After going to ATT for DSL after the contracted price was up we went back to TWC and recieved Triple Play for much less than what it was to start off with. Great service since they started using the MOT modems.
Update 10/6/05::
Decided to give up on RR/TWC for reasons out of my control. Signed back up with SBC for DSL Pro and for All Distance Connections.
After a few months of service and especially as of late the service from TWC has been getting spotty when working--some times it works---sometimes it don't. It just drops connection to the headend when it feels like it. especially during a rain storm. Than you have to manually reset the modem before it comes on. TWC says that there is nothing wrong but I now better especially when I can see it go off.
But trying to disconnect the service is a pain! Almost 1 full week of it being in disconnect and still on! They claim its always gonna take a few days more when I've called in about it and get the same old story. When the modem finally goes back they can disconnect the Digi Phone and RR then for sure!
Update 7/8/05--
I called the County Sheriff's office to have them check my 911. Everything is working as it should be. Although i had to give the person my phone number and asked if they could provide me the name and address and where my emergency services are provided from. They gave me everything the way it should be. Glad I have E-911 still.
Also one thing I forgot to add about the Install. When we ordered a new number from TWC we were given a cellular number from Nextel other people I know getting new numbers from TWC are getting numbers from the CLECs of Level3 and KMC.
Called TWC about a week ago and ordered the service, and requested a new phone number. The CSR told me it would take ONE week for service to be installed. Wasn't bad waiting. had the landline from MCI to use while waiting and a cell phone.
Contractors called and asked for directions to where we live. I have them the directions and they came and started to set up the phone service. But unlike most contractors of TWC here they really didn't know too much about where any of their equipment is located or what to do for services. I showed them everything and then when it came to hooking up the MTA to the phone line they went out side and access the apartment building's NID and was getting ready to cut phone lines to our apartment. I found out and went and showed them how things worked and told the techs not to disconnect anything in the building's NID. since we had 2 lines installed when we moved in we have our own separate NID to use. they did what they had to in there. Come to find out since my computer and the phone jack aren't near one another they couldnt use the phone line install after all but I signed off on the work order to do it myself since the contractor wasn't allowed to do it. They're unable to run wires across walkways or any of such. Running a new cable line in was not an option either since owners won't allow the line to run outside on the building.
Great services, 611 works for CSRs, great quality of service. Was offered the Tripple Play price without Digital Cable. No contract nor no promotion.
Classic Cable (2-77 ($45.05)), RoadRunner ($34.99 per month promotion for 12months), and Digital Phone: $119.99 per month.
The only down side. They don't support Fax
I haven't tested E-911 yet as not really sure how to go about doing it.

There are cheaper services out there. But for service and reliability rr can't be beat! My only complaint is that they raise the download speeds to more then we need and leave the upload speeds below par

i won't comment on the service as for $11.71 a month viatalk has the most features and the best sound quality on earth.
sunrocket with their $8.30/mo deal for a day was the cheapest for what you get.
I mean how many users can they possibly have on that Digital Phone? These people most not go into sstores and see vonage boxes not that vonage is good but it is $15 cheaper.

After 3 weeks of vigorous testing, my Time-Warner Triple Play service works perfectly in all respects: clear t.v., excellent local & long-distance calls, sustained 740 Kbps download speed out of possible 768 (with no packet loss or disconnects). The Customer Service is fast and suprisingly knowledgable. The IP address is dynamic, but it only changed once temporarily when I rebooted the modem. I am a picky individual, and was doubtful at first, but now I am fully satisfied.
I am also honest and will tell you of some problems that required my own do-it-yourself remedies:
1. The inital installation was sloppy. I had to shorten and re-route some of the cable wiring according to the FAQs at BroadbandReports.com. You can buy inexpensive but professional tools and materials at cablewholesale.com.
2. Use a ground-loop isolator at the top of your incoming cable line. I used the one availalbe at »www.elect-spec.com/video.htm
3. Install an attenuator from Radio Shack in-line with the cable modem (after the split to your television). See »www.radioshack.com/product/index···e=search for details. Start with the minimum level, open your web browser once connected, go to »192.168.100.1, and adjust the DSS signal to "0.0".
4. Connect a ground wire to the little screw on the cable splitter. This step seems to reduce line noise.
5. Use a good quality router instead of connecting your computer's network card directly to the cable modem. I splurged for the D-Link DFL-200, which runs very cool and has outstanding firewall capability. I combined it with the D-Link DFE-530TX+ NIC. Using the firewall/router seems to reduce noise on the line and makes my browser open a bit faster when I use my laptop. You will also not have to reboot the cable modem each time you switch between your desktop and laptop computers.
6. Manually adjust your RWIN value. See the Tweaks section of BroadBandReports.com.
7. The cable box runs hot, so take the cover off to reduce potential problems. The Arris modem, however, runs ice cold. If you are afraid of losing telephone service due to power outages, you can buy a modem battery at »www.arrisistore.com/touchstone/p···d=710476
8. Try to use a corded phone, not your cheap cordless. The cordless phone works fairly well, but it adds latency and sometimes causes a lag in your conversation.
9. Calling cell phone numbers doesn't work well. There are lags in the conversation.
Overall, you cannot beat the $100/month rate. Customer Service promised the rate will not change before Jan. '07, and then it will increase no more than $5/month.
I hope this helps.

Update 2-13-06
Well RR has been great still for over 2 years and now that I X DP. I just did not use the home phone as much so i called TWC and X that part of the bill a few months ago. But still RR RCKS i will be sad that they dont service Denver That will really suck. Oh well Comacast here i came.
Update 8-10-05
Now that that i have DP for just under 8 months it still works great and have not look back since that day in JAN. I tell everyone how great Tw has been and make the jump to DP
Thanks TWC for such a great service
I Had Vonage over a year ago( late 03) and it did not work then so i told my self i was not going back to VOIP till it gets better .So in Dec 04 TW called me and said i can get DP from them i was like does it work like voange and they said nope. CableGei all ready said how it works so i dont have to. So i jumped on it because it was the same price i am paying for RR/TV per month so i was like ok lets try it again and if it works great for 30 days i will X SBC. Well 2 months later no more SBC and it works great. so now I would tell everyone to make the change over to it and save on you Pots line.
For the people who say you can go with a cheeper service i am saving $20 bucks a month over SBC
My Bill with Tax and all was 68 My DP Bill with tax and all is 48
Thats = 240 Dollars per year in my pocket Vs SBC

DVR Road Runner Pro Digital +HBO
For $150...
Vonage was horrible. Echo/Delays and dropped calls, i had vonage for over 3 years, but the problems balanced out the price.... .
Untill a person was hit outside my house by a car, this was my perfect chance to try out their "Non standard 911" the call center that picked up my 911 call was located 350 miles away from City. After giving them my address State police showed up 2 hours later knocking on my door asking where the accident was
The next morning, I decided to call Time Warner and try this "Digital" phone from them It port my number from vonage it would of taken 3-5 weeks for vonage to release the number. So i opted out and got a new number, My RR bill dropped by $20 and my cable bill also dropped in price. So i would be paying the same exact fee as with Vonage .
Tech Showed up ( Contractor ). 2 phones in the house, plugged it into the jack, and off we went.
Been about a week, sound is CRYSTAL CLEAR Not a single dropped call.
Had to call 911 for another hit n run And was greeted by
"911 what is your emergency?" - which was actually a great relief.
So is 44$ a little steep for Voip Service? yes, but it balances itself out with the "All N One" deals you pick up.

I've been a Time Warner cable customer for several years. I've had nothing but problems and issues from the beginning. I became interested in VOIP service and decided to sign up. The installation was "ok" for me, but the call quality from the get go was pretty bad. I couldn't figure out why and the tech support couldn't give me any answers. My road runner service works fine (aside from occasional downtime), but for some reason they just couldn't come through with their VOIP. I've had enough with this cable company, and I will be canceling ALL of my services with them. I am getting Dish service, a better form of broadband, and I'm going back to my land line telephone. I wish this could have worked, but I am not going to pay 40 dollars a month for a service that just does not live up to the hype. $40 is a lot of money for me to pay for bad call quality. Sometimes when on the phone the service would just stop working.

I ordered Time Warner Digital Phone as soon as it was available and I've had it for 3 or 4 months now. I was sick of paying Bellsouth $70+/month for a POTS line and a few piddly features.
The installation took about 2 hours, which included the installer rewiring every single one of the jacks in my apartment so they could be used with the Digital Phone service.
The call quality is superb, the same as my former POTS line. I had my number ported when I switched and that also went off without a hitch.
I like the fact I now don't have to worry, if I want to call my sister in Colorado, or my brother in New Mexico, about how long I have been on the phone. I can talk for hours and not cringe when I open my mailbox, expecting a 1" thick bill from Bellsouth.
The fact the "VoIP" traffic never touches the internet, it stays on Time Warner's privately owned SONET ring which sends your traffic to a data center that connects it to the PSTN. That is a HUGE advantage for me over the "other" VoIP providers. I don't have to worry about setting up QoS on my router, I don't have worry about latency. I also have E911 support, which as I understand it very few other providers offer.
I had a problem dialing an 800 number, and it was wonderful to pick up the phone, press 611 and be able to talk to someone, any time day or night. I am also secure in the fact if I ever DO have an issue which requires an on-site visit, Time Warner will have someone out the next day.
All-in-all, I am very happy with the service so far.
Update:
I have canceled my Digital Phone Service with Time Warner since I didn't need to spend that much for soo many minutes when I never talk on the phone and have a 1000 minute/month Nextel.
I have since switched to the Vonage 500 plan for $14.99/month.
I NEVER had anyone say I sounded "hollow", "choppy", or they heard "echos" until I switched to Vonage, so the Time Warner QoS definitely matters.
I have a WRT54G w/ a Custom Firmware that allows QoS. I have the port my Vonage/Linksys RT31P2 port set to premium, I have it in the DMZ and I have all SIP traffic set to Premium.
My torrent upload traffic literally STOPS, they ALL go to 0 kb/sec when I am talking on the phone, unlike with my Time Warner Digital Phone when they would decrease slightly, but remain transferring.
