I wanted to post an updated, current review of this company. I've been with them for several years now and just recently called in to get a speed upgrade which was put through just a short time later that day. Other than a few issues when I first got the service and a problem that cropped up almost a year ago, which all have been resolved, my experience has been extremely positive.

My neighborhood is wired for Comcast cable but based on my own unpleasant experience years ago and the fact that very few people I speak to have positive comments about the company I have tried to avoid them. I have had DirecTv service for years which is now available through Believe as well. Believe's service has been so reliable that my wife and I are considering going with their voip phone service as well. My wife makes that decision but it's likely that we'll set it up.

The earlier problems that occurred, and I don't know of anyone that's never had a problem with their internet provider, were all handled graciously and quickly by the company. The same guys that set my service up at the beginning are still with the company and easily reached by phone or text if needed. I've never had that experience with any of the large service companies. So if you're in an area that can get their service, and they've greatly expanded the service area, you can't do better than these guys. I see all these promotions from Comcast and Verizon, "triple plays" and such, but when I actually break it down and figure out what I'll actually pay after the teaser promotions expire I won't really save that much from what I'm paying now. Plus I would give up services that have been extremely reliable and pleasant to deal with. It's great that there is a local company like this to deal with.

I signed up with Believe to move off of a pair of bonded T1s. I was able to cut my internet bill in half with Believe and still had a Service Level Agreement with 100% uptime guaranteed. It sounded too good to be true (and it was).

The speeds are occasionally on target. Our contract is for 8Mbps down and 2Mbps up. I can never get those speeds using nearby SpeetTest.net servers but do see them on occasion on servers in New York.

Our connection drops frequently on foul weather days and on more than one occasion a "routing issue" has dropped our connection altogether.

The support staff is usually decent to work with. I've never received a trouble ticket number and on more than one occasion I've called in later the same day for status update and the person that I reached had no idea that we had an outage.

There doesn't seem to be an end in sight as they indicated to me that they were not going to invest further in their network in my area until they attract new customers.

Aside from frequent outages, our biggest problem is ping time (latency). We used to push IP Voice over our internet connection but are unable to now because of latency. Gamers beware!

In general, I would recommend Believe for consumers who do not depend on a stable internet connection. If you use a VoIP service such as Vonage or if you are a gamer, keep your FiOS/Cable connection.

I would not recommend Believe Wireless for any business that depends on an Internet connection. The outages are frequent and the customer service is sub-par.

I moved from Comcast to Believe Wireless and it was the best move I ever made! Aside from them having me up and running in no time flat, their tech support is second to none! I can call, email, or text a problem to the support staff at all hours of the day or night and my problem is usually resolved within minutes.

Believe Wireless treats me like a real person and not some annoying customer who is fickle about his connection (even though I am). I do call them a lot to make sure my connection is in top form and they work with me to insure I am always happy with the results.

With a company like Believe Wireless I really don't understand how Comcast or other DSL companies can live in Baltimore because no company comes close to the service or reliability of these guys! If you have the choice, I would strongly consider giving them a call, I have recommended them to all my friends and each of them feel the same way I do.

After reading the generally positive reviews of Believe here and needing a back-up connection to the flaky DSL connection I had been using I contacted Believe to install their slowest service.

On their initial visit to install (on a Friday) they realized that I would have to use their Druid Hill antenna and they didn't have the appropriate one for that on hand but would order it and be back Monday afternoon to install. Their were back on Monday afternoon and the install was quick (considering they needed to mount and aim an antenna) and easy. Since then the wireless connection has had perfect uptime while the DSL line has still be having enough issues it isn't even worth using anymore. After having finally switched over to only use the Believe connection I decided to go for their fastest offering. While this will require an upgrade of the physical antenna they were able to upgrade my current service to faster than my DSL connection within about an hour of my request.

As far as tech support goes I had the opportunity to call them (it was my own fault) and I really appreciated speaking with a live local person who isn't just working from a support script but will listen to what your problem is and work with you to fix it.

  • Baltimore,Baltimore City,MD
  • Contract price not specified.
  • "Exceedingly excellent customer service and good value"
  • "none"
  • "Wild horses couldn't drag me to another service provider."

We signed up with Believe Wireless several years ago when we were opening a satellite office down the street. Prior to that, we had a T-1. Believe's Internet Service was incredibly affordable, and they also provided a solution for our second office (a point-to-point service that allowed our two office to function seamlessly as one (phones, network, etc)).

Believe is the only ISP that i have never had to call about an outage, and whenever we've added equipment or a service that requires their involvement, they are a complete pleasure to work with and have bent over backwards to accommodate our needs.

Five Stars... Three Cheers.... I can hands-down recommend them as the best service provider of ANY kind i've ever dealt with. If only all my service providers were as professional, competent, and easy to work with as Believe!

So these guys are all talk, they say 8MB, and we're upgrading our equipment and it will be 12MB. Bullshit! The speed sucks, I've had Comcast and Verizon DSL the speeds hold up when going to multiple speed tests. Believe is only fast on 1 speed test, fortunately for them it's the one they tell you to use. They must have a bunch of stupid customers if they can't figure this one out. Also I was getting 300k from my third party news service with Verizon dsl at 3MB, I was getting 1500k at my brothers place with Comcast 8MB I get 3000k at work, but with Believe 8MB I was getting 400k!

That Sucks!!!!!

  • "Ditch Your DSL and Can Cable! if You are in a Serviceable Area of Baltimore, Go With Believe Wireless."

I have been a DSL subscriber since the late 90s. I had service from Earthlink that I was really happy with (in Atlanta), but when I moved to Baltimore, my only option was to move forward with Verizon DSL. We had service for 5.5 years with no issues, but since January of 2008 have been let down by countless syncing issues, poor above-ground line quality, and less-than-stellar customer service - basically, we have been unable to connect 75% of the time. When I started researching options, a lot of my friends recommended cable, but the reputation for poor customer service (and lack of accountability) caused some serous hesitation on my part.

Finally, I came across Believe Wireless. I loved the option of NOT having a contract, and the plans on the website were easy to understand. I also really liked the idea of going local - in my experience with other business, the customer service is better, and they rarely try to spin the facts so you will like them more. So, I headed over here, to DSL reports, and read other reviews before deciding to jump - everything checked out so I took action.

I called on a Monday at 4 pm to set up an appointment to install the 5Mbps package. I was shocked to learn that the installer was available the SAME WEEK on Thursday. The installer was on time, and walked me through the process before beginning installation. The appointment took about an hour, and they even configured my service to connect directly to my wifi router, and set up all the details. He explained that they are pulling my service from Natty Boh tower, and what type of latency I should expect (pretty much none). Then he tested my speed (confirming 5/1 - upload speed is faster than what they list as the package rate of 768kbps), took my billing info, and went on his merry way.

The appointment was pain free, and our connection is GREAT. I have done two speed tests since then, at different times of day, and I get at or very close to 5/1 every time. I am a very happy customer so far, and will repost after having the service for a while.

I had Comcast for years, and had disconnection and billing issues, and it took 3 botched (read: missed completely) appointments that together wasted about 28 hours of my life before they actually arrived to install.
Believe showed up ON TIME and installation took only Minutes.
Friendly, personable service.

I went w/ the 50$ a month broadband. Not sure what speed it was, but it was as fast or faster than cable.

Small personable and helpful staff with immediate human responses to your issues (if you ever have them, which you won't) plus you get sweet deals if you refer people to the service, which you should, because they rule.
