Ordered 384/128 Plan @ RM111. Price dropped to RM66. Upgraded to 512/128 Plan @ RM99. After recent free upgrade, 1024/384 Plan @ RM99. Now at 1024/512 at same price. ** Update ** Same plan but Streamyx 'quietly' upgraded my line to 1500/512 kbps for the same price. Bandwidth test from ISP's server gives 1200 - 1300 kbps. ** end update **
Order/install took 1 day once paperwork got done. Getting paperwork done took 2 weeks, lost my application, need to reapply.
Home equipment is a broadband router + WiFi & several PCs, notebooks. All under influence of an inverter based UPS with surge & spike protection as well as overload cut-off and underload failover.
Streamyx provided ADSL modem with service.
PPPoE IP assignment by ISP.
Good experience: Modem and router have never been deliberately switched off since installation except for rewiring and reconfiguration. Total downtime for modem & router does not exceed 48 hours after 5+ years. One single PPPoE session can hold for as long as 40 days without disconnection. Add: 2 yrs on and not a single unscheduled (longer than 30min) line/service fault on my end (excluding submarine cable breaks). Still the same olde Hyundai HASE-220 modem - a bit dusty now.
** Update ** Telco provided HASE-220 has died. Telco replaced with a ZTE modem, FOC, took 24 hrs. ZTE had a lightning hit which killed the router and NIC of 1 PC. But the ZTE is still running strong. A wonder. Replaced Linksys WRT54G router with a WRT54GC.
Of late, (Q1 2008), have had 2 unscheduled service interruptions lasting longer than 3 hours but less than 12 hrs. Just had the 2nd interruption just now, lasting 3 hrs. Network/DNS is still healing as I'm typing this. ** end update **
Bad experience: Long wait with Helpline, 1st tier help desk personnel unable to solve ALL my problems. Needs 2nd tier help desk personnel to intervene. Bad transparent proxy took several months to rectify severely crippling normal HTTP transport.
Edit: Helpline no longer has long queue last week. Got my line re-connected/re-enabled within 15mins, but cant do this while I'm on the phone with them, had to hang up and wait and then try. For me, this still is 'super fast' response. One more good experience and I'm willing to remove 'bad help desk' as a bad point.
Edit2: Help desk still cannot solve ANY of my problems when contacted. Instead, they gave me the usual 'cock talking' procedures of virus scanning, clearing cache, etc which I've NEVER had a problem with.
Addition: ISP still cannot reconcile similar throughputs when connected to different IP addresses. Some IP ranges can get superb throughput all day long, while some only give you 25% of subscribed throughput and had to recycle PPPoE session to 'source' for a better IP address range. THIS IS NONSENSE!!! This points to VERY, VERY BAD infrastructure planning by the ISP and can be a disaster waiting to happen.

I've applied for the Streamyx, online, the 2nd time since my uni days at Peninsular Malaysia (I'm in Sabah). It's package 512k at RM88.00 per month.
To my surprise, I only have to wait 2 DAYS to have them installed. The contractor called me the first thing in the morning of the second day to have it installed. At first, I think everything is fine and dandy. But...
Bad point first:-
I've checked the modem configuration GUI (modem is free b'cos of promotion) - ZTE ZXDSL 831) and found out that I'm connected to the port at the exchange at 384k (and not 512 in my package). All calls to 1300889515 and the local Kedai Telekom is fruitless. And most of the time they think I have a slow connection caused by bad wiring condition when the truth is simply that my port is wrongly configured. Till today, the connection cap is still 384k. And I'm still calling 1300889515 on regular basis. More call for them than for my GF. Thank God it's a local call rate.
Good point (kinda):-
The connection is satisfying. Considering the fact that I'm capped at 384, I always managed to get up to 42kbps download speed (that's very good considering that 384 optimum speed is 48kbps). Unexpected downtime is at minimum (or at all - but still, I'm only have this for nearly 2 months), unlike the first accoiunt at Peninsula Malaysia. The only online game I played is Serious Sam Second Encounter, and on a good server, it's like playing on a LAN. Now if only I get my rightful connection of 512k....
Well, that's about it....
edit: Problem fixed today, now get what I'm paying for. At good servers, downloading will max out at 50 - 51kb, pretty good. Still maintained my stance about TMNet sucky customer service.
additional editing: After being upgraded to 1MB/384kB, the speed can still be considered satisfying and stable (although with a predictable reduction in SNR signal). Can get full speed at most times in HTTP downloads and Bittorrent. A new complaint is the proxy server TMNet has started to use for HTTP traffics. I can understand them doing so to save bandwidth, but AT LEAST CONFIGURE IT CORRECTLY. They have to make the proxy server transparent, so that remote sites will not know the traffic is passing through one. There are sites I frequent out there that detected the proxy server's IP instead of mine, and that caused a lot of problems.
New edit: The proxy is not used anymore. Generally has pretty good speed in P2P applications like BT, but normal surfing and HTTP downloads are somewhat slow.
Edit (7 September2007):- Nothing new, still the same old crappy customer service and now BT is throttled. Not that hard to circumvent though. Also has been upgraded to 1.5Mb/512kb.

If the connection is up, its smooth and all is fine. If it's down it really is down, tech will not inform you and most likely have no idea what is wrong anyway. the call center staff is entirely computer illeterate.
tm is now the biggest throttler in malaysia, blocking all UDP connections, throttling all P2P applications to zero. avoid this ISP if you want to engage in P2P unless you are prepared to add a VPN - then all will run without problems.
Bills come regularly and prices are very decent - for ca. 25 US you get 1024/384 advertised speed. they actually provide 1536/512. especially the uplink is extremely good. tip: keep a backup provider - when they are off, you are out
overall: TM is for many areas the only option, so go for it and adjust according to your requirements. also due to the political situation in malaysia it migth be advisable to use a VPN if you want to participate in controversial issues (such as goverment related issues) to protect your identity.

When Malaysia first has this broadband launched I was very excited. Like all the others I registered and wait in the queue for my application to be processed. I paid for the installation fees but the technician did not came over as promised but few days later he call and convinced me to setup the connection myself because he was too busy. Fortunately everything goes on track but I felt cheated because I paid for the installation fees.
It was almost smooth ride and then after few months later I was not getting the speed as promised. Interruptions occurs almost everyday for almost 2 weeks and no rebates are given although I made a proper complain letter.
Until now the ISP keep on heavily advertising of their services although they could not keep on the demand. As a result bottlenecks occurred and surfing has been not smooth as it would be few years back and the service kept getting worst. The ISP upgrade the line speed without any extra charge but it was just for "decoration" as it serves no purpose at all because the service is still not improving. Currently they have been shaping the traffic but it does not seem to help too.
Final words are Streamyx should really improve their current service and work more on after sales service support.

Been 3 years now i am connected with Streamyx. Its promising when it first release but time comes, they hardly make notices and announcements about whats going on within the service or international links.
The customer support and help desk is all mostly dummy. 9/10 times i made complains, they were answering machine or auto-reply emails. Certain time, there is technicians pick up the calls but thier knowledge is too shallow and they dont even know what is TCP/IP.
Currently, i am subscribed to 1MBPS pacakge but without notice, they upgrade to 1.5MBPS in dslam and 2MBPS cap at account. WIth that, i was given an awful dsl signal at 7db on each connection.
As a home user, we were given dynamic IPs and most of the time, they mislead you to different and far away gateways which will give you connection reset nightmares. As stated above, all complains about these only gives you the please use direct connection and off your home alarm system replies.
My advise is, opt for other service if you can. Streamyx contains tons of blank promise and awful service. Its not worth the RM88.

My experience with Tmnet Streamyx have gone uphill and downhill over the past few years.Initially when I first took up the service, the frontdesk pesonnel weren't quite friendly at the registration office but tech which came by my house to install my line was very helpful indeed. He called me up a few times to make sure that my line was performing properly almost every month to solve the teething problems at my local exchange.
Unfortunately many of the staffs at my local exchange whom I know had all been transferred elsewhere and they are slowly being replaced with new ones whom I am not familiar with.Contact number at the exchange as well as cell phone numbers that I used to report to the the right people the last time have all been taken down to avoid direct contact with their staffs.Even worst yet instead of handling problems locally this useless isp have now forced everyone to report their connection faults to a lame national call centre which is being outsourced to some other company.Contacting these teledroids is the worst experience you've ever imagined. They will ask you to go through all sorts of stupid troubleshooting steps before they can make a report to their so called "upper level" department.Hell knows how many levels my problems need to be forwarded to before it reaches the right person that will see to my problem. So called "professionalism" has been taken to new heights but efficiency has plungged down to levels that are not even worth commenting.Line speed reports are assumed to fall on deaf ears now.
Commenting on my line performance, well when I first got my line up and running line contention was believed to be low that time since it was new.Didn't have any problems reaching near full speed but I was bugged by many problems such as modems incompatibility, slow upload and frequent downtimes. There were times when the line went down for days!Days past and reliability and uptime improved until one day my phone port at the exchange died on me.Called up for replacement and succesfuly got what I wanted. They finally transferred me to a new ADSL2 ready DSLAM but the ip range I got after that was the dreadfull 60.48/51 type which many cursed at but I thought it was ok then.Saw some improvements after that such as improved uptime, modems which did not work with the earlier connection turned out to work after all, consistent speeds which are close to the package I subscribed to.
Unfortunately this situation lasted for only a few months. Now it's nothing but nightmares.I'm paying for a 1mbps line today but I'm only getting something which is even less than a 384kbps line that cost less than 1/3 of what I'm still paying now.Reported countless of times, tech got back to me just to keep me quiet and close the case everytime. It's been going on for almost a year now.The only times which I get to see some speed bumps are during the wee hours of the morning like from 4am onwards till 9.Why should I pay for a service that only lets me reach near its promised speed for only a few hours in a day when most of the time I'll be dozing during these few hours.
In addition they've also launched a few value added services which looks interesting over the years such as video on demand and voip BBphone services.I'm holding back myself from subscribing to this additional services because my confidence in them is growing slimmer by the day.You can't just expect people to trust your extra services when you you can't even deliver your basic line right?
I've given up totally on this service but I've no choice but to continue to use it since there's still no alternative fixed BB service in my area.
My experience is almost all bad for this service.

The bad, and that pissed me off: Their tech support is really sucked. One can opened\lodged a complaint about a tech problem usualy about poor conx, and this report\complaint can go for more than 1 month unanswered!
Well, I managed digup some info on local forum how to resolve\workaround this problem by OURSELF (customer).
The good: There's really none come to my mind. Given that we (Malaysian) only have 1 major fixed line communication provider, one can hardly tell good as no comparison. But bad is very obvious, and no need comparison.

The only ADSL widely available throughout whole Malaysia, with RM88(US$23) for 1024Kbps/512Kbps.
Doesn't have good customer services, when you call the customer services, it's not toll free, and the staff on the line will give you some crappy instructions, and it's totally wasting some peoples time, because peoples already know what is going on.(but they still want to ask you follow the instruction, when you told them you have done it.) If you call them 2nd time, the other staff on the line will ask you doing the same thing. The worse is, you gonna pay for those calls, and the staff on the line might just ask you hold on.(I experieced it before, and hold the call for more than 10minutes, which costs me about US$2.00.)
Very bad customer services i can say and some of them do not know how to speak english.
Nothing much to concerns, the service need to be improve.

- latency of connection (client to ATM) is high..
- bad customer service..put on hold for aprox 10 mins before attending for our calls.
- congested traffic...which is very SLOW...esp on weekend.
- connection speed fluctuate like no-body business.
- not much option for its subscription package.. only 1M/512k... other country are offering much better package for its customer.
- traffic shaping is a BIG "No No"
- should increase its international link bandwidth by making good use out of our money instead of buying big n nice car (4x4 pickup/SUV) for their own staff and advertise their service.
- Session hang?? (always) should implement somesort of detecting mechanism.
