I am told that DSL at any speed is not available. I have Express speed. Diagnostics on 2wire indicate according to ATT Direct that i can get Elite. Ordered Elite and was told that DSL at any speed is not available. member for 18.5 years, 178 visits, last login: 7.8 years ago lodged 12.1 years ago
Former customer review: I had AT&T DSL for nearly 10 years. I used to get decent bandwidth (3mbps) but in recent years it I was lucky to get 1mbps. After having problems for the last 3 months with my service dropping out daily, I was told by tech support that it was a problem with my modem. I tried 3 different modems including a brand new one from an AT&T store and the problem was consistent. They tested the line and claimed that it was fine. I finally had enough and asked to cancel my service and get a partial credit but they said that everything worked fine so they couldn't do anything about it. So I cancelled my long-distance and will soon cancel my cell service too. Bye AT&T. I've probably spent $10,000 on your poor service in the past 10 years and they gave me a big FU on the way out the door. Don't make the same mistake. Cable modems are faster and more stable. I've had Ameritech/SBC/ATT DSL since 10/2001. 11.5 years of service and now I'm thinking of going to comcast....sad.... member for 23.4 years, 326 visits, last login: 6 years ago updated 12.2 years ago
I'd fire them if I had an alternative. When the phone line was installed, they never buried it. They just laid it in the gravel driveway. I was not aware of this when the house was purchased, and now the line has had several breaks in it, since repaired, but the line quality has been severely diminished. Despite several promises of replacement, there has been no action. This was after seal attempts at U-verse installations, which failed due to the line clarity. member for 14.1 years, 1 visits, last login: 12.2 years ago lodged 12.2 years ago
Worse service I've ever had in my life. The dsl service keeps dropping = multiple times a day. 2 techs have been out and say there's nothing = wrong? Either ATT's service "stinks" or they have terrible techs, not = sure. I would NEVER recommend ATT DSL as a service. (review was emailed from domain datameer.com) lodged 12.2 years ago

I needed access at a vacation home and all the plans were $20+ a month and rated poorly by the locals. When I signed up at AT&T for my phone service (only game in town) they offered a $10 a month basic 384/168 plan for a yea. Given that what I mostly want to do is check email I jumped on the price even with a 12 month commitment. When installed I had disconnects and was getting about 120 download, but over 300 upload. I contacted AT&T tech support and they said given the line quality and remoteness of the area (Olympic Valley, CA) that the plan offered did not cut it. They upgraded me with no questions to the 768k/384 plan immediately. I am now getting about 570/300 performance which is better than I expected. After all this is a weekend / vacation place. The more amazing thing is that I have been a long term SBC critic. If the new AT&T can deliver this price performance consistently they just may have a long term customer. Update: Upon receiving my first bill I find that they have charged me half the price of the modem for shipping. This was not disclosed and in calling them (SBC/AT&T), they refused to make any accommodations. While I would sign up again, AT&T has not changed. Buy your equipment from Amazon. They have lost all the positive goodwill from me that their deal gained. I would still sign up as it is the only deal in town I will revert to my long standing distrust of AT&T/SBC. Update 2: After 2 years they raised the price to $14.95. Still a deal. Bandwidth is ok. Webex , VOIP mostly work, Amazon and Netflix streaming do not work. May eventually upgrade for streaming and downgrade my Direct TV options in the winter. member for 19.6 years, 49 visits, last login: 3.6 years ago updated 12.3 years ago
