I had rocket voip for a few months. Then one day there was no dial tone. I called them and they kept on telling me to reinstall which never worked. Then they got their "specialist" tech who tried and tried but couldnt figure out saying both my phones are at fault ,so I bought a new phone and didnt work . Ultimately they accepted that their device might be at fault . But guess what ,to send a new device they want to charge me for the cost ,as it is not their policy to send replacemnent device and they even charge for cancellation ,even if it is their fault. SO DECIDE FOR YOURSELF IF YOU WANT TO BE ____-.

I've read a lot of bad reviews for this company in the pass. But the price they were offering each month, i just went ahead and took the risk and decided to try it out. I have not had any problems which other people reviewed the service had. I use this service daily for my calls to the United States which is Unlimited for twenty bucks a month. I was paying 90 bucks to the phone company for no reason. This company offers the same features and service like my other company but only charges for 20 bucks a month.. I also use the service for international calls. Zero problems so far with the service and i've had it for 7 1/2 months now. Not sure if the company has made changes or i am just lucky but i like the service i've received from rocket. Great price and service so far... will keep you updated once i hit the one year mark

Thanks

what a brave soul

You decided to try out this particular provider even though there were many bad reviews?

Can you explain why did you decide to gamble on this one when there are many other choices which seem to provide more value.

I use this service to call within the U.S. and also UK (unlimited for western europe) and I can say that the quality is excellent. I get a free softphone and an 800 #.......all other carriers wanted to charge me for this. I see other reviews about them shutting you off but I talk around 2 hours per day and nothing has happened to me. I believe they just had bad experience.

I have the $69.95 plans. I disconnected my service because they said I violated my use of the service. They said that I can only use the phone for not more than 8 hours per day. What is strange is that I never use the phone for 8 hours per day. I have read in every links In the website I did not see anything saying that I can only call for 8 hours per day. (please correct me if I am wrong and if I missed something)

Incomplete information or they purposely cheat customers -- the website says in the $69.95 plans that it is unlimited. The plan itself called rocketVoIP Unlimited. The word 'unlimited' itself saying a lot to the customer that customer can use the phone without any limits. If they have the limit time of talking per day, they should have not say 'unlimited' AND they should put the information on the plan information page.

Customer service do not know what to do other than getting payment from customers. They have to check what is going on and put customers on hold for very long. What's worse, they are liar. One of the rep told me that their manager called me to warn me about the over usage of my plan, which I did not get the call at all. Also, this same rep told me that rocketVoip has been sending me e-mail lots of time to warn me about my usage as well, which I never received as well. The only e-mail that I got was my service is diconnected and please contact customer service. Obviously, I know how to differenciate between the warning e-mail and the disconnected service e-mail.

Overall, don't waste your money and time on this cheater.

e-mail

Hmmmm.... well a few things may have happened. 1) Your e-mail acct blocked the e-mails. 2) You're right and nothing was sent.
As for the "unlimited part." Even on cellphones "unlimited" has it's limits. Voicewing has an "unlimited" plan but you can't exceed more that 5000 minutes in the month. Reason being, is voip services right now don't support businesses. At least most don't. So to prevent businesses from running voip, they limit the minutes. Give it time, and unlimited with be true unlimited. Gotta wait till it becomes a bigger service.

Abrupt change on the countries for unlimited calls to limited calls, bait and switch practice, false and misleading advertising
Worst value for money
Web-site:
Ease of Installation:

Reliability:

Value for money:

This company practices deceptive, misleading advertising. When I signed up, there are 50 countries included in the unlimited calls. Then on 4/22 this company abruptly sending a notice, without enough lead time, saying that effective 4/22, several countries that are listed on the unlimited calls are not included in unlimited calls. So basically if one doesn't check his/her email everyday and still calls the countries that are excluded from the unlimited calls, he/she will have to pay per minute charges.

Also their unlimited calls don't mean unlimited, if you used more than 1,000 minutes they will send you notice of cancellation. One of my friends uses only 800 minutes and he got cancellation notice, basically saying to him that he had to upgade to business service or they would cancel the service. My cellular providers that provide unlimited weekend and night is much better. I use more than 1,000 minutes on free time and yet I don't receive cancellation notice.

The customer service is worst. Email was answered 2-3 weeks later. They won't give you straight answers. If you call they don't have clue on what they should answer. Waiting time when calling customer service average about 1 hours. When I cancelled the service I had to wait for 1.5 hours. When I cancelled the service the customer service conviniently "forgot" to give me the RMA number to return the box because they want to keep the $39.95 charge. So if you cancelling with this company, be sure to send the box back with traceable carriers so if they don't return the charge you can dispute it with your credit card company. Oh you will be speaking from someone in India if you call them. Funny thing is that they lied to you when you ask whether they're in USA or not. But the accent is too thick!

Some exchange numbers such as 888,866,877 are not supported.

When you make call to some countries, sometime you will receive a message from the local telephone companies saying that the accounts that you are using don't pay its bills. This means that WQN doesn't pay its bill to the specific country's phone company causing your call cannot be completed.

Overall this is the worst experience that I have with VOIP company. Very shady company. They attract subscribers by offering substantial number of countries and slowly they remove the countries listed on the list. If you want to try the service, I recomended you to use real credit card so that you will have recourse to this company if it decides to screw you up which is very likely.

Unlimited

I fell your pain on the unlimited thing... I have an ISP lik ethat and think it should be ILLEGAL for companies to adverstise UNLIMITED then say in small print or not at all that you are limited to x number... Myabe we just need to call Webster and have them redefine UNLIMITED.... Last time I check it meant NO LIMIT, AS MUCH AS YOU WANT..... I can say with SUnrocket I have not had those problem and the CUstomer service has been great . I chaned from Packet 8 for quality and service issues... There support is the worst... Level 1 tech's can't do anything Level 2 are never avalible and nothing ever gets resolved... Oh e-mail they don't read those that is just to make you feel good....

Hi

I signed with RocketVoip for their Unlimited International Calls to 50
Countries.

This plan is called Unlimited Plan for $24.95. Unlimited calls to USA,CANADA
and MEXICO.

50 International countries Unlimited Calls. Additionally 50 International
Countries 1 Hour free.

These are their web site claims.

Every day, I use to call Germany. Everyday after 2 hour talk time, I was not
able to talk more.
They have daily 2 hour limit for International Call.

After 7 days of my sign-up with them, I spoke 1200 Mins International Calls.

I was calling one constant phone number in Germany to speak with wife.

After 1200 minutes, I was not allowed to make any calls.

When I spoke to Rocketvoip customer support, they say that 1200 Mins is the
limit per month for this plan.

When I asked about Unlimited plan, they claim that if someone using more
that 1200 Mins, they are not residental customer.

They terminated my connection, by not allowing to make any call.

To make call, I need to wait for next month to use 1200 mins allocation.

According to their Terms and Condition, no where they say this information.
They agree this over the phone also.

I would like to share this experience with all VOIP users.

Unlimited Calling is False Claim.

Don't sign ROCKETVOIP.

Thanks

List getting smaller

Well, thanks for that review/issue. If I was to drop my current VOIP provider, I wouldn't be going with rocket.

Re: List getting smaller

Huh??? So in a 30 day month, if you talk for 1 hour for 20 days (3/4 of a month) they cut you off???

Who DOESN'T talk for at least an hour in a day???

I understand about the Packet8 customer with 10,000 minutes being put onto the business plan but 1200 MINUTES??

I'd give Rocket the BLAST-OFF (substitute your own words for BLAST)

Re: List getting smaller

I signed up for the service last month and I would not recommend this company.

After a while, I started to get "you have exceeded the number of calls for the day" message when I tried to make an international call. The phone service is very un-reliable. Sometimes I can not dial out and other times I can not receive calls.

I always have to hold for a long time when I call customer service. It took them 2 weeks to fix the problem with an international country that I need to call.

Every company, even PSTN landline companies that offer "unlimited calls in the US and canada" have a cap for residential customers. I used ipfone.com and theirs is 3600/mo. I used to have a landline with MCI's Neightborhood, and they also had a cap that defined you as a "residential user." They are allowed to say "unlimited" under a mutual agreement among phone providers under the definition of a residential user. I solved the problem by signin up for their business plan, this way, I dont' fall under the "residential User" cap. So far, I am happy with rocket, I love the fact that I can use my cellphone to call Italy!!! used to pay 29c/min from my cell... now its free! But anyways, unlimited is not alwasy unlimited and they do not have to tell you that. It is not false advertisement by their standars for a residential user. I'm fine with that, you're still getting a great deal.
