This is the most robust system for small business in existence. The price
is unbeatable and even if price were no object, the phone company can't
offer the same features. Packet 8 is the only way to go for business of any
size, but particularly for those like mine.

So far we've been having a hard time with Packet8. Salesman oversold
capabilities of system. Overbilling problems took months of complaints to
    resolve.

System calls still drops out a lot and bad echos.

We're a small company. Two people. But we needed a phone system that would
be easily expandable and give us all the features a much bigger office would
need. A traditional PBX system was out of the question b/c of the costs
involved. However, Packet 8 has proven to be perfect for our need currently
and for the foreseeable future. The actual hardware is easy to use and just
as easy to install. Loaded with features. So far, I haven't found a single
thing the phone system can't do. You can pre-set at least ten messages per
extension and switch them up easily as well. We're using the fax as well.

Customer service has proven excellent. They're willing to talk you through
anything and everything. When the speakerphone feature recently
malfunctioned on one of our phones, they had a new one to us in two days.

One downside is that I feel the advertised bandwidth needed is rather
understated. I felt until I upped our connection speed to 3mbps, I would
have occasionally scratchy conversations. Also, it would be nice if they
recommended specific routers that would work best. For some odd reason, I
could never get the service reps to offer me anything concrete there. The
first Netgear one needed resetting repeatedly but the current Linksys one
has proven terrific so far. And, finally, it would be nice in there was
clearer literature on setting up ring groups and such. Some of the advanced
features can get tricky and while customer support is great, sometimes you
just don't want to bother calling someone and figure it out yourself. For
example, apparently there's on-hold music and I can't find any information
on what in the world plays while people are on hold.

As a small business owner in the real estate business, I wasted money on phone systems that were too complicated and expensive. Almost two years ago, I discovered Packet8 and wished I had found it years earlier. For a portion of the monthly costs, I was finally able to implement a system that could automatically route calls to my agents' mobile phones---a seemingly simple procedure that the more expensive PBX hardware and local phone companies were unable to provide.

Additionally, without a current staff, the integration with my Outlook system is a huge advantage and allows the phone lines to be just as portable as my laptop; a real plus for a small business owner with a 24x7 work schedule in which mobility becomes a quality of life issue!

    My Other Reviews·Packet8
I have been a Packet8 customer for just shy of 4 years now. I have recommended their service to virtually everyone I know. I have run residential and business lines through Packet8. I have to say that they are simply the best provider out there, period. Several people I know/work with have Vonage but the sound quality is not as good (although Packet8 is not perfect either... no one is, yet) and their reliability is far worse.

The best part about using Packet8 is clearly the feature set that is included in the residential and/or business packages, and the sales and support people. Call with any problem and I assure you the support people will stick with your issue for as long as it takes to get it resolved.

Packet8 will continue to get my business for the foreseeable future.

I love Packet 8. I was receiving ridiculous phone bills from a phone company that has the monopoly where I live, and signing up for Packet 8 was the solution. We have a predictable low bill each month In addition to helping me get out of the contract with the phone company, Packet 8 makes our small business look larger with music during hold and the ability to transfer to different extentions both onsite and off. Customer support is very helpful when you call. Any technical issues that we have had have been resolved very quickly.

Packet8 offers a great value at a reasonable price. Packet8's customer service is fast, friendly and knowledgeable. The order and installation process was a breeze and everything worked as described. I have no complaints at this point and I'm happy to be a customer. Highly recommended.

We have been using Packet8 Virtual Office for almost six months now and the
product has been working great. With this product, it's a very simple
solution for our remote operations which happen from time to time. We would
not have been able to do this with our old PBX system. The call quality is
on par with our old Verizon line, and we are saving a lot of money every
month. It's a highly recommendable product!

I'm an attorney in private practice. I frequently lecture on various topics
    pertaining to law office management.

I have used Packet 8 for almost a year. While, on occasion, the sound
quality leaves something to be desired, other aspects of the Packet 8
service make it great for law firms:

    1. I can work from home or the office using the same telephone numbers.

    2. Voice mails are sent to me as attachments to emails. This allows me to
    archive all of my voice mails for later use;

    3. The "call back" features are of immense help--I no longer have to look up
that telephone number of the person who called me two or three hours ago.

I recommend Packet 8 at my lectures.

I love my 8x8 system for my small business. The system works
wonderfully, it cut my costs, and the technical assistance when needed
is first rate! I can't wait until I can get fax availability in my
area, then I will be a totally satisfied 8x8 customer!!

Packet 8 - Not so great for me

I switched to packet 8 after sunrocket collapsed. I joined the 24.99 unlimited plan. But the quality (of the calls) was not really great. Frequent echoes, and when on long conf calls, the signal would just suddenly evaporate. lots of noise too. I joined the monthly plan so I could cancel any time if I hated it (30 days is not long enough to determine usability) but read the fine print (I didn't)-- you got it EARLY TERMINATION FEES. Geez...so, now I switched to 5.99 plan so it will only cost me another $42 instead of the $59 they want to charge. I now have Comcast and I hate to say it but call quality is way superior (usally I'm all for th little guy).

Also, when I had SunRocket, their website was way better. Packet 8 is utilitarian at best -- haven't even looked at the Comcast one yet.
