Our small business signed up with Atlantech about five years ago with a full-time 28.8kbps internet connection. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Dialing up and sharing one email account was replaced by multiple addresses, our own domain, and 24-hour connectivity. Getting e mail every two minutes put us in contact with our clients who use email to communicate. Atlantech was largely responsible for the success of the upgrade: they kept the network up practically all the time. We frequently heard from others that their email "wasn't working" or "the server was down." That was rare for us, and has continued to be the most infrequent of unpleasant surprises as we've upgraded to 384/384kbps and 1.1/1.1Mbps dsl connectivity.
Altantech also has competitive prices. You can save money as a small business by getting residential dsl service, but at the business level, Atlantech's rates are affordable. Atlantech also responded to our need for upgraded dsl service last spring by pushing Covad to meet the advertised deadline at a time when others we knew were waiting weeks if not months for connectivity.
How can they improve? Like other growing ISPs that have trouble managing all the new business, Atlantech at times has made poor customer relations decisions, like sending annoying, multiple automated billing messages for a time, and some occasional snafus over pricing, but these episodes are the exception and not the norm. Atlantech can also improve by helping to educate the more clueless amongst the unconnected and connectively-challenged about how their services combine with available technology and current applications, then steering people who need help to other vendors that can do the work that Atlantech doesn't. You the customer can avoid snafus as well by hiring a network administrator if you don't have one. Don't expect Atlantech to to send someone to your place to do cabling and troubleshoot your network control panels.
Our bottom line review of Atlantech is that the connectivity they provide is very reliable, the price is competitive, and their leverage in the marketplace allows for growth when you need it.

Below are comments i recently made in a referral to a colleague about my experiences with atlantech's services:
. . . it was good talking with you this morning. Here is the contact info for atlantech: john@atlantech.net
My contact has been John Fineran, his number is 301-589-3060 x221 , and main number is 1-800-256-1612
As i said, these folks have provided consistent, solid service since we signed up. whenever there is a problem, or potential problem they advise us via email notices. they also provide explanations whenever service becomes bogged down and usually correct the problem with minimal down time/slowed time. most upgrades/service repairs are done during off hours.
Billing is also pretty painless. a charge is made on our credit card ea month. no surprises, and prior to receiving the credit card statement , atlantech sends an electronic invoice via email.
I wish you luck with whatever service you select. But i can say with confidence, that atlantech was a good choice of ISP for this company.

We recently switched from a local ISDN provider to Atlantech for DSL service. Although there were a few problems experienced during setup, so far service has been excellent. There has been little decrease in speed even when numerous office users are online. The only problem and sore point is the 3 months it took Covad to install the DSL modem. I think they definitely need to work on their service department. After canceling the first two appointments, then having the tech quit on the day of our install, the choice of DSL was not looking to be a good decision. Atlantech did come through on tech support for system configuration and I must commend Eric and JW for there diligence and forethought on resolving the problems we were experiencing, also for their recognition and preventive action on a few other problems. For anyone looking for DSL support in the Capitol area Atlantech is the provider of choice.

I have been an Atlantech customer for just under 1 year. I started out with a Bell Atlantic 1.5m ADSL line. This was the worst connection I have ever had. I could dial up on a 56k modem and get better speeds (and had to do this on many occasions). The line was down more than it was up, and it was an absolute nightmare trying to work with them. Atlantech was as helpful as they could be through this, calling me several times a day to update me on the nonsense that BA was spewing out to them. It turned out that BA was pretty much over subscribing the "clouds" so I would hit a huge bottleneck there, much like a cable modem having shared bandwidth. So after only a month of service with them, I asked Atlantech about my other options. They told me about their business service, and explained the difference between ADSL & SDSL and were very helpful in helping me find the right package for my needs.
I decided to go with the 768/768 through Covad. About a month later, with no real issues (aside from getting Bell Atlantic to do whatever it is that they have to do, so that Covad can do their install) I was up and running. Any time I need anything done, tech support is quick to respond. I have nothing negative to say about my experience with them. The telcos on the other hand I could do without. Thank you Atlantech!
Sincerely, Daniel Segall »www.half-asleep.com/

We have been using Atlantech's business (384k SDSL Static IP Netopia router)service for about 6 months now and have been very impressed with their service and speed. They got the DSL line installed quickly, and with a minimum of headaches. The line is very fast and reliable. Above all, Atlantech's tech support is the most responsive and enthusiastic I have come across with any ISP. I had some problems with the line (turned out to be Covad's equipment in the CO) and the Atlantech tech guys were very helpful and persistant in getting it fixed.
My frame of reference for knowing that Atlantech is a great ISP is that I made the serious error of trying another ISP, Verio, for another job. Never again. I am still waiting for the line to be installed. Verio is worthless! There is no comparison. I will continue to use Atlantech as my ISP of choice.
Give them a try, you will not be dissapointed.

Like at least one other person I am sending in a second review of Atlantech Online. It has been a month now since I had their service installed and I have not had a single problem, even when we had a couple of storms that knocked out the cable and caused the phone to act up. There is no way I can praise all the people or the servise at and from Atlantech. If you live in this area and can get DSL service you would be hard pressed to find a better company and believe me could find a worse. I know, I had Bell Atlantic DSL first.
So to Charles, Dave, Ted and all others at Atlantech, thanks for a great service.

Hats off once again to the team at Atlantech Online for making my transition from Bell Atlantic ADSL 1.6m/90k to Covad SDSL 384k/384k painless and pleasurable. I have had DSL service for over a year now and have come to recognize the importance of having a good ISP and carrier, that is if you would like the backing of sales and support units that actually know what they are selling and providing. I would like to start off by giving a big thanks to Charles Shapiro at Atlantech for understanding exactly what my needs were, what to sell me, and when to make the sale. I might not be the largest account that Atlantech has, but am always treated as such by the likes of Vlad in support, Dave in service, and Charles to name a few.
I started off with Bell DSL and their ISP service but quickly switched ISPs to Atlantech Online after thorough DD and research due to the emergence of PPPoE at Bell and their desire for me to comply with this ridiculous requirement. After a few months of being charged for Bell ISP service which I was no longer using and spending countless hours on the phone trying to contact someone with a pulse at Bell Atlantic, I decided that I needed to cut Bell out of the picture all together. After explaining my situation to Charles and a few of my needs such as static IPs, web hosting, and the desire for enough upstream bandwidth to support an FTP server here at the house, Charles recommended the Covad SDSL 384k service. While I didn't want to take the cut in downstream bandwidth, and the price was a little more, this was clearly the best solution for my needs and we proceeded with the installation process. Thirty days later here I am writing my second review of Atlantech on my new Covad line. After a year of ridiculous service from Bell Atlantic, I am happy to say that tomorrow I will be cancelling my "Infospeed" DSL service. In my line of work, I am dealing with customer's networks on a daily basis, and depending on the requirements, if ever I need to outfit a client with DSL or an ISP, who do you think I will be calling first after receiving such great service myself?, well Charles Shapiro at Atlantech Online of course.
** I would also like to add a sidenote on some the less favorable reviews of Atlantech contained here in this section on DSL Reports (which, I might add, is one great website). When ordering DSL in any flavor, whether for your home, office, or your "boss", it is important to do a little research on the technology and it's limitations. Whether you are an IT/Ops Manager, an Administrator, or just a casual user, you should try to learn a little about any new technical implementation, especially if it will impact a client, your career, and/or even your life in general. No, you are not going to be able to get DSL if you live on a farm in Dumfries, and yes, the further you are from the CO, the less favorable the outlook for getting any real speed on your line. And there are many other considerations, most of which can be found right on this very site! How easy is that? Someone else has already done the homework for you!!
Cheers,
Eric Leigh Wahington D.C.

I am a network/internet support company and spent almost a year interviewing ISPs for their capabilities, flexibility, service attitude, cooperativeness, and just plain do I want to be associated with these guys/gals. It is our intention to remarket atlantech's services.
In Jan of 2000 I finally made the decision to go with atlantech and placed an order for a 1.1mb SDSL line. The COVAD "bible" said that it was available at me location.
Atlantech told me it would be 4 to 6 weeks for installation. They also clearly explained the process including just because the COVAD service said I could get 1.1 mb service it may not happen. (Loop lengths, fiber in the circuit, or other electronic equipment in the line etc.)
The Phone Co. finally did their thing and COVAD was notified. They came approximately when they said they would, BUT, (always the big BUT), the loop length was 17,500 ft. Far to long for 1.1 mb, in fact I could only get 144 kb.
I said go ahead to the 144 kb, but something got screwed up beween COVAD and the Phone Co. and the COVAD order was lost/misplaced/? It was a real pain getting everything scheduled.
During this time atlantech was responsive and informative. (They were caught in the middle between COVAD and the Phone Co. also.)
When things got straightened out the 144 kb line was installed and life has been great ever since.
Am I satisfied? I have since sold three DSL installations to long time customers of mine.
Summary. DSL is a new technology and we all are having the "bleeding edge" early implementer problems. To me, it is worth the pain. I now have capabilities that I didn't have before.

To Whom It May Concern:
I just started as the IT Manager at a new company two months ago. The first thing on my to-do list was to get DSL for the president of our company. I went to dslreports.com and did a search by his zip code and found Atlantech Online. The reviews for this company were excellent so I decided to use them.
My sales rep, Justin Greger assured me that 384K access was no problem and that the install "normally" takes 30-40 days from start to finish. I asked him to check &r re-check the distance as this was for my boss' boss. The order was placed for 384K. Three weeks later when I was calling to follow-up I was told that we cannot get 384K but we can definitely get 144K. I then had them cancel the first order and place a new order for 144K. Late last week, I was told that I can't even get 144K as we're too far from a CO. I was outraged. It is now 2 months since my first order and I am no closer to DSL than I was when I started.
Atlantech Online's customer service and sales staff are either horrible at what they do or DSL is too tricky a technology for them to be dabbling with. I strongly recommend people to NOT user Atlantech Online.

I just wanted to tell you how pleased we are here at The United Auto Workers and General Motors Baltimore with Covad DSL service(Telespeed DSl 384), and with Atlantech.net's service.
The Covad installation was excellent from start to finish, your staff coordinated what looked like was going to be complicated process so well that it was easier than regular phone service. The speed of the link and not waiting for dial up connections, when we have a classroom full of computers all hitting different web sites, along with our administration, email and web publishing going on, we can't feel a hitch.
Your tech and service department is first rate, they have walked us through several problems, in fact they fixed most of them before we even had to tell them we had them, that's why we've switched all of our internet service to your company.
