I chose Quantum Voice after reading all the reviews on this site as well as others. I was aware that there may be delays and problems along the line as there usually is from these VOIP companies.
Quantum was waiting for my 800# to transfer before they sent out the equipment, which was fine with me. However, it took about 120 days and they didn't keep me informed about what was happening with the transfer. That is the only issue I have with them. They could have emailed me every 2 weeks to let me know the situation. Instead, I had to call. And finally, I said I want the phone shipped.
They asked me to send a new request for the transfer and they would send the equipment with a temporary 800#. It was shipped within several days. I set it up, turned it on and it worked great. It actually sounds better than my regular phone used to. I will save about $130 per month from my 800# bill with AT&T. That is, once it gets transferred.....still waiting for the transfer. lol
I ordered the SOHO 800. $55 per month, 3000 minutes then .04/min after that. Includes free 800# and fax line. Perfect for my business. The quality is definitely worth it. I would highly recommend going with Quantum. I am getting my father and brother to order home packages soon.
By the way, I was told they got their transfers in order now....so, maybe you won't have to wait so long if you want to transfer your old number.
Nothing beats quality my friends and I would happily pay $5-$10 more a month for the best quality and support if something goes wrong.

"Customer Service and Quality of Service"
"If I had to choose - the WEB Portal"
"Excellent Customer Service and Quality of Service"

In Mid February I began my quest to locate a good reliable VOIP provider. I decided to evaluate mutliple providers that had a BYOD program and the providers I chose were Broadvoice, Quantumvoice, Galaxy Voice and a fourth provider I dont recall. Quantumvoice by far had the absolute BEST customer service and quality of service. I have had the service for about 4 week not and I have not had any outages at all. We initially had some problems configuring my phone, but a VP and an engineer worked with me to resolve the issues. To this day their VP checks in with me on my service to make sure I am not encountering any problems. I really can not think of anything bad to say about them. The only isssue that pops in my mind is their portal, it could offer more features than it does.
Overall I would highly reccomend QV to anyone who asked.

"Great service, good quality, 1-888 number, great staff"
"Their website needs a hand"
"These guys are awsome"
| Web-site: Ease of Installation: Call Quality: Reliability: Value for money: (ratings match consensus)

Last week a friend of mine pointed me to VOIP and I learned about the potential of VOIP. My lady lives in the US and I live in the Netherlands and we spend a lot of time calling each other. Thanks to QuantumVoice we both slashed our bills literaly to nothing. On with the review.
Sales:
Even though the website didn't allow me to fill in the data properly their sales people worked with me every step of the way, answering my emails quickly and correctly. Props to Todd for putting up with my endless supply of questions.
Installation:
I'm using a Softphone right now and other than my own networking problems, the install was painless and quick.
Call Quality:
I'm used to using a cell phone most of the time so naturally this was a big improvement. There is totally no static on any of my phonecalls, no lag to speak of. I'll have to get back on this in a month to get more than an evenings worth of phonecalls in, but so far, so good
Reliability:
Once I was connected, I received every incoming call and was able to call out just fine. Again, I'll update this in a month
Tech support:
I can't rate this because I didn't need Tech support (other than the questions I had for Sales) Although the fact that I didn't need any tech support speaks in favor of QV
Value for money:
This is mostly personal, but because me and my lady spent about 800$ a month between eachother calling you can imagine that I definitely see this as getting my money worth. The unlimited 1-888 number will save me and those who try to reach me a bundle and is very practical (can receive calls from phonebooths for a small extra..) My opinion is that I'm definitely getting an awsome deal at 41$ a month.
The website:
Their website could use some work and perhaps the navigation could be improved somewhat. Their portal is light, but very functional and so far I enjoy using it.
Billing:
I received their online invoice this morning and everything seemed to be in order. My creditcard was accepted without a hitch (unlike most VOIP providers who decline NON-US creditcards)
In closing:
I just love their service and I think their quality is outstanding. From every department that I worked with I can tell that they are strongly focussed on the customer and go out of their way to make sure that the customer is happy. I do hope however that they will grow gracefully and not succumb to loads of customers like a lot of other VOIP providers have.

"Outstanding value for the money"

Initial order was processed slowly, but after an email to the company they got the ATA device right out to me.
The only bad thing, they don't have local phone numbers so I have to pay a little more for the 800 number so my friends and family can call me without incurring a charge. This actually turned into a blessing since both of my older kids live out of town anyway and can call me any time they want for free and it doesn't really cost me that much more for the 800 service.
The tech support crew is quick to respond to email (usually within the hour) and fix any problems that come up. They are not afraid to pick up a phone and call if they don't understand your problem or if they need to do testing to make sure it is working correctly.
The web site is good, but has a bare feel to it. It has everything you need, but could look a little nicer. Being able to sort the call history would be nice. Maybe to be able to download the call history into excel would be nice. I would like to know the typical cost of a call to so I can see how much $$ I'm saving.
All in all, I am very satisfied with the company and the tech guys are outstanding. Being a person in the Network/Telecomm business myself, I feel that they know what they are talking about and don't try to blow smoke.
6 stars!

"Support is Great! Most Responsive I Have Ever Gotten From Anyone!"
"Was Unable to get a Number in my Area Code Yet (518)"
"Works Great! / I am Very Happy with the Service!"

I have received several calls from Rich Chang at QuantumVoice who appologized so much for not returning my previous calls that I had to interupt him. He then was able to answer all my questions very clearly accept whether I could keep my current phone number in area code 518. He later called back again to say that sadly at present they were unable to connect me to my current phone number in area code 518. Despite this set back and being that I am so desperate to get rid of Verizon, I have decided to sign up and try QuantumVoice and hope that my area code will soon be supported. Also, Thanx to the people including "sgarrand" who took time to email me helpful info. I will keep updating my experiences with QuantumVoice as they develop.
11/15/04 I have signed up, received my adaptor and am very happy with the system so far. I had a dial tone about 5 minutes after receiving my adaptor. It works better, dials faster and is much louder and clearer than my Verizon phone ever was and it's soooooo much cheaper! That about sums it up.

"Great service & tech support"
"No Caller Name yet/Typing in Area Code"
"Fantastic value for the price"

The reason I chose QV over the other service providers is because I'm cheap, and the features offered with their cheapest plan exceeded all of my expectations. I was tired of paying around $90 for Comcast, SBC (local) and AT&T (long distance) services each month, when I don't even like talking on the phone! Getting caller id, call waiting, voicemail, etc. for only $19.99 out the door was a steal compared to what I was already paying. Once I learned they could LNP my current number I was ready to make the committment to QV and VoIP. The whole process was painless, and the transition to VoIP was seamless thanks to Jeff and Rich at AMS.
Just last week I had a fantastic experience with their tech support. For whatever reason I lost my VoIP service over the weekend, but had no luck by myself trying to reestablish the connection. The AMS tech support spent over an hour with me on my cell phone trying to figure out what was wrong. For starters, they determined that my kids had enabled the 'Do Not Disturb.' Once that was disabled, it was eventually determined that my original incoming service wire was damaged. Once I removed that connection, my service was restored again. Even during this short downtime, I really appreciated receiving e-mail notifications that voice messages were left. Being able to listen to those messages was the icing on the cake.
All in all, I really have no complaints with this service. My wife's only small complaints are not having the Caller Name appear (but I hear that's in the works now), and having to type in the area code. Other than those two things, she's really pleased with the service and features it has to offer. I wouldn't hesitate to tell a friend that my VoIP with QV is a top notch service!

I have been trying to get this service to work for more than three weeks and QV refuses to try sending a new unit or helping me troubleshoot. I have tried all of the usual steps, bypass the router, try it at work or a friends house, etc etc etc. The service never worked, the website gives an error whenever I login and they refuse to look at the problem on their end. How could it possibly a problem on my side if I can't even login to the website? Obviously something got screwed up in their database or something.
I have given up on them and have been trying another provider for the last two weeks.

"Fanatical customer/tech support"
"Startup turnaround time dwarfed by the Vonage juggernaut"
"QuantumVoice wins here where other VoIPs tried and failed"
| Web-site: Ease of Installation: Call Quality: Reliability: Tech Support: Value for money: (ratings match consensus)

History:
- I've been running Comcast broadband trouble-free for 3 years now.
- I've used a Siemens broadband router (2624) for 2 years without issues
- I tried Vonage (complete with Cisco ATA) a year ago and had to cancel due to reliability issues (one way audio, no ring on incoming calls). Worse, my current telco would not support LNP. I *really* wanted the Vonage solution to work, but the wife was less tolerant of telco trouble than I was. Ultimately, I canned the service on the last day of their trial period. Sad.
Move a year ahead to 2004....pumped the wifey with a couple Martinis, convinced her of the cost savings of VoIP, showed her QuantumVoice's Web site (their HQ is only 10 minutes from my house!), was willing to part with our current phnum, so I ordered the entry-level VoIP offering from QuantumVoice ($19.99/mo unlimited local/toll, $0.029/mi LD; $50.00 setup). I was able to pick up my pre-provisioned ATA from their office! I plugged in the Sipura 2000 to my Siemens 2624 router and within 3 minutes played with my newfound dialtone.
I explained my Vonage troubles to QuantumVoice's tech support staff, all of whom were certain the problems I had had prior with Vonage could be overcome. Sure enough, I experienced the same problems again (one way audio, no ring on incoming calls). Their staff respected my tech abilities and questions, provisioned and tweaked (and re-tweaked) the ATA, kept me updated, and made it clear that they were interested in seeing me succeed with my current configuration. In turn, I'd provide reports each time I tweaked something on my Siemens 2624. They appreciated that.
Meanwhile, my pal across town, a Vonage customer, reported that he had purchased a Linksys WRT54G router and the Sveasoft replacement firmware that supported QoS packet prioritization. He's had no problems since. I took the plunge and did the same. It's been a week with the new WRT54GS here, and skies have been sunny - it would appear that all my problems - both with Vonage and early with QuantumVoice - were attributable to my Siemens 2624 router.
So, the big question: knowing then what I know now, would I have stayed with Vonage? Given QuantumVoice's excellent customer support, I'd say _no_. Vonage is in extreme growth mode to the point that (IMO) I'd really begin to feel like a number if ever I were forced to work with their tech staff. Not so with Quantum...these guys want to get it right from the get-go, and they know that quality "face time" is the best way to do this.
Or, simply put, I know the actual names of QuantumVoice's tech staff! Try that on for size, (Vonage|Packet8)!
Great job, QuantumVoice. If things stay sunny (and I think they will), I'm a VoIP convert, and your customer for a long time.

1. 09/02/2004: Order was fairly easy, but I had two small complaints. One, the website did not work well with non IE browser. Second, Quantumvoice would not let me pick, suggest, or try to match with existing POTS number in any way the toll free number I received from them. I could not get an actual 800 number, but instead received an 877 toll free number. I did not have an existing 800 or toll free number to port, although I thought briefly about ordering a toll free number I wanted from the local Bell and then porting, but it sounded like too much work. Not showstoppers, but it would have been nice to try to get a number I wanted...
2. Fullfillment was a little slow. After sending an email a week later wondering what was going on, I received an email that said Quantumvoice was backlogged so it was taking longer than expected to process. They did say on the website when I ordered that they had a backlog, but I got a little anxious. One nice point was that they replied quickly to my email...
3. 09/18/2004 Setup was a breeze. Out of box to dial tone was maybe fifteen minutes, and half of that was my fault. Plugged Sipura adapter into router, wasted time looking for space to plug into a power strip, added MAC address to wireless router filter rules after noticing the phone adapter would not pull an ip address, and it was good to go.
4. Quality of calls are okay. For me , the quality seems 85-95% of a good POTS line with the worst call being to a friend with Vonage VoIP with both of us listening to internet radio, him playing an online RPG, and talking; but even then the call was not that bad.
5. Website portal leaves a lot to be desired, but I did not order VoIP for the website...
6. For anyone moving frequently being able to keep a number, especially a toll free number, is a big benefit.
