Home package: $39.95/month - 2MB/512KB, 6GB cap, 2 dynamic IPs Work package: $49.90/month - 2MB/512KB, 6GB cap, 2 dynamic IPs
I have this ISP both at home and at work and have been very happy with the service at both locations. At work we've been with sunwave.net for just over 2 years and at home for about 2.5 years. I don't use the service at home as much as I do at work so this review will focus on the service at work which is the exact same plan as my home service but work pays $10/month more.
There have been few planned interruptions of service. Maybe 3 or 4 of any length over the 2 year period and we get an email at least a couple of days in advance of planned outages. The speeds are consistently very close to the advertised speeds but most of my online time is between 11pm and 8am which isn't peak time. The dynamic IPs might as well be static as the work IP has changed once in the 2.5 years and that was due to a change throughout the entire system. My home IP has changed twice in the 2.5 years, once because of the same system change and once because of an issue I had with my router.
As for tech support, during business hours it's great but after hours and on the weekends the phone is answered by an answering service which will just take messages and pass them on. But so far that system has worked fine as the only outages that i've witnessed during non-business hours were caused by power outages and the service came back as soon as power was restored.
There isn't much broadband competition in town, There is Telus DSL and Airspeed Wireless Internet, neither of which i've looked into as i'm more than happy with sunwave.net
Update: I've switched to Telus at home since it's cheaper as I got on a reduced rate for 6 months. We still have Sunwave at work though and we're going to be getting an additional 3 cable modems so we'll have 4 in total, all on their professional package which is 10 down/ 2 up with 2 static IPs. They can't bond the connections together so i'm going to load balance and round robin them through pfSense. I raised my rating on their tech support as i've gotten really good support on the few calls i've had to make to them.
