post anything bad against them you would probably loss your internet as well. There has also been nonstop problems day after day. It's a hassle you should be without.
Of all my recent ISP experience I have never come across such an abusive ISP as WonderWave. Basically if you piss them off they will drop you and threating you.
Here is a list of the ping times right now.
