Where to begin? The welcoming email states "Inbound calls and Emergency Dialing will be available in 7 to 10 days after you've received your equipment. We will send you an email notice when your account is complete, including Inbound Calling and Emergency Dialing activation." I never received any such email and from what I've read in the VoIP forum, nobody has. I used the chat feature to ask why there was no incoming caller-ID and the CSR said it would be working the next day. His name was Travis and he lied. Incoming Caller-ID never worked.
I don't like being lied to about emails I should receive and about service issues. Just tell me the truth and I'm satisfied. The only email I received was one telling me they were going to charge my CC. That wasn't a lie.
Anyway, I canceled the service before the 31 days were up. The CSR wasn't too sharp so I'm not expecting any refund. Heck, she didn't even know there was a trial period and I won't be surprised if they charge my CC for another month.
To be continued...
[Update 3-8-05]
I'm still waiting for my "no risk trial period" refund. At least they didn't try to charge my CC for another month.
To be continued...
[Update 3-21-05]
Still waiting for the "no risk trial period" refund. It looks like these people are not only liars, but thieves as well.
To be continued.....
[Update 3-29-05]
I don't believe it! They actually refunded my first months payment.
The End

My initial impression of SunRocket...which are EXTREMELY favorable! SunRocket is my first VOIP provider and I have only had service for about 24 hours. I will update this review a later dates.
Ordered service via web site on Feb 5th, recieved the gizmo on Feb 12th, and could make and recieve calls within 10 minutes of installing the adapter. I'm getting numbers and names on incoming caller ID...names are coming from contact list I set up on the SunRocket web site.
Gizmo is installed behind my WGR614. THe only change I made was to setup a DHCP reservation in the router to give the Gizmo a specific IP address (as I do for all my home network devices).
I have not recieved the confirmation email that my incoming numbers have been provisioned, but both are working.
The comments I have recieved on both the local and long distance (domestic only) is that no one could call I wasn't using my regular line!
After 30 days, I will decide if I'm going to keep SunRocket. If so, I will switch to the annual subscription.

"Good quality voice, helpful, respond to suggestions and problems"
"No caller id name, get the phone # though. And dropped calls"
"I like the service. They are good in customer support, to me. And the bad points I can work with."

I ordered this at the end of the year, just after they came out with Nationwide service. I signed up on-line, got my numbers and everything worked immediately as far as voice mail, incoming calls & forwarding. But it took 12 days to get my router. Initially, since I have Qwest DSL service and it uses PPPoA, I wasn't sure how to set up my router to work in their environment. But on the Forums here, and with SunRocket, they both said to just put it behind my DSL router and it would work fine. It did. My only 2 complaints are listed in the bad points. I didn't have caller ID before this, so even getting the phone number is new to me. However, getting it to work is important since I am paying for it. The dropped calls are getting to be upsetting though. It particularly happens on international calls now, but at the first it was both domestic & international. So maybe they are slowly working out their kinks. I hope so because they have been good to me. The director of product management called me when he got a report saying my voice mail wasn't set up correctly. He walked me thru it. Now I don't expect to hear from him again, but even one time is pretty impressive. New companies, small companies do those types of things, it is when the companies grow you have to see if they can continue their sevice, so I will be watching.
So bottom line, I like SunRocket and don't plan to change at the moment.

I got my sunrocket on monday jan 31. ordered on jan 23. I find the quality to be good in us. I couldnt get calls to go through india for a few days now. I had some choppy static calls to india too. But yesterday i had a good connection to india and the calls quality was very good. I have placed calls to other intl dest and i think the quality had been excellent.
Oflate CS/Tech support is not good as reported earlier in the forum. I never reach tech support and there is lot of delay in tech support returning calls. I am trying to get my firmware upgraded but they are giving me the run about for it asking me to wait for ever.
I like a lot about sun rocket, so let me not repeat those.
Issues:
I get jitters/choppy static noise jumbled voiced on 3-way conferning/CW. This happens most of the time. Normal calls absolutely have no issues(may be once or twice in a blue moon). My brother has 3-way calling crystal clear.
I like sunrocket, hope things improve. I have recommending this to over a dozen folks who have ordered and testing this. All have only tech support issues who are slow in returning calls. I guess sunrocket is overwehlmed with the nationalwide customers and they have taken a hit in providing great customer service.
I do have P8 that works great on 3-way calling. I must say P8 in the last 2 months is just good. Ocasionally i see they go down, their voice mail sometimes does not work, calls dont go throught and you need to reset the modem. Definetely 90% reliable. I did have good and bad quality calls to india. But about 80% of the time call quality to india has been good., but i would like sunrocket to work since it offers a lot more than P8.

International Prices are good. India bombay is slightly higher then others. But international call quality is not good. So apparently their $3 free international calling goes quick. As you get cut many times or drop calls or hear statics or modem sounds. They have no 212 area codes in my area. What sucks is that both # have to be in the same area. I really do not need 911 because i will never be giving up my landline because i will need it for DSL and i have good # plus landline is the most reliable. Cable and DSL sometimes go out. SunRocket Customer Service is one of the best i have seen. Because of their super customer service. I will not leave their company to go with another VOIP. Their customer service is very good and that why i want them as my provider. They are very friendly. The online chat customer service that is a different story. They are nice but have no clue of anything just good for simple thing. When you call SunRocket Customer Service they are more knowlegeable. I recieved the unit in 5-7 days. The incomming call was activated in 16 days. One of the # i first got. I was getting day and night calls from people asking for a taxi. They were asking can someone come and pick me up at xyz street. lol. SunRocket Changed the #. Plus the GIZMO they give you has a built in router which i notice eats alot of the bandwidth. What good is that they have no contract or commitment plus the $199 a year is a great price. Works out 16.58 per month. I am using their service with Cable. Will soon switch to DSL

I ordered my VoIP lines on January 1st, and received the gizmo around the 11th or 12th. Plugged it in, and both incoming and outgoing worked immediately. I was looking to replace a Vonage biz VoIP line that was costing me $50/month. Obviously the price is right as I bought the entire year for $199.
Voice quality is quite good, the phones they sent are okay, I have a Uniden 5.8ghz phone I will use instead once my Vonage lines are ported over. The features are great, they have features that Vonage doesn't have like call block and a GREAT webpage to manage my account.
I have used both the chat and called phone support both times getting through quickly to an extremely nice person. They took care of me and answered my questions and were obviously located in the US. I have problems with companies outsourcing support to other countries as I have worked in the tech industry for years and despise this practice.
My ONLY concern is regarding the future. They are signing up a lot of customers quickly due to their year promotion. Will they over-subscribe people and not be able to handle the load? Will they get bought out by somebody else who isn't as good?
Who knows....
**Update**
I have since cancelled SunRocket as they were completely inept in porting my #'s from Vonage.

I ordered the service and it took about 12-13 days to get the gizmo (they said 10 days so this was not bad since they did not charge for shipping). I was able to get/receive calls immediately after installation. From their things went down hill. After just over 30 days of service my billing was still wrong (I was on the year plan but being billed monthly). The caller id with name feature that was advertised on the web page was still not working. It took them 15 days to get the fax for my LPN form. The customer service number is worthless. When you call customer service the people are friendly, but they can not do anything to help you. Every time you call they tell you I will open up a ticket to get that fixed. Well nothing happens a week later so I call them back. Yep, they open another ticket. Another week I still have the same problems and call back. You guessed it, they open another ticket to fix it. Well the last time I called I actually got to speak to a real tech support guy and he told me that the caller id will not for my location. He informed me that they are working on a fix for it, but it would probably be a few months. I know this is a new company, but I just did not have time to stay on top of all the issues I was having. If you have the time to deal with these type of issues I think this is a great deal. I use this as my main phone service and just did not have time to baby sit a startup company that was not quite ready for a national roll out.

I signed up before the went national and didn't have any issues getting it going. I got my gizmo in a few days and outbound calling worked right away it took a few more days before inbound calls started getting routed. Call quality has been good and I've only noticed one outage (not sure if it was the system or my gizmo just got hung). I signed up for the montly billing at $25 but have been pleased with the service so I'm porting my POTS number and am going to switch to the yearly $200 plan.
They seem to be having some growing pains, I've noticed tech support is a little harder to get hold of and have heard stories about activation taking longer. Caller ID with name works fine for me but there are reports of it not working for others, this seems to be a regional problem because it is related to the phone company that SR interacts with to get the local number.

"Highly recommended"

I have used several VOIP providers so far (namely Packet8 and Broadvox direct). So I have something to compare against. Below are strong points about Sunrocket which elevates it above what I have seen so far from other VOIP Providers. 1. Price ($200 yearly price comes to about $17 a month). This price include taxes unlike in some other places 2. Call quality. It was excellent both in-state and international. (I call Russia frequently). 3. Excellent international rates (this ones I actually compared to other providers) 4. 3$ worth of free allowance towards monthly international calling 5. Fully functional website with ability to configure almost any aspect of phone operation (forwarding, VM, contact list, call blocking, caller ID etc). 6. Very flexible VM notification. You can be notified in almost any possible communication media. Of course you can also listen and delete VM from website or forward it to your email account. 7. Excellent technical support willing to go to great length to make your issue resolved, including custom parameters modifications specifically tailored to your account or overnight delivery of replacements adapter or callbacks even on Saturdays and Sundays. Also technical support available via instant messaging, phone and email. I did not see any other VOIP providers providing this choices to their customers. 8. Signature Message Screener application which sits in your task bar and notifies you of incoming calls and provide some other convinient features 9. Fast LNP process (14 days)
Bad points 1. When I was ordering Sunrocket they were shipping via USPS ground which took forever for adapater to arrive. I beleive they fixed this part now and it ships faster. 2. Technical support getting busier becouse of influx of new subscribers but they are growing in both areas so this shall stabilize as well. 3. There is no call duration in logs and call logs are limited in time
Generally I'm sticking with SunRocket and ported number over. This is my last stop in finding good VOIP provider.
Update1: Call duration is fixed, CallerID with Name working
