Well, It hasn't been all roses after the last modem swap. Most of my issues went away, but I don't get what I pay for. I'm only getting about 5mb/1.5 and I'm paying for 10mb. It's been this way since about a week after my rave review below. I hate the f'ng roller coaster, but my only other option is 1.5 DSL with Qwest. I know I need to fire Wave and get DSL, just on principal alone. I need to stop giving them my money. The only way they'll learn is if they lose customers. If I don't switch then I guess it's my fault, as long as they get the money why should they care.
Thanks Wave. ;-(

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It appears it wasn't Waves fault. Click link below . . .3rd cable modems a charm.
None of them leased, (All my "Owned Modems"). So it's my fault . . .
Thank you Wave. This time I got an answer after 15min . . . 3rd modem and
VIOLA!

I was happy with Wave Broadband for a bit, I used to have a clean fast connection, but now . . .
I'm paying $65 a month for 10Mb / 1.5Mb. That's not what I've been getting for the past 2 months. My VOIP used to work great, but I had to cancel due to packet loss. It became impossible to have a phone conversation. The connection seems fine during the day but in the evening is almost unusable. I've been trying to keep track of my connection problems. You can view my disappointment with Wave in the Wave Broadband forum (link below).

»Major crap!

The last 2 times I tried calling Wave Tech Support I was on hold for 45min each time and refused to wait any longer. I emailed support a week ago and have yet to receive a reply. Hope this helps in deciding on your Internet provider in the 98366 area. Good Luck!

Not Instantaneous, but it's there...

On This ( »www.wavebroadband.com/ar ··· lRequest ) site, you can request an e-mail address. It's not as handy as say gmail or yahoo, but it gets the job done.

Good overall support, very few problems, no suprises, $10 discount w/TV bundle
Some inconsistency in performance during heavy load periods, no competition
For a monopoly provider they do a really good job and are friendly & helpful

There are no other comparable options for broadband in my area, so they were it.

They offer a number of tiers and I took the second from the top called "Power User" which claims up to 10 mbs. I see about 8 mbs best case to the local area. More often I sit around 6 mbs. I think they may be a little over-sold for their capacity, but it hasn't impacted me in any terrible way.

The local office is friendly as are the techs (typical Washington friendliness). I've never had an unpleasant experience from anyone on the phone, at the office or in a truck.

The only interesting experience was installing cable cards (in a Tivo) which requires both a truck roll and a $20 fee, but even that was pretty painless and not broadband related.

In general, they act like a local merchant trying to satisfy a customer, which they do.

Price is reasonable and speeds seem consistent. On-time setup.
Rumors of capping in CA. Hopefully it won't come up the coast to WA.
Decent ISP provided they keep the 'invisible' caps out of the picture.

Ordered the Power User package, 10/1.5 mbit speeds @ around $55. Installation was a breeze. Service tech was very polite and friendly, although he seemed a little rushed. Probably had a lot of installs to do that day. Wavecable provides a Motorola SB5120 modem, which is a step up from my old SB4100 from Time Warner.

The only issues I had with the service currently, was it took 24 hours for the 10 mbit speeds to kick in. Speed tests were coming up at the lower 6mbit tier. And no information was provided to me upon installation, say about email addresses, no software frills, etc.

Basically, Wave provides the net pipe, and they do decently enough at that. Good enough for me.

Speed is good when it's not throttled.
They punish you for using your internet connection.
Wait for Fios to come, they give you a high speed than tell you not to use it.

I had the service for a couple of months and than they called me telling me that I download too much. They said that a Power User account should be used for "checking your kids grades, checking email, or downloading 1 or 2 songs." They said I had gone over their limit so I asked what their limit was and they would not give a number. How can they request for their users to stay within a limit if they themselves do not know the limit. Why pay $65.00 a month for Power User to have them call you telling you to only use it as if it were a dialup. Wait for FIOS to come, I heard that Long Beach is almost complete and Cerritos should be next.

Recently relocated from Port Orchard to Sequim, WA. From Wave to Wave. Decided to upgrade to the Power User Plus package, with 10mb down / 1.5mb up. it's awesome!

The transfer / upgrade couldn't have been easier, and was only $20. The installer was knowledgeable and friendly. And he was even ON TIME. Even insisted on wearing the little booties when I told him not to bother.

He was in and out in under an hour, and I've been enjoying my 10mb connection for a couple weeks now.

To have service this fast this far out in the sticks is sweet. Thanks Wave!

Fast, Stable, Quick install time.
A little expensive
Best deal on the Olympic Penninsula.

I am a recovering Qwest DSL customer. I am now using Wave cable with no bad news to report.

WaveBroadband sent me a postcard offering 3 months at $19.99 a month for a 6Mb/768Kb connection and having been using Qwest DSL for a few years decided to try cable. I quickly noticed ping times for my FPS shooters dropping like flies. I was getting 65-180 and now I ping 15-65 to the same servers, WOW!

I waited until my 3 months at the introductory rate was over, then upgraded to their Power User Plus for $64.95. I was pleasantly surprised by the knowledgeable rep on the other end of the phone, she told me that Wave was going to upgrade the package at the end of the month to 10Mb / 1.5Mb!! I said “COOL” and I asked how long it would take for the changes to take effect? She told me to watch my modem power cycle and it would be complete. I hung up the phone and in less than a minute I was downloading at not 8Mb but 10Mb!!! I don’t know how but I got the upgrade 5 days early.

What can I say negative? Truly nothing. Installation took 5 minutes in my shop with no cable drop or cable wall jack. I called tech support just one time and got an intelligent American on the line and he never asked me once “Did you make sure to turn on the power button”? Thank GOD!

I will be moving back to the fiber optic world in a few months but until then, I am extremely happy with Wave.

P.S.

Fiber costs $60 per month for uncapped 7Mb/7Mb (100Mb/100Mb) with a $100 installation and it is only available in a 4 mile radius of my neighborhood. If you go over your 7Mb (8Mb-100Mb) you are billed $0.85 per Kb!!! That could cost a torrent user $10,000.00 if they were not careful.

Ordered this for my new house in Big Lake, and have been live for about a week.

ISP called twice to confirm date and time of installation, yet were late by about 40 minutes.

Installation tech rewired the entire house (two cable connections in living room and all three bedrooms) from satellite, left me a 35ft strand of coax for hooking up my bedroom tv at a later time (we were in the process of moving in and the house was extremely cluttered). Installer hooked up VOIP/modem box, and I confirmed 6000/384 service right from the start.

VOIP service thus far has been outstanding. No echos or dropped calls. e911 service is available and works. My VOIP/modem combo has some sort of battery backup as it continues running when not plugged into power. I do not know how long it lasts, but good to have in an emergency.

TV channel lineup on their Expanded Basic service is much better than Comcast's offering, and they offer the same HD content and premium packages as Comcast, with roughly the same pricing.

I would like to see this price offered with faster upload speed, but that's not available unless I move up to the 8000/768 service. The price, however, is not justified. Would like to see a 6000/1000 service for same price.

Overall, I'm much happier with this ISP and cable provider than Comcast.

Update:

Been on it for two months now. Connectivity during bad weather is a problem. We've had several outtages lasting anywhere from 10-40 minutes over the last two months. This could just be the wiring in my neighborhood, or something on their end. Haven't been that motivated to check up on it.

VOIP works as advertised, but again, bad weather plays a part. Dropped calls and can't connect. Not what I'm used to for phone service.

It beats dialup
Very expensive.
Sure wish I could get DSL.

It's a damn monopoly. Sure wish I could get DSL., comcast, or have any choice at all. We need competition before we'll have better pricing and better service.

none really
techs never on time, service in Port orchard area never stays up for long
if you really want reliable service this isnt a company for you

lets really just get right to the bad

They have a 20.00 on time quarantee but never offer it even though their techs are never on time.

they expect their techs to be on the phone for 3-4 min per call, they say they are customer service orientated but there is no customer service in under 4 min.

even if you need to schedule an appointment they force you to stay home all day 8-5 even though they know the techs prob wont show up till they feel like it.

voip is shoddy if you have no dial tone they just submit a email to their phone dept and you have to wait to see whenever they get back to you

Well going from rather horrible DSL with another provider around here...which gave me 1.5mbps D and 386 U.....for $60 a month, to what I have now.....well i'm not surprised how much I love Wave and the service I am getting from them.

I will say this though, if your not a very technical person...opt in for the professional installation...not that it was hard or anything to do but the first connection process was confusing with the lights and what the order they booted up in meant. Setup is very easy, troubleshooting though is not.

When it was having trouble connecting the other day, I called up the 24 HOUR tech support and they were kind and courteous, didn't treat me like i was an idiot...but they really didn't ask me too much as to my problem...told them the internet was not connecting, they asked if i had reset the modem and i had (many times) and that did not resolve it...tech will be out tomrrow (?) thankfully the connection "fixed" itself so I cancelled the tech guys coming out to my house. They told me they would make note of the error and if I were to get it again to call right away.

So I am very glad I got rid of my old DSL and got Wave...I'm never looking back.

I will update this when i can figure out the flakiness of the connection...might be a fluke, or something with my area only.
