I ordered DSL from Atlantech and got it installed in the time frame that they promised. However, the routing settings between Atlantech, Covad, and my preconfigured DSL modem were not matching up. When I called tech support, I was frequently kept on hold for 15+ minutes at a time. They instructed me to reset the configuration on my DSL modem so that we could start from scratch. After resetting the modem and starting to reconfigure, it became obvious that the tech I was talking to didn't know how to reconfigure the DSL modem. Over the next 4 days, I was on the phone for a total of 10 hours, and had an on-site service call from Covad to resolve the issue.

When the service tech from Covad came, he performed some tests and told me that there was no way I was going to get any better speed than 768/128. Meanwhile, I was promised a 6.0/768 connection by Atlantech. In any case, we finally got everything set up and working, and the connection hasn't dropped since. Atlantech is willing to drop our monthly fee from $99/month to $79/month. They also claim that they were able to get our connection to 1.5/768. Multiple speed tests put my speed closer to about 300/300.

Needless to say, I plan on cancelling this account onceI have a replacement service installed. I'll probably take my chances with comcast cable until verizon fiber is available in my area.
