"Tech support answers the phone, fast number port, value"
"I'm happy with them. It does what I need. It is reliable"

--------------------Update 11/4/08------------------
Still happy with QV. It is reliable and sounds good. It does what it needs to do, and for a good price.
--------------------Update 3/17/07-------------------
There was a brief outage yesterday due to a configuration problem at QV. Howard personally answered the tech support line and figured out the problem within five minutes. The total outage was less then 15 minutes. It was a pleasure to deal with such a helpful and responsive service provider that also apologized for the outage.
I continue to be happy with my QV service, especially for the price and the flexibility. It was a HUGE pleasure to receive this month an invoice from Verizon with a balance due of exactly ZERO. Almost better than xxx!
-----------------------------------------------------------
I had been a happy QuantumVoice customer for two years until the BroadStar fiasco during late 2006. I quickly canceled service after two unsatisfactory experiences with Broadstar billing issues. When Digital Realm took over, I decided to give them a second chance, mostly because my decision to cancel had been made in anger and haste - and not because of poor service. And, since Verizon had just informed of a $5 increase in their Freedom package, I took the plunge and ported my landline to QV!
The Linksys ATA showed up in a few days and the number port took less then two weeks. QV kept me updated on the porting status along the way via email and phone, so I had plenty of time to make preparations at home. The actual number port took place with no problems on the scheduled day and time.
I had to open additional UDP ports for a reason that still remains unanswered, but it was easy to figure that out from the debug logs. Tech support answered the phone quickly during this issue and provided good advice and troubleshooting. They offered to review my Cisco router configuration, but I have yet to receive a response after sending the file two weeks ago.
The service has been working without incident for two weeks as of today. I do notice the sound quality is not as crisp as I recall, but I have yet to work with tech support on that issue, so it is not possible at this time to identify the root cause.
It should be noted that I am also a satisfied VoicePulse customer. I would have ported to VP, but they did not support my exchange.

"Somebody give them a new website...please!"

Jan '08 - just an update.
Quantumvoice has given me more and more reason to stay with them; solid, reliable performance. Nary a dropped call for at least 6 months!
If I had more than two thumbs, they'd all be up...
- Update 02/07/06
Voice Mail fixed. Also, you can now choose a Michigan number to appear on the caller ID instead of your toll-free number. Two thumbs up.
- Update 01/30/06
Had a small issue with Voice Mail (sound quality), and called them three times today - they picked up the phone twice within a few seconds. The third time, I waited a short time, then decided to e-mail, and got a reply within 2 hours.
I therefore revised their CS to 5 (Best).
They're looking into the Voice Mail issue.
Jan '05:
I have my own Sipura 2100 and decided, based on online reviews and bad experiences with other VoIP companies, to go with QuantumVoice.
I had delays setting up because 1) I was trying to get a 1-800 number, not a 1-866, and 2) I wanted a type of number ending with "PAUL" and 3) this was the period between Christmas and New Year.
I fired off e-mails, and got replies sporadically. The CS personnel were always courteous, and apologized for the delays. They were apparently short-staffed for the holidays, and I can well understand that.
I gave an 80% review on Customer Service due to the delays in contacting them (often a day or two), but if I have occasion to call them in the future and and they provide quicker response, I'll adjust it. For those who are consider getting a new connection thought QV, I don't think this would be a major issue, since the time I was calling them was a busy time. Anyhow, trust me, you won't have to call them very often, and - unlike other companies I could mention - they do answer e-mails.
Once I got the connection, it has been rock-solid throughout. No blackouts, no bad connections, no problems at all.
I have a toll-free number, and my only grouse is that my name on the caller ID always appears as "1-800 Service" and I'm NOT a telemarketer providing 1-800 service!
Other than that, and the lack of being able to choose your own number, I'm quite happy. The call quality is great, I rarely contact customer service, my telephone bill is low...life is great!
Oh, I forgot....the website needs a major update. It's akin to a house without furniture - it does the job, but it's colorless and tasteless!
Dave

--------------------------------------UPDATE 02/13/2008----------------------------------
Am still very very happy with QuantumVoice service, reliability, billing, tech support, customer service AND their web portal. I did not purchase the service for the web portal, but for their unique true unlimited 800 Voip service. With the price reduction since my installation and all fees and taxes included, in my opinion trumps all other Voip suppliers out there.
The most amazing thing to me is that if there is a problem, my cell phone still gets the call with simul-ring and the problem is fixed even before I get a chance to contact them. I don't have to worry about missing calls or forgetting to turn on call forwarding if I go out, since I leave simul-ring activated all the time.
Thanks for the super service QuantumVoice - you're the best.
---------UPDATE 03/15/2007---------
No complaints with my QV unlimited 800 service thus far. What really amazed me was that during the transition period from Advanced Media Services to Digital Realm there were absolutely no service interruptions for me. With a lower price than when I signed up, with 911, taxes and fees included, Caller ID now with name and number and with failover, I couldn't be happier. It seems like two services in one - unlimited in and unlimited out. All this at the same price (minus taxes and fees) that I'm currently paying for unlimited local and LD (outgoing only) POTS service. I believe that I really have chosen wisely. I use QV as my second line and can use 7 or 10-digit local dialing and either 10 or 11-digit LD dialing.
---------UPDATE----------
QuantumVoice continues to provide me with outstanding 800 service at a lower price than when I signed up about a year and a half ago. The price was reduced from $42 to $40/month with no taxes or surcharges or even 911 charges to date. If and when there is a problem, which is not often, it always gets fixed before I even have a chance to call or e-mail them. QV may not be perfect, but it does best what I expect any phone line to do - make and receive calls when I need it. I even used QV to call my local telco's repair service last May when a cable cut caused about a 25 hour service disruption on POTS. I could have used my cell phone, but I could not resist the urge to report POTS was down, but that I was calling on my VoIP line. This world would be a finer place if all services including customer service departments were like QuantumVoice's.
------ UPDATE ------
QuantumVoice continues to offer me outstanding service with good voice quality, good uptime and the utmost in professional customer service if needed. Billing is on time with no problems. It ceases to amaze me that VoIP is not QV's main business and they treat you as if it is not only their only business, but that you are their only customer. This just doesn't seem to happen these days, but with QV it indeed does. You get more than you pay for in my opinion, not just the service itself, but in the "we aim to please our customers" attitude with all their support staff. They like VoIP and their customers and it shows.
---- UPDATE ----
Am still very very happy with QuantumVoice's unlimited 800 VoIP service. While I did have a short outage since my last update, it was fixed promptly. This in my opinion is to be expected with any VoIP service. Am still getting very very good voice quality. I am also amazed that I can go anywhere and still receive my incoming toll-free calls on my cell phone (provided it's not out of range) with QV. I use simul-ring to ring both my POTS line and my cell phone. Whichever line is answered first gets the call. You get three (3) numbers with QV 800 service. An 800 toll-free number, a MI fax line to get incoming FAXes sent to your e-mail address and another MI DID number for overseas calls. I get billed $41.99 on each 1st of the month and never get any junk fees or taxes added on, nor any surcharges for calls from a pay phone. This service really rocks!
---- UPDATE ----
Continue to get outstanding voice quality with as of yet no know down time. In my opinion this is the two most important aspects of any VoIP service - I can ask for no more - when something is perfect, it can't be improved. Just my humble opinion. I am still very very pleased with QuantumVoice 800 VoIP service.
---- UPDATE----
Was hesitant to order this service because I already had a POTS 800 number with no installation charge, minimums or monthly fee, with $.06/minute for incoming calls. I also already had Packet8 unlimited VoIP and POTS unlimited LD.
But, I decided to request a LNP of my 800 POTS number to QuantumVoice 800 unlimited VoIP service. The number port was rejected a few times by my carrier with no explanation, but QV kept requesting again until it happened. It took about 7 weeks from the order date for my service to be transferred to QV.
Am using the Sipura SPA-2000 furnished by QV and I think the voice quality is better than POTS. If you visit QV's web site you will find most of the standard VoIP features so I will not go into that aspect. The thing that amazes me is that in the past 800 numbers were only for incoming calls to my knowledge, therefore behind every 800 number was a non 800 number that in my case was also used for outgoing local and LD calls. The unique thing about QV is that it is like having a virtual number in every rate center in every one of the 50 US states, with unlimited incoming calls to you. If that were not enough you also have unlimited outgoing calls to all 50 US states plus all of Canada just like most of the other VoIP providers.
Installation was virtually plug and play with no major problems.
The web site is more than adequate for my uses.
Have had no outages thus far, but I have only been using this service for a very short time.
Customer service and tech support is more than you could ever ask for. One night I called very late with a question and left a message and not only was called back promptly, but shortly into the call I received another call on CW also from tech support asking if they could help. Have never heard of this before in VoIP, but it did happen. They also delivered my Sipura on a Saturday evening by FedEx, a few weeks before my service was ported. Don't think this was necessary, but again very very outstanding service from a company with an industry first. Unlimited Toll-Free VoIP.
I believe QV now supports the Sipura SPA-3000 for you techies out there. They also are offering a business Toll-Free VoIP service which includes 3000 minutes for an additional $13.

"Line Quality, Dial Plan, Ease of BYOD with Linksys/Sipura ATA's"
"Phone Portal"
"Seems like a valid contender in the "Call Quality/Uptime" dept."
| Web-site: Ease of Installation: Call Quality: Reliability: Tech Support: Value for money: (ratings match consensus)

First off: I have tried and tested many voip services including Packet8, Sunrocket, ViaTalk, Vitelity, CallCentric, CurrentVoice & MyNetPhone which has provided me with a good viewpoint on various VOIP offerings.
I have kept QV in the back of my mind for some time as others have mentioned consistent line quality/reliability over time, but had stayed away as they seemed pricier than other standard VOIP plans in the past. Now they offer plans ranging from $9.95 to 55.00 for residential/SOHO with taxes/e911 fees inclusive (a rarity now!), and I thought I would give them a try as VT seems to be slipping in many fronts lately.
Setup with a Linksys PAP2-NA was simple and easy, dial tone on 1st try. Ping to sipdr.quantumvoice-sip.com is a very low 31ms! No packet loss either. I used 7 digit dialplan in setup, works fine. No delay in making outbound calls. Call clarity is among the better I have seen in the last few years.
There is no doubt the phone portal is severely lacking, the sales rep even stated this overtly when signing up. They claim that a new one is in the works and will be rolled out in the near future. The features do work, though many require configuring through the phone itself vs. the portal. Voice mail is simple but again works. The sign up process is cumbersome at the moment, but again an upgrade is apparently in the works.
I will update more when I have placed/received enough calls to comment further.

First off sign up is slow and cumbersome, you have to sign up over the phone and by fax and wait for them to order a number if they don't have one in stock. I setup my PAP2T-NA using the info provided and was up and running in minutes with some minor issues that I opened tickets on but unfortunately fell into a black whole and never received any replies so I called and spoke to support and the person I needed to speak to was unavailable but they were aware of the issues and would get back with me, after several days of calling and being told they would contact me I finally received an answer regarding the call log taking "minutes" to load and was told the system will be upgraded in the first quarter that will fix this. I also opened a ticket over QV not sending out VMWI and this went on for a week before they told me it was affecting a lot of people and they were working on it, they did fix it.
QV advertises outbound CID with "name" and number but support says they do not support outbound name but are looking at adding it in the future. I also asked if calls to toll free numbers would use minutes under the lite and plus plans and was told yes by one rep and no by another so I still don't know the answer and the web portal is just about useless, it does not give much in options and there is no way to sort your call logs nor does it tell you how many minutes you have used outbound so you know how close you are getting to your limit, support says that they have a new portal in beta and will be rolled out in the first quarter.
With all this said and I know it sounds like I am being harsh on QV but I was saving the best for last and that is that they have been very reliable with exceptional sound that surpasses any provider I have tried yet. So the bottom line is they are a no frills provider that is cheap (I chose unlimited incoming 500 minutes outbound for 12.95, this includes all 911 fees and taxes) and reliable with basic options. I will be glad when they upgrade the portal as this is the biggest drawback to the service and a better way to submit and track tickets would be nice.

My family has been a QuantumVoice customer since February of 2007. The service that they offer is the best VoIP service we have ever had. We switched to VoIP because we have broadband and were getting tired of almost $70 a month Verizon bills. Paying only 12.95 for 500 minutes in the US and Canada and free incoming calls is the best ever! We have rarely had outages and if we do they are caused by our ISP, not QuantumVoice. I highly recommend QuantumVoice for a person who is looking for a relatively inexpensive VoIP provider with excellent customer service.

I tested QuantumVoice for a day. Set up and installation were simple. Sound Quality was fine. However, I was not able to send faxes and QuantumVoice's call forwarding sometimes placed a Michigan area code on the number I was forwarding calls to. That was unacceptable. Jeremy, in tech support, was clueless and played the blame game real well.
QuantumVoice was not for me.

QuantumVoice (QV) is a company that had been on my radar for the past several months, but for one reason or another, I never had the chance to sign up for one of their plans.
That changed a little less than a month ago when I decided to test drive their service. After finally receiving my brand new Sipura SPA-2002, I got in touch with QV's sales department via email to make sure that they would support it with one of their BYOD plans, and after replying some 20 minutes later, their answer was 'Yes, we do'. I checked their website and noticed that even though they had installations guides for a boatload of ATAs, they didn't have one for the SPA-2002 (which, at the moment, was my first self-owned Sipura device and as I haven't really played with one before, I had very scarce knowledge about how to configure it). I sent another email their way, but this time to their tech-support department and again, less than 20 minutes later, I had a reply reaffirming that they support it and promising that as soon as I decided to sign up with them, and after having my account provisioned, I would receive an email with all the necessary settings required to make it work). After such a pleasant experience, I decided to complete my sign up process right away.
While placing the order, I noticed that they had run out of Houston-based area codes (bummer!, I said), so I decided to send them another email inquiring about any future availability of numbers from that area. On their reply, they told me that they had some available at that moment and that the webpage needed to be updated with that information. Lucky for me, the person who replied to my message was their Sales Manager. He instructed me to select any area code I wanted, complete the order and add a little note on their comments section about my special request for a Houston area code and assured me that he would take care of my order personally. Well, all I can say is that he did that and more. After completing the order, I received a confirmation about 2 minutes later, but it had no mention of my Houston number at all (it only showed a number from Michigan, which I chose randomly). Not after another 5 minutes, I received an email from the Sales Manager telling me that he had changed my order on the system and that a number from Houston would be provisioned for me in no more than 24 hours. This last email was delivered to my inbox around 8:00pm CST, on a Friday night. Even though I was surprised by how attentive and responsive QV's customer service was, I really wasn't expecting any miracles during the rest of the evening. Well, they surprised me again. A little past midnight, around 12:15am, I received another email confirming that my account had already been provisioned and was ready to be used. Additionally (and as promised), the email contained all the information I needed to configure my SPA-2002 with their service. What an incredible experience this was... I had read a couple of reviews about them, but man, I really wasn't prepared for all this.
Today marks my first full month with their service and I couldn't be happier with it. The sound quality is great (they support a plethora of codecs, including G711). They offer a very extensive set of features, but the most important thing is that they all work... all the time and all the way. Their voicemail service is great. They offer full support for fax and satellite boxes (I've tested with three different models from Dish Network and they all work). Oh, by the way, their fax-to-email service is freaking awesome... and it's FREE!!!.
Downtime? None. Zero. Nada. I have yet to experience anything even remotely close to it. I've only had one little problem with the service and after getting in touch with them (with no hold time at all), a CSR checked my account, found out what the problem was and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Amazing!
The only two things they need to take care of are: 1) their web portal. It really needs a full makeover. The current one, although functional, has no 'flavor', no 'color'. They need to add some extra control options for a few of their features. I've mentioned this to a couple of their agents and to their Sales Manager and they have told me that there are plans for a big update, but there isn't an exact ETA for it other than 'it'll happen before 2006 gets here'... and 2) their international rates. They have to lower them ASAP; the current ones are absurdly high.
Overall, a feature packed, very reliable and high quality service. Based on my experience with many others VoIP providers, I'd say that QuantumVoice not only offers an outstanding service, but they also may have the best and most user friendly customer service and tech support departments out there.
If quality and reliability is what you're looking for, QuantumVoice is definitely the way to go.
*** UPDATE 09/30/2005 ***
Still going strong. No downtime to report up to this date. During these few months with QuantumVoice I still tried out a few other providers (ViaTalk, etc), but after a couple of weeks with them, I just kept coming back to QV for most of my calls because of its rock solid reliability, its higher sound quality and its incredibly responsive customer support.
*** UPDATE 12/10/2005 ***
QuantumVoice has successfully rolled out their E911. I made a couple of test calls and both were correctly routed and the dispatcher confirmed that all of my information was correctly shown on his system.
They kept their word on this E911 issue and delivered in the promised time frame. Good job, guys!

5/30/06 The phone service started out great. They ported my number easily and it was easy to set up.
7/30/06 They changed their billing from $19.99 to $29.99. Again not too bad for the features and it included unlimited long distance.
8/30/06 Calls start to drop regularly
9/30/06 Calls drop every 3 minutes. Called customer NO service several times and don't get a response. Finally someone calls me and tells me tech support is working on it. 2 weeks later the calls are still being dropped and They are now charging me $34.99/month with no prior notice.
10/15/06 Dropping this horrible company. I would stay away from Quantum Voice. I don't know what's happening over there, but it's not good for the customer!
11/6/06 Well now its up and running smoothly. Come to find out, Quantum Voice changed over to Digital Realm at about the time I started to have issues and my problem got dropped. Digital Realm has been very responsive and the service seems to be running great again. I've updated the review. Hopefully things will continue to run smoothly.

*UPDATE 2006OCTOBER16* QV has gone down the tubes, and it's not just me, look at the other ratings from others. I've had a constant dropped calls, and no calls - meaning from about 4pm-12pm 1 out of 10 calls rings a fast busy (reorder) - just this weekend, it's went up to 1 out of 30 calls, yes I've made that many calls to test it - EVERY DAY it's the same thing, EVERY DAY I call them, been going on for about a month now. With the new "company" they don't even take the support calls directly - something is going on over there, as someone else said - I used to cheerlead this company, now I'd not recommend them to my enemy. Vitelity.com all the way.
*** OLD REVIEW FROM A YEAR AGO *** Okay... First it was VoicePulse, P8, Vonage, ATT Callvantage, and now Quamtumvoice.
I've tried them all... and call quality isn't what you should be rating a company by, if they use the same codec. The call quality of QV is excellent, so were the others. If you are switching because of call quality, then its more than likely they don't support a good codec, or your bandwidth is causing the problem (unless of course you have some sort of hardware problem.)
Why did I switch around so much? I'm in search mode for the best of breed. Having a toll free number is like having a virtual number in each area code, all of them at once. Anyone can call me, and its free for them, and I don't have to count minutes. Most 8xx providers charge per-month fee, AND 2.9-15cents per minute. With QV, its 41.00 a month (that includes the misc. taxes too btw) for unlimited inbound toll free, and outbound LD to the CONUS and Canada. (I'm not 100% sure about Hawaii and Alaska).
QV - has had more than excellent customer service from pre-order, setup, and post order, than any other company I have dealt with (VOIP or not).
Install: Ordered online, received a phone call from Rich, stated they had issues with ordering me a 408 area code (you see, when you get the 8xx toll free, you also get another number which isn't toll-free, so your friends who cannot dial toll free (e.g. overseas) can still reach you. Rich gave me an option of not using their service since they cannot give me a 877 number AND a 408 number. I said , who needs it since we have a 877 number, why the need? So I got a 877 number and a Michigan number, no biggie. My account was setup in less than 24 hours. The longest delay was the ground shipment of the Sipura 2000 Device. It took 6 days. Installed it (2 minutes) and dial tone - whola!
My ONLY complaint is that I was hoping I'd have caller ID (from ANI) passed to my device even if someone blocks the number. ANI can't be blocked and is a feature of any toll free number, because you typically foot the bill. Since this plan is unlimited inbound, I think we're (end user) is exempt from the calling number when its blocked even though the technology is there. Please don't read this wrong, CALLER ID works as it should, 100% - this isn't a caller id concern at all.
Features that I like (and there are a WHOLE lot more check out their site)... BYOD Option (Bring your own device) UNLIMITED TOLL FREE INBOUND AND OUTBOUND MINUTES (with the plan of $41/mo) Soft phone (NO EXTRA CHARGE!!) Top-Notch/5-Star Personalized Customer Service
