Rural used to be the only high speed internet in town. They also used to be reliable. The service is constantly down. (Funny how our bill never gets pro-rated for the service we did not receive, but we have to pay in full & on time)

For a business, this is unacceptable. We need to be able to send & receive as needed, not when Rural happens to be working. It's very frustrating.

We had their wireless service, it was ok. Normal downtime, & the customer service was pretty decent. Maybe they sold or changed management? It also seems that since they added more towers the service is less reliable. & forget about calling if there is a problem. We are 24/7 - Rural seems to keep Banker/Dr hours.

We prefer to do business with local businesses, but we are going to have to go with another service. Not only is it a faster service, it's cheaper. We've resisted, but this last outage is going to be the last!

Sorry Rural, you weren't very loyal to a long time customer.

i was very excited about getting high speed for the first time in my area, rural had come out right away and set me up, and came back and adjusted the antenna.

a couple months had passed and i started having problems, most of them they could fix from there end, but when it came down to coming out and being on sight, it was like pulling teeth. after 6 months or so customer service and technical support got really bad every time you would call you get someone new that did'nt know what was going on and had to go through the whole process again, constant outages for a month straight one time. finally after a year with fighting with them and my last outage that they deduced was my location, without checking anything out, i finnally decided this is not worth it and called comcast and threw rural out..

I was a Rural Communications customer for two years. When they wallpapered the town with ads I was thrilled -- and rushed to sign up. Their tower was only two blocks from my house and the speed and connection were fantastic.

That lasted for about 6 months. Then they moved the tower 2 miles away. A tech arrived after a week of total service disruption and dropped off a new "powerful" modem. He didnt bother to hook it up. Another week passed and finally a tech returned and connected the new modem.

From that point on the service was never reliable. There were constant connection problems, poor ping times, and sluggish speeds.

I have spent the last THREE or FOUR MONTHS trying to get them to disconnect my service. They first give you the line "we dont know what to disconnect so send or fax us a letter". Their head tech said he would start the process of disconnecting - which he never did. ALL THE WHILE THEY WERE HITTING MY BANK FOR PAYMENT.

I am ready to nuke them from orbit.

Rural Communications has brought broadband to an area that the cable and phone companies haven't. I salute and support them for their effort!

I ordered the $79.99/mo SOHO package, which is a burstable 1024/1024 circuit. The $198 setup (at the time) included the wireless modem, antenna, cabling and professional installation. I also have a static IP.

Reliablity has been 100%. NO downtime as of this review, and I have had the service for a few months.

Speed has consitently been between 85% and 99% of the 1024/1024 advertised. IMO, that is very impressive, especially for a wireless solution. Ping times are inherently inconsitent with wireless solutions, but this has only affected me during gaming - nothing else. Certainly usable, but not ideal. They are working to improve this.

The Tech crew is excellent - very knowledgable and willing to help out while always trying to improve things.

Highly recommended.
