It took a while to get back on line after a lighting strike but it was a severe event - punched hole in neighbour's roof (slate tiles in UK) not shingles!

Ordered 8M unlimited BB from BT, £18.99 for first 6 months then 12 months @ £24.99; an average deal compared to other ISP's. Received home hub (ADSL wireless router) on time, took about 2 hours for BT to turn service on once old ISP was disconnected. Had to then leave hub to check the line for 2 hours.
The hub connected at 1M to begin with (according to the hub home page) then increased over a few days to 4.5M and has been decreasing every time it turns off or crashes, and is now sitting at 2.7M
Also ordered BT Vision service. Very impressed with the (Phillips) Vision box which an Engineer had to come to plug in (?) Unfortunately the On Demand content is unavailable a lot of the time. When it works it's very good, but watch out for the V04 error messages (equivalent to BSOD in Win 98). The HDD recorder and Freeview are very good, no problems there.
At the moment just waiting to see what happens with Vision. The broadband itself is fine, but I'm a bit confused as to why the line speed keeps dropping.

Using BT for more than 2.5 years now and have had free upgrades from 512 kbps to "up to 8 Mbps" in that time; in practice max downloads are around 6.5 Mbps. It has been working flawlessly except for a two day outage of phone and net at the end of 2005.
BT does not block any ports for incoming traffic, which is convenient for server testing. They will carry out open-relay checks if you run an SMTP server though.
The average Tech Support rating is because I don't know - I've never needed it.
They're not the cheapest around (cost is in GBP), but reliability is more important to me than price. And as long as they keep delivering a service like this, I have no intention of moving.

I was previously with Zen. They offered a fast and reliable service - so why did I leave? Well, £30 per month I could not longer justify a 1MB connection when competing ISPs were offering faster speeds, inclusive phone calls etc. So I went with BT Broadband for a number of reasons.
Speed, reliability, all in one home hub (saves having to have boxes for everything), free local and national calls and competitive pricing.
Installation was a breeze - plugged in the hub and waited an hour and was connected. There was no need to enter a username or password as the connection identifies the user from the landline number. Changed default security from WEP to WPA on the hub.
Broadband talk was very easy to activate. Call quality is very good.
Speed - some sites can't keep up! I'm getting on average 6MB/s - that's brilliant for my needs.
The salespeople were brilliant - for once, the rep knew what she was talking about (you read that right, a lady) and promised activation on a specified date - which happened as promised.
Fingers crossed and let's up this excellent service continues.

Like BT allot would recommend them to anyone. Never had a problem with it. So I wouldnt know what the telephone support is like. Probably much the same with BT if you know the right number it will probably be a dodle.

signed up 19th august, recieved email saying activation would be 29th august at 5 pm. activation was actually 10am (great). The speed is excellent but ive got a feeling that im the 1st person on my exchange to get broadband so the contention ratio (50:1) wont affect me yet. The setup was easy apart from my pc crashing right at the end but setup was not affected & it was my pc's fault. A few bad points: no linux support which is not a big deal but would be nice, no mention on the BT site about the 1GB / day limit (which can be reached in 4-5 hours!! A bit on the expensive side but I guess you get what you pay for - ive heard of some ISP's that offer broadband for £18 but are very unreliable! I'd rather pay more for a good service
