"no long term contract, thankfully"
"bad connectivity, worse tech support only solution offered is sell you hardware"
"would prefer a $9.95 dial up account"

I am in Addison Texas on a temporary assignment and needed broadband. I
found moonoveraddison as a wi-fi and connected to see what it was. I did a
few Googles and didn't find any bad press. I had a good signal so I signed
up for 1 month access. I should have continued to search because if I had
I would have found out that they are really Redmoon Broadband that is
hiding behind a different name because they have so much BAD press under
their real name. The connection varies so much from one minute to the next
that it is impossible to use. It is not stable enough to connect to my
pop3 server, I end up having to re-send things several times to get it
thru. My connection will go from 'Very Good' to 'Poor' in seconds then
back up then back down. Their only solution is that I send them $99 for a
'bridge' that once again ties me to a hardwired connection -- SO much for
the 'WI' part of 'Wi-Fi' if you sign up with them. And they do not even
guarantee that the bridge will solve the problem, If it dont you are out
not only the months connection fee, plus the $99 for the bridge but you
also still have to go to someone else and buy REAL broadband. For the
quality they provide I would as soon have a $9.95 a month dial up for any
local ISP. To tell you how bad they are neither Redmoon Broadband or
it's parent Newmarkettechnology even post an e-mail address in the contact
areas of their web sites. I can only assume because it fills up with
complaints so quickly their pitiful servers can handle it.

"Only good point is that they came and installed on a saturday"
"Service is unreliable. No one is available when service is out. When service is out it is out for at least 24 hours."
"RedMoon has got to be the worst ISP out there. For the reliability and service, it is a complete rip off"

RedMoon is the worst ISP that I have ever dealt with. The transfer speeds are nowhere near what they advertise. There is no customer support after 5 pm on week days and none on weekends. When you call on the weekends, you get a message that your call is being transfered to a service representative, then you get Damion's voice mail. They do not ever tell you what their service hours are. When the service goes down, it will be down for at least 24 hours. If it goes down on a Friday, it will not be back up until Monday, or the next business day. If they are closed for a week (for instance the week between Christmas and New Years), it can be down for a week. The "service technitians" are not helpful. Simply put, do not waste you money on them. There are better alternatives. If RedMoon is the only high speed internet service offered where you live, don't bother. Use dial-up...it is more reliable.

"No limits on downloads/uploads, no contracts required, affordable"
"Unreliable connection, speed is not what is advertised"
"the best you can get if DSL/Cable is unavailable"
Pre Sales Information:

Value for money:

When I first got the service it was up and down all day long for weeks. I wasnt able to stay connected for more than an hour or so without it going down for sometimes hours. Now service is a lot more solid so I cant complain about that.

The speed however is not 768k up/down as advertised, its more like 80KB/sec down for the first mintue of your download/upload and then its around 30-40 KB/sec for the remainder of the time.

The service is pretty good for online gaming and provides low pings to most servers with as low as 29 sometimes but averaging around 90 in most games (unreal XMP, Counter-Strike, UT2K4).

If the service had a more reliable connection and constistantly higher transfer speed I would be completely satisfied.

Update: Well its been a while since the install date, almost a year. Service is substantially more stable and sustained download speeds have gone up slightly so thats great. However, with SOL and rumors of SBC coming into the neighborhood, RMBB and their terribly slow, condescending, tech support is starting to look less attractive.

Also dont expect to be able to run programs like BitTorrent or anything that will require you to upload as you download. I simply cannot get them to work and www.filerush.com is used by a multitude of people so I know the trouble is on my end.

So while the increased speeds are appreciated, dont expect to ever use them for anything other than a quick burst to load a website. That seems to be the only thing RMBB wants you to use the service for.
