Speed is good, I am happy they are upping the speed at no charge. Also happy that they recognize that some people want to run a server of some kind (OOL Boost).

As for cust service, - They have no clue, If they can not read it from a script, their stumped. everyone you talk to tells you something different.

Overall I am happy, as long as I do not have to call them for anything.

Ok, So I have been informed they don't use scripts. Guess I gave more credit then necessary. They only save the call notes for the positive call, 4x's they did not save the negative ones. 3x's they did not place a note on the tech job site to bring the correct equipment. Tech's are good to great, tech support sorry to say still no clue.

I am not a big fan of Cablevision at all, but after being a customer for about 8 years, I think that they offered the best product at the time, and if you don't have a high speed internet connection, this might be the one for you.

"Easy, painless install"
"A bit pricey for a smaller business"
"Get it"

We were using CLEC T-1 (Sprint) for data, and CLEC PRI (Paetec) for voice. Never really had any issues with the data side, but had several local loop (Verizon) outages on the voice PRI. Also ran into an issue with the CLEC where they did not properly allocate our phone numbers to us, and we ran into some inbound call routing issues. Our choices were limited due to our landlord. We wanted a single carrier who could accept full responsibility for our voice and data service, and provided a SLA.

After some pressure, the landlord finally caved and allowed Lightpath to wire the building. We chose the 10Mbps/50,000 minute data/voice bundle. They installed a fiber terminal in the basement and ran 4 Ethernet cables from the basement to our office. We use one each for voice and data, and there are two spares.

Lightpath provided a managed Cisco 1850 router for the data side, while the Ethernet cable plugged into the PRI card in our telephone switch.

The install process took longer than expected due to some construction issues with the fiber loop (Cablevision and the landlord had some "issues" to iron out).

We have been with Lightpath for over a year now. The service has been solid, we consistently get the contracted speeds, there is little latency, and we get good pings. Our voice circuit has never dropped to our copper POTS backups. I'd highly recommend them. An added bonus for us was that Cablevision pulled their cable plant in along with the fiber, and we were able to provide video to our employees.

    My Other Reviews·Verizon FIOS
Decided to hook the cable TV back up due to the fact that I'm waiting for FIOS TV to go hot in my area and didn't want a 2 year contract with D* TV (my previous TV source).

Got 'deal' on the Gold package and DVR due to the fact that I'm coming back from satellite. $94/month for the Gold, with 1 HD DVR and a second receiver.

Set up install for Fri bet 8/11 AM. Got confirm auto call the day before. Installer called ahead around 9:30 to say he was on the way. He arrived around 10 AM, not Cablevision but a contractor. He re-connected my service and installed the DVR and 2nd receiver.

As I was already 'cabled up' all he had to do was re-connect at the pole, install new ends on all the cables he could see (didn't touch the splitter in the attic) and enable the boxes. He was done in around an hour.

    Details:

    - I just wanted TV, rep on phone KEPT PUSHING triple play.

    - New 'grounding block' just hanging in air, not attached to house (cinder block). Ground from incoming line snipped, but ground to outside spigot was re-attached. Guess I don't need to worry about ground loops

    - The on screen guide looks like it could use an update, the guide from D* TV was much better

    - When tech was installing the SD box I ordered for the bedroom, I realized it didn't have enough ins and outs to feed the TV and the DVR. Went to the local office and traded it in for a HD box in about 10 mins.

I guess the best part for me is the lack of a contract, but to be honest the 'install experience' was pretty painless.

"Customer Service and fast installation"
"14 Gig/month Download limit"
"Great but not if you download movies or games so......"

    Acceptable use policy is unacceptable

The following is an email i recently sent to Galaxy Cablevision
    »www.galaxycable.com/ISP/legal.htm

    Subject: Acceptable use policy

    23. User usage should not exceed more than 14 gigabytes combined of uploading/downloading of information per month. If user does exceed this allotted usage they may be subject to additional charges and/or possible termination for cause.

I spend $100 a month for your serves. I have been a costumer (off and on; i move alot) for some time. I also recommend you services to everyone. Mainly because i haven't found costumer serves that surpasses that of InerTech. I have never been harassed before and this "fair use limit" is unacceptable for my needs and the amount you are charging.
Your competitor, Windstream (»www.windstream.com/support/default.aspx), dose not restrict bandwidth nor dose my connection through Alltel Wireless(»www.alltel.com, 1-800-255-8351). Both services are available in Shickley NE and run about $89 (NOTE: both include phone services the actual Data plan part is unlimited and much cheaper)

I would like information on your solution to this issue. I have been advised to enroll in a business plan. If this is offered at reasonable or comparable price i will consider that option. If not addressed, my business will be taken else where along the my advising my local customers (i own a small and trusted PC repair/advice Company) to use your service.

Just moved up to Hopewell Junction from NYC on 12/04/07. TWC only offered 7Mb/s service (for residence use). OOL offers twice the speed for the same price. And it has never dropped out. Always there when I need it and I couldn't always say that about TWC!

This is the only cable option in our area, however high priced and low speed dsl is also available. We live in a small town (no traffic light, and one stop sign on the main road small) so I'm actually highly impressed with the service I get. We were one of the first houses in the neighborhood to be hooked up when it was first available in-town. Back then our option "Silver" was only 600/100. Since then we've had two speed increases (to 1m/256 at no additional cost, and now 3m/386 for only $3 more a month). There are higher speed tiers going all the way up to 10m/1m that was recently added. Service is fair, when the first installer split an already present cable line that ended up seriously messing with our connection's reliability another installer came out and brought us a new line from the box at no cost. As I mentioned in the bottom line this is Service Electric Cablevision, which is a separate division from many of the other Service Electrics. If you are considering Prolog High Speed through Service Electric Cablevision I would highly recommend it. The prices are more than fair (however the "Bronze" package would be rather slow for anything more than simple surfing) and keep in mind my installation ratings are from years ago, and I haven't had to use Tech Support in quite awhile, either.

i have an HDMI to HDMI connection from the current Cablevision SA DVR to my Samsung DLP. Paying a ridiculous amount of money for the couple of free hours a week I get to watch TV. Set top box keeps snapping off and then requires a reboot (killing time right now with this review waiting for the box to reboot for the third time this afternoon). Talked to tech support any number of times over the last year and they gave me, what I now know to be, BS answers. They even had me travel to one of their drop off centers to exchange boxes. Seems they know that the problem is with the box, the HDMI to HDMI and HDCP compliance bug which sounds like a software glitch they can't fix. My DISH PVR never had a problem like this. Hope I don't have this problem with FIOS. Bye bye CV!
