This is my first broadband experience. I've applied online for 1Mb DSL (chose credit card payment but did not enter the number). It was quiet for approx. 5 days. Meanwhile I was trying to find out what kind of modem I need. The tech helped me with a choice (via email, respond very fast). Finally I have GVC BB0060 (bought, in microbytes.com) - nice device for its price So in couple with Ethernet card I have simple hardware config. Simple NIC configuration, no config for modem at all. After receiving a confirmation I've got a connection within minutes without their help in configuration!!! (I've read modem manual and that little page on their web site - that was enough).
BTW it connects to the provider in 2 secs (I know some of my pals have this time much longer, for Sympatico say).

Two weeks at this point - no modem hangs, no connection interruptions. I can't believe it And no money paid yet so far
Typical speed test brings me 1384/321 kbps.
I am in Montreal area, NDG, (514) 485-xxxx

The only problem I have - I cannot get the info from them: when they will send me the first bill and how can I pay with a credit card... Well, I consider this as a minor matter as long as I have the connection and no caps

PS - another plus of the modem chosen - it is NOT USB one, there is built-in router + firewall and I can share the connection in the future easily. The firewall is disabled by default though.
Funny incident I had in the first day: connecting to the phone line, I screwed up
somehow the line and phone was not working at all (just mute), but the DSL connection was fine. Later Bell guy told me there was a short circuit in wall outlet in another room but seems this high frequency deivce does not care and works fine

July 31, 2003 -- still no problems.
Sept. 3, 2003 -- everything is cool!
Sept. 9, 2003 -- connection problems....
Oct., 2003 -- were some problems.
Nov. 3, 2003 -- Now everything is fine. Connection and speed are very good and stable.
Nov.16, 2003 -- They throttle P2P traffic.
Dec.8, 2003 -- Nothing to complain about at this point. I do not feel the throttling too.

April 4, 2004 - speed is 2200/600. Some connection problems.

April 16, 2004 -- After several weeks of connection problems and 5 days of having no connection at all, I've left them.

That's enough!

Me and NBN are new friends, so this will likely be updated as time goes on.

After having both Rogers and Bell, I was tired of the email downtime with Rogers, and the horrible customer service with Bell. My parents are already using NBN so I decided to give it a shot. Was up and running right away, which was great. Emal was down for a bit due to a spammer but nothing serious. I'm on the 3 MB package (I'm not sure what my upload is supposed to be but it's between 600-700 all the time). I'm using the speedstream modem I got from Bell for now, until I have to send it back. Service is pppoe, but OS X has the built in connector so no software for me......

It can be hard to get through to tech support but I really haven't had too much need for them. Hopefully this kind of service will stick around!!!!

Very Nice ADSL provider. They are not resalers of Golden Triangle anymore. And are now faster and reliable. Great service for the money. Bang for the buck! No caps at all. 1728 down / 384 up (the new upgrades) for $29.95/month with 100% positive feedbacks from many members, what are you waiting for? Sign up now!! They also offer business lines and 3meg residentail lines with no caps at all and dont plan on implementing one. Two of my family members are using Nothing But Net as their ISP provider and they are really happy with them. It is all in all a perfect ISP. I live in the Toronto GTA area.
