Signed up for Elite DSL in Oct. 2008 to cut my relationship with Comcast. The on-line order process was easy. Placed the order on a Saturday and I received a confirmation email Sunday and a call Tuesday to say my service would be operable on Wednesday. The modem came Wednesday morning and the self install was very easy. Up and running in less than 30 minutes. The only thing that wasn't clear was how to set the modem to "Bridged mode" to use it with a router. In terms of availability, the service has be very reliable. Have had only one drop out that only lasted a minute. Part of my disappointment may result from the downgrade from Cable Modem with Blast to DSL. But the speed has been pretty inconsistent. It hasn't been horrible, but it's noticeable in large file downloads. My work VoIP doesn't like the inconsistent upload speeds. Skype is slightly more tolerant but has occasional issues. I would say I'm at about 70% on the happiness scale. 2/11/2010 Well it's been 16 months now and the service has been very stable. I've only had one outage when my modem hung. It came back right away after a reboot of the modem. I still miss the faster speeds. Hopefully Uverse will hit my neighborhood some day soon. Not holding my breath for it though. I'll say I"m at 75% on the happiness scale due to the stability. 6/13/2010 Take my happiness scale down to 0% My modem died. AT&T is incapable of working with me for replacement. The sent one to my home address after agreeing to ship to my office. UPS lost the package. Now, not only are they unwilling to ship to my office, but they want to charge me not only for a new modem, but for the one lost in shipment. On top of that they want to charge $100 each while their own web site equipment page shows them for $75. I'm disgusted by their lack of customer service. I've spent 3 hours on the phone with 5 different people, and been transferred to dead extensions twice. Between my phone lines, DSL and wireless, I send AT&T about $270 a month. For that money I get dead DSL for what is now 14 days and wireless service that doesn't work in my home. I think it's time to DUMP AT&T. member for 19.7 years, 248 visits, last login: 6 years ago updated 13.7 years ago

When U-verse finally became available in our apartment complex, an ATT sales rep came through to let everyone know. While she (Linda) really didn't have to do a hard sell on us (we had been waiting FOREVER for U-verse) she really took care of our order, keeping us updated all the way and ironing out any problems (for some reason our apartment hadn't been switched to green even though it really was ready for U-verse). I liked having a personal sales rep and she was really on top of things. Kudos to Linda for her hard work and a job well done. We ordered the U-verse bundle with phone/internet/TV. Internet package is Max (up to 12 mbps) Our install date came on 5/28 and our installer (Todd) arrived on schedule. Our apartment was/is probably an installer's nightmare. Apparently our phone lines are a bit "messed up" in layman's terms I'm sure he was completely irritated with such a challenging install, but it never showed. He was super-friendly, informative, and considerate of how we would be using the service (my son is a gamer and would have been just a little upset if Xbox, pc, etc. wasn't able to function properly on the Internet). It took a while (over four hours) but Todd was determined and he really made it work for us. ATT should be proud and happy to have him as part of their company. I give huge KUDOS to Todd for making our install a pleasant experience and just for being such a nice guy. We are using a 2Wire residential gateway with 4 pc's connected wirelessly. Speeds are right where they should be (even with 2 U-verse TV's on and any number of our pc's and an Xbox connecting at the same time). Bottom line: We really love our U-verse! member for 20.6 years, 705 visits, last login: 12.4 years ago updated 13.8 years ago
I have the Elite package up to 6 mb, I average 5.2 mb down , .650 mb up. I have never had a major outage or service issue. AT&T 2700 HG-B WI FI Router. I was on a 6 month promo package of $17.50. Then it went to $23.00 for one month then up to $38.00. !! I called retention and got a $30.00 rate for 12 months. Not happy about the wild fluctuation in pricing. Customer Service Retention Department agent was very friendly and co-operative. Charter Cable Broadband is also an option. Cannot beat the price. Service rock solid as ever! Update: 05/09/2010 Still using ATT DSL. Service is awesome and downtime non-existent. member for 19.4 years, 494 visits, last login: 11.2 years ago updated 13.8 years ago
NEW*** ATT raised their rates, but I contacted the retention department and asked for a reduction. Although I could not get the $24.95 special, I did receive the same speed with a one year contract for $28.00, a savings of $10.00 per month. It was easy and the rep responded favorably to my request, for I'm taking a huge pay cut beginning in July. Thanks AT&T. The contract with DSL Extreme ended and they offered no incentives to stay. I decided to return to AT&T (SBC). The sales information was correct and I did not have any downtime. The rep told me it would be a problem from their end, but as a customer I should not be involved in internal conflicts. He apparently made sure I did not have any issues with the switch. I ordered the Pro package, but was not receiving the speed and used the forum to seek a remedy. The tech had the issued solved in three days. The lag was due to my working during the day and inability to check for messages. This was no fault to the tech. Overall, I'm pleased so far. DSLExtreme was also a very helpful and knowledgeable provider. member for 21.8 years, 2455 visits, last login: 9.2 years ago updated 13.8 years ago
Happy with AT&T DSL. Only had two occasions to contact service. Each time I had to go through the retard hoops until they finally realized that the problem was on their end. I had to INSIST that the idiot on the other end of the phone run a diagnostic on his end of the line, and when he finally acquiesed to do so, said, oh yea, it's our problem (I guess you don't have to reinstall Windows now). But, I've had this service for 7 years, it just keeps on ticking, and has been very reliable! Only had problems a couple of times, and got those cleared up quickly. The service is up and highly reliable 99.99% of the time. member for 23.4 years, 35 visits, last login: 333 days ago updated 13.9 years ago
I subscribed to the Elite package, 6000 kbps download speed. I got about 2400 kbps at the beginning so I was really disappointed. I spoke to and asked help from MrFixitSC and apparently, my house is too far from the CO. This is true. About 10500FT from CO. Luckily, there was a Connecticut ATT line person who fixed my filter outside my house and magically, I got 4 MBPS which is what I really wanted and hoped for. Too bad I did not get his name to thank him via his management. We contacted ATT to find out his name to no avail. He usually serviced East Haven instead of Madison. The Madison person was not so good. I will continue to support ATT-SBC since I have a lot of good friends who work there. Financially, ATT land line and DSL is really higher than Comcast HSI. I already am paying over $100/mo for HD cable, so enough for Comcast. member for 18.9 years, 732 visits, last login: 4.9 years ago updated 13.9 years ago
I've had ADSL service for about 9 years, and only have had two interruptions in that time frame.Started with the 1.5/384 plan, later upgraded to the 3008/512,and finally got the 6016/768 service. Still on 6016/768 DSL Elite service, and glad to report service is bug free. member for 22.1 years, 4107 visits, last login: 6.4 years ago updated 13.9 years ago |
